Australian Shepherds are the absolute best dogs in the world. They are so happy and joyful if exercised properly. My Blue Merle Mini was the smartest and most endearing dog I've ever met. Oh how I miss him.

@@burntvirtue I don't think anyone will ever fully embrace calling Miniature Australian Shepherds "American Shepherds" even if that is a much more accurate term/description. They're always going to be "Mini Aussies" despite what the experts rightly proclaim. :-)

⁠@@burntvirtueThey are one and the same. Australian Shepherd were never created in Australia, they’re an American breed. I don’t know what nonsense occurred to get that name in the first place, and I can only imagine the nonsense that happened to name change *only the Mini version of the breed,* but otherwise, Australian Shepherd or American Shepherd, they generally mean the same dog. (To be clear, the mini breed was name changed to be Mini American Shepherd, but the larger breed’s name still remains Australian Shepherd.)

I’ve been doing it just fine (new owner) but I don’t see a reason to get all cross at people who still call the breed they’ve known all their lives as Mini Australian Shepherd still Mini Australian Shepherd. Billions of more important issues in life (like is water wet? /sarcasm) that seems like the pettiest and dumbest point to chase after people for, especially since the main Australian Shepherd is still called Australian Shepherd, so who knows what petty bullshit went on that they justify name changing the mini but *INSIST* on keeping Australian Shepherds as Aussies. XD

Where I'm living it's illegal to dock dogs, having said that... some Aussies are born without a tail, my pup has one, 3 of her little sisters don't.
