Same here, just saw the commercial for these and immediately thought this would be awesome this winter for my pickup truck so I don't have to scrape ice off the windows. Its astounding that they even claim this will work when you take into account 1 simple fact, this thing requires direct sunlight to work, and winter has the least amount of sunlight of all the seasons, and with iced up windows.. well good luck, glad I didn't spend money on this garbage. Not to mention that this video proves even with direct light, it doesn't actually warm, but it instead slightly cools everything around it

Saw the commercial on YTube and had to confirm it was a piece of garbage. Thanks for this video! It didn't make sense since it takes a large electric oil space heater to warm up a room, so this 'toy' must certainly be magical if it could do the job. It is extremely annoying that crap like this can even be allowed to be sold. It is bad enough that most products do not do as advertised, but when you have a completely useless item that steals money from people by making false promises, that needs to be stopped.

My Mom bought me one for Christmas 2023. I didn't have the heart to tell her it's only a toy. Just like those dancing flowers you can buy at the dollar store that rock back and forth in the sun, this is the same thing except it spins. It does not in any way, shape, or form heat at all. Most of the websites for the sellers of these items originate from China.

I kept thinking I was doing something wrong, as there is literally no instruction sheet included. Turns out it wasn't me, it was just a piece of crap. Thanks for the demo. Kinetic energy does produce heat and in the case of something reentering our atmosphere like the space shuttle it actually produces too much. Having said that this little thing would never procure enough to make a measurable difference, perhaps spacex could a fix it to the outside of one of there capsules. It will create heat from the anger of people who get ripped off by it though.

The comments suggesting they actually bought these or even considered it thinking unironically that they'd work is very sad. When I see these sort of products, I'm always curious as to why.. like who would buy them. I guess now we know. Humanity peaked years ago, this is just the slow decline back to the primordial ooze.

I just saw the ad. claiming that a fully charged unit can last for a month. Can heat up a 20F 600ft room to 75F in 15min. If this is true, the inventor should win a Nobel prize for this.

If you treat it as a novelty, sort of like a fidget spinner, the price is not out of line for something like a fidget spinner. If the solar cell they have is, say, 5cm on a side that maximum power it could generate would be about 0.5W or 500mW. That's only enough power to spin the hoops, but the maximum amount of heat it can generate is about 500mW. If you output 500mW for 24 hours straight the total amount of energy produced, assuming the Sun was visible for all 24 hours would be about 12WHrs. That amount of power will not even be noticeable in a home or car. If used inside a home where Sunlight is attenuated by windows and limited to less than 12 hours per day during the heating season the most you might be able to produce from the 5cm solar cell is likely to be less than a few watt*hours in 24 hours. It's a good bet the Nest or similar thermostat consumes more than that in 24 hours so your thermostat is likely to be better at heating your home than this 'kinetic heater' even if it isn't connected to any actual heater!

When i saw the ad for it just now, i told myself right away that this has to be one of those fake products that doesn't work at all. They make something that appears to use futuristic tch so that people can't possibly understand how it works, you make an ad with a timelapse showing what the product is supposed to be able to do and watch the cash roll in. I really miss the days where you couldn't sell things unless they actually did the things they were advertised to do.

Course it works I put mine in the center of my house and it warmed the entire street up to the point the neighbors complained it was too hot. I had to invest in a kinetic cooler which I have running at the same time. Sadly they cancel each other out and make the whole affair pointless.
