For school schedules, I generally recommend not getting a pig until you have a lengthy break, that way you're around more often in the very start when bonding is crucial. Beyond that, they generally do not object to sleeping the day away and getting attention morning/evening hours! Of course, if you have friends/family around as well that's helpful!

@triumph.over.shipwreck11 ай бұрын
There is no such thing as a "mini pig". People get scammed into thinking these pigs will stay "miniature". There are many breeders that will claim that with the proper diet they can stay at 50lbs. This is a lie in order to sell to people. The TRUTH is that the abused piglet will be purposely malnourished to almost the point of starvation in order to disrupt proper development, stunted growth being one of the horrible side effects. Many of these pigs get abandoned as they grow to 150-250 lbs. They are large animals that are commonly destructive in homes as they get bored and or stressed and NEED proper space, activities, and companionship. Without these they become highly disregulated and then people end up abandoning them. Unless you own a farm and are looking for a pig do NOT buy these animals. They are not house pets for just anybody and chances are almost certain that you will end up abandoning them. Do not support this scam industry that put out a lot of misinformation in order to profit and please do not support the vile mistreatment and outright abuse of animals.

This is a dream! I live in Australia and have a "mini" pig. When I wake up in the morning and she hears me it's like the devil screaming or like the woman from the exorcist!! We have tried all things but now we ignore her until she stops, I get her to sit and then she's allowed out. My pig never sleeps in the day unless we cuddle on the bed. We do take her for walks on the harness and she does so well. I think there is a huge difference in behavior between pink pigs and mine who looks like pumba from the lion king. Wild boar looking. Have you had experiences with loud/screaming pigs.

I noticed you have wood floors and your piggy didn't seem to have trouble walking on them. Is that something they would get used to if they start young or are there any type of solutions for that? I have a 6 week old little guy, I am going to a few rugs to put around for him since I've read about them slipping around and then saw it for myself. He doesn't do too bad, but I see the difficulty he has. What would you suggest to either help or completely avoid his slipping around other than or in addition to rugs? Do you have a video you could direct me to about any info on that? Thank you. - Iggy's mommy
@AdriRachelle4 жыл бұрын
Iggy is very young. He doesn’t require much space at that age. It would be best to keep him confined to a small area. I have several videos about the care and concerns of new pigs. Check this one for starters. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4ClnX9ufZd1pqM. Hope that helps. And yes, they do get used to walking in floors, wood or otherwise. Your baby is just very young.

He just wants to stand in the grass and eat. Lol which means no walking for me. I can kinda get him to walk a little but not far. Please help!
@AdriRachelle5 жыл бұрын
I like that my stroller can be completely zipped up - so they can't jump out. I also use a harness that I link to the inside of the stroller to make extra sure there's no escapes. I offer a little treat now and then when they're in it for any length of time to motivate them to stay IN the bed and not miss out on treats!

@AdriRachelle6 жыл бұрын
Hers comes and goes, and it's far more prevalent/noticeable on the predominantly pink ones. It can be a normal build up of dirt and oils from the skin (she gets coconut oil and conditioner on her skin almost daily as well..which does tend to cause more guck to stick) OR it can be caused by mites or another illness. When in doubt, check with a vet!

I always strongly suggest waiting until they're at least 8 weeks old. Anyone willing to separate them sooner should be in jail for endangering their lives, in my opinion. They're only trying to make money and be rid of the babies sooner - regardless of if it is good for the piglet or not.

I hope you were able to contact a veterinarian! Piglets should NEVER be separated from Mom before they are 6 weeks of age, ideally 8 weeks. They are prone to serious, life threatening health issues, and if they do survive they can suffer lifelong complications from that rough start in life. Hoping your baby is doing better!!

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a mini pig, only 'small' pig breeds that will still grow to the size of a semi-large dog. Piglets are not naturally lazy, rather i think this pig simply does not have enough energy to move much. I am deffinately no questioning how much this girl adores her pig and wants to do the best for it, rather that perhaps the person she purchased the pig gave her incorrect information on dietary needs and it is simply malnourished. I am deffinately not an expert but i am studying to become a Vet and have seen a lot of misinformation on the care of pigs to keep them small. I hope i am simply incorrect and need to educate myself further, all i wanted to say was everyone should be very careful on where you get your information from on pig care, as some breeders will knowingly starve them so that they stay small and stunted.
