This is a great video like all the other introductory lessons about mini split systems, but I am wondering when we are going to see videos on how to troubleshoot these inverter driven systems. Yes, there are sensors everywhere, an EEV that is controlled by the PCB, and a reversing valve that is not field replaceable, but where do you start looking when they stop cooling besides low refrigerant? There are hundreds of informative videos on split systems, but videos on mini-splits have been limited to basic principles of operation. I work at a resort with almost two hundred mini splits and Samsung DVM units, once low refrigerant has been ruled out, then what? None of the HVAC technicians know where to begin when the problem is something else because there are no industry standard procedures to follow. All of the Samsung mini splits at our location do not have a display for error codes. We invested in a $$$$ converter so that we could install SNET Pro software on a laptop with hopes of finding a troubleshooting path, but it has been futile. Calling a contractor to our location every time one fails is completely unrealistic from a cost perspective. How should techs prepare for the wave of mini-splits, VRF, and DVM systems that are being installed?

I like these videos a lot, but by way of constructive criticism: where the video cuts to the projector slide and back, the timing isn't working for me at all. I think the slide close-up is way too fast for me to take it in, and the transistion effect and sound are kind of distracting. Since it's KZbin, I'm already used to pausing to absorb a close-up once in a while. I like it even better when the slide stays as long as the voice over content is still connected to that slide. I can't imagine how much work goes into this stuff, thanks for doing this.

So crazy how efficient these things are. Is the main reason these little things heat so well during low temps because it can maintain a precise superheat? I’m sure it’s a combination of things , but mainly due to superheat.

What about a defrost board ? is there one needed here or does it just switch to cooling mode for a few minutes to melt any ice on outside unit?

so the EEV can be dual-direction?

Question for a heat pump system not mini-split Can I switch heat to cooling with the system running??? Disconnecting 24 volt to the coil testing reversing valve.

Take the mask off, there isn’t anyone near you. You were riding around with Brian without a mask. Would make the audio better.
