Very cool. I did a similar design with my Honda Odyssey but I used crates from WalMart & created shelves/drawers. I was struggling to figure out how to make use of the lower space, &, like u, it worked great to have "drawers" to pull out to access things I needed to keep out of the sun like pet food, etc that could get spoiled by sun/heat. Great to see your designs !!!

Gosh, have a Odyssey. GREAT for all my needs...thanks. Daybed & office , curtains, bench & table...all perfect for being up & about during day. God bless DAD! Perfectly customized kit reminds me of a chuck wagon. Even in my NE urban setting I can easily tailgate at remote end of many park's parking lot. Several concerns...walk around at night looking for light from inside & if u can b seen (privacy/stealth). Also, have u addressed window condensation (stealth)? When traveling would bench & table be safer if adapted to lock into unused seat floor mounts? Perhaps secure laptop with bungee cord...when using & traveling? Will look in HD/Lowes for kit cab & counter i might adapt to recreate ur Dad's masterpiece. Thanks, again!
@miniyetmighty36457 жыл бұрын
Thank you @Preston Ren!!! Odyssey's are great too....it actually was our second choice for a camper conversion but ended up picking the Sienna mainly because of the AWD option. As far as privacy concerns go feel free to check out the below article we wrote on our blog about this exact topic. miniyetmighty.com/blog/2017/7/13/the-art-of-disguise-features-of-a-ninja-camper We have not really had real issues with condensation actually. We usually leave a window slightly open (even during the winter) overnight and even that minimal air movement is typically enough to avoid the issue. The Sienna's back windows are perfect for this as they open up by tilting vs. rolling down, similar to pick up trucks, which is great for safety/privacy. As far as our "bench" is concerned we actually used industrial strength zip ties to tie it to the unused floor mounts, which works out great for us. The rest of the table parts, computer etc. we tuck away safely when not in use. We found that one of the keys in staying sane living the mini van life is to find a "permanent" place for any/all items and actually put them away after each use. Otherwise the space gets cluttered amazingly fast :-). Let us know if you have any other questions and enjoy #minivanlife in your Odessey!!!!

I 💗 this setup! Great layout for a couple and custom kitchen. I looked up the Rtic cooler and saw 45 size rated for ice to stay up to 6 days... love that. I may get a used Toyota S minivan and make the bed a single size for extended boondocking bc I love the back bench up to use. The room on the side is more storage. Q... What is the width of the “basement”? I don’t have anyone to build your kitchen but if you had plans I could hire someone. For me as a single, I would put the 45 or 65 cooler inside and the extra space in the built in kitchen would be used for more food storage. I subscribed to ur channel and viewed ur website... will sub there too. I have. year to plan and build! Please do more videos... Mo from NJ and...

How do you get on using your kitchen if it’s raining , also what about using a toilet ect
@miniyetmighty36457 жыл бұрын
Rainy days can certainly make van live a lot more challenging....touring the Oregon coast earlier this year we had a week and a half of straight downpours and we were getting pretty sick of it by the end of it. When it rains we usually just opt for simpler meals that don't require quite as much cooking (eg. salads, avocado toast, cereal etc.). As far as bathrooms go, when we're in the wilderness we just answer nature's call...well...in nature :-). In cities, we don't usually have any issues finding decent public restrooms (Starbucks, walmart etc.) but when that's not available we use this collapsable, camping urinal www.amazon.com/Emergency-Portable-Outdoor-Shrinkable-Personal/dp/B01LZMVMXL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510700695&sr=8-1&keywords=collapsible+urinal

Hi, love this. The neatest setup I've seen. Quick question - how deep into the van does the kitchen unit go (to the nearest inch)
@katiemohr55253 жыл бұрын
I know this is an older video. I’m working on a build like this. How do you anchor and stabilize something like this? 🙏🏻
@erikturner31803 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how they anchored the kitchen but having the 3rd row seats installed and upright would prevent the kitchen from falling forward. I would recommend adding a 2x4 across the bottom front of the seat well and using metal brackets to attach the 2x4 to the rear row anchor bolts (under plastic covers). The anchor bolts are fairly strong and should keep the 2x4 in place. The kitchen could then attach to this 2x4 with whatever hardware you like. Note: These are not the square metal hoops that the seats engage with, which are very strong but you can't use them if the third row seats are installed and upright.

A condiment 'gallery'? A 'gallery'? Really? You aren't a realtor are you? Sorry but bad sound again. However, that piece of wood furniture is truly nice. Very well thought out and nicely finished. Beautiful. A minivan is very difficult to convert because of this problem of not having access to the extreme rear. You are forced to create an open air kitchen which can be a problem when it is pouring with rain or 40F. I am toying with the idea of a specialized tent that the van backs up to. Nice conversion and good use of space.

I hate words! "Kitchen: 'A room or part of a room' used for cooking and food preparation in a dwelling." "Galley: The 'compartment' of a ship, train, trailer or aircraft where food is cooked and prepared." P.S. Love the lightweight and small ideas for mobile living.
