Mini-T 2.0 6 months of straight racing each week Review and Setup!

Now I have been driving the crap out of this little truck! I got it back in early January and have been putting the hours in every week I can. So we Race every Tuesday night 6:30-10:00pm and Practice every Saturday 1:-4:30pm at Ray and Robins Hobby Shop. They have a pretty big track downstairs and it has to be over 30'×60'. They Race 17.5T 2wd buggy 13.5T 2wd SCT and Losi Mini-B/Mini-Ts together. After Racing every weeks for months spending every second they are open at the track. This week my Cancer was flaring so I missed Race Night and a Practice Day. I'm definitely coming tomorrow Jun 25th for practice. $10 to practice and $15 to Race plus $5 per each car and you can run all 3 classes for $25 which allows you the most track time for the $$... This week's Races I swept the entire Mini Modded Class with my Mini TLR 22 5.0 Elite!! It has a Billet Aluminum Diff case so it loves to stay low and flat thru the turns.

Making it brushless is the first thing I would have done. I've been thinking of getting the brushless version. I have a Latrax Teton and I ran through 2 brushed motors, then put in a 6200kv brushless motor and a 45amp esc. Changed the pinion gear from a 9 tooth to a 13t. Swapped the A arms to aluminum because they snapped immediately from the power. The front ones anyway. The Teton was never made for that much speed. Had to change the steering arms to aluminum as well, too much play in the plastic ones after being stretched out. The diffs won't take too much more either. So I was think of upgrading to either the Losi mini T brushless RTR or the mini B roller kit and building it up myself.

Roller 100% my mistake was buying a Mini-T 2.0 when it has a 15T pinion and the B has a 17T or 18T pinion. The B is faster because of that. Also the class we ran was brushed 280 only. Now its modded Brushless! I will be making video of the parts and motor going into this Hot Racing, MIP, RPM, Brushless animal!!!

Some smaller tracks don't allow brushless cos cars start flying off after 5800kv, at 8200kv its an airshow. Some outdoor tracks are ok with 3300kv (or maybe 4500-4800kv AT MAX). That 18T pinion with 8200kv will end up at 65mph at someone's face.

Funny you don’t like the extra weight. I’m trying to add weight to my mini b I was wondering why 3.5mm was too small and 4mm are too big for the shock tower nuts. So thank you for that socket size info

nice video.. just bought a Mini B RTR and 2 Mini T RTR. Blast to drive around the house, lol. I wanna try racing. Can you change your pinion and spur to what ever you want when you race?

Stock the Mini-T 2.0 has lower gearing. I believe its 15T and the Mini-B has a 17T or 18T stock. So the Bs are always faster, I had to buy a Hot Racing Adjustable motor mount because the stock one isn't able to change gearing. You'll want a Robinson Racing 2mm pinion.

I dunno if they changed it but my stock mini t motor plate has 6 holes in the motor mount

The main hole where the motor sticks thru the motor mount is not round but slotted alone with the holes next to the pinion hole. Those are for your motor. When you see a Hot Racing adjustable motor mount you'll have these slotted holes instead of round. That way you can adjust the pinion size, you must have correct spur mesh or you'll ruin the motor/diffs. k

Have any of you tried the HR Racing Aluminum front A-Arms? I installed a set on my Mini-T 2.0, and there's a ton of play where it connects to the bulkhead/hinge pins. Any way to remedy this ?

I only run RPM A-arms because they are twice as strong as stock. Better fitment and design of the arm itself. I've learned its best to go 25% plastic like A-arms and or body. Then 75% aluminum or titanium. These plastic flex points are good for racing. If you go 100% aluminum you will break more. At least thats how it is when your indoor carpet racing.

More like Timmy Tuner. I tune and work on my on VW cars over the years alone with installing and fixing loads of dirtbike/ motorcycle parts and quads for family and friends. 5mm or less when sitting on the track. Thicker shock oil is great for carpet racing along with correct springs and gearing.

Yes. Make sure the body is a 1/14 1/16 or 1/18 size that way it looks the way you want. Make sure to align the body with the body posts with a dot from a marker before cutting your body. Otherwise your post holes could be off and the body will sit crooked. Im taking clear bodies that need paint decals for racing.

@@timothyhibbard i just bought my first mini t2.0 brushless with some hopups, what fun little beast.. i did make 1 crash and now my body is already cracked.. ,, so i was also wondering what also fits this mini instead of the stock body.. + some bodies seems to give the car better protertion.. love the car though ;)
