Hello Matt, Mike Harris here. I ran into you at Grasshopper late today (Monday, March 4). I had the old yellow Ranger that had the motor painted yellow. Just wanted you to know i got on, off the water and home safely. The old girl still runs just fine and the trailer got me there and back safely from Varnell, GA. I know my FIL was smiling down from above. That old man was the best smallmouth angler I had ever been around. Thanks for talking a minute to speak. I know everyone wants some of your time everywhere you go. Enjoy your videos very much.

The underspin is a great lure any time the water is below 50 degrees. I live in PA and I catch fish on an underspin until the lakes freeze and again starting the day the ice gets off the lake. The big difference here is Bass are moving shallow before the ice goes off. This is due to the yellow perch start to move shallow to spawn while the ice is melting. 53 and rising in the early spring is buzz bait time! What you are doing is more like what works in 40 degree water in late fall. I assume the difference is do to the forage base.

Be honest with your fan base please and share how much you’re watching the lure fall to the bait ball and getting the reaction bite using FFS. Thank you for the great content as always!
@tacticalbassin10 ай бұрын
Thanks Thomas, it was fun! That's an interesting question. I really don't use live that way. I find that most fish are already adapting to the ping of forward facing sonar, so when I am using it, I tend to scan around for fish, then point it away and make my casts blindly. I've seen plenty of videos of guys triggering fish throughout the water column but that has very rarely been my experience. It's an awesome tool but for the most part I do way better using it as a general locator.
@7Kustom10 ай бұрын
@@tacticalbassin thank you Matt for your fast response as I know lots and lots of people are commenting on this video. I appreciate your answer more than you can understand because I’m on the fence about forward facing sonar and getting it for my boat. @StevenR_Fishing10 ай бұрын
@@tacticalbassin Do you guys happen to know of a way to keep it from getting hung up so much? I had to put it down eventually because it would get snagged on almost every cast. And the front treble was getting caught on the rear treble as well. It was really frustrating to deal with considering my hands were numb and barely working haha
@tacticalbassin10 ай бұрын
Hmmm... the trebles catching can be solved with a hook change. The snagging, if you mean on bottom I'd go to a stronger line (larger diameter) which will help it ride just a bite higher. I'll often throw a squarebill on 14-15 lb, not because we need it, but because I want to throw it a little shallower than it would normally work in.
@StevenR_Fishing10 ай бұрын
@@tacticalbassin 👍🏼 it was getting caught on branches between the lip and the line tie. Just wouldn’t come over brush very well if at all. But that is a good point about the line weight. I was throwing it on spinning gear with 20lb braid to a longer 8lb leader. Just trying to get bomb casts to the backs of the creek inlets and pockets and force a slower retrieve with 5.6:1 gear ratio. I should’ve tried a squarebill but I have so much more confidence in flat sided cranks on my fishery. The fish just seem to like that tighter action where I fish.

You just hit one of the reasons we took the time to design an underspin. We don't want to be a tackle company, we only make things when the market really needs it because it either hasn't been done or wasn't done properly. That's why we partner with the best brand for the given project and just give them the design. That way, we can focus on fishing and not on the rest of the mess that goes with a tackle company. You'll enjoy this underspin 👍🏼
