I liked this style and that you didnt use a transfer. The free hand adds much more realism to it.

This was helpful. I got some cork board a bit ago but have had trouble figuring out what I was going to do with it. edit: I've got a Deff Dred I'm going to be doing soon and I'll make a rubble base for it.

what kind of wire were you using to represent the rebar and the cable on the ground? (where do you get it?)

If you wanted more texture on your wood and keep using popsicle sticks, you could take a knife and cut gouges into it or rough sand it.

Dustfinger thanks for the suggestion, that's a great idea. Those grooves will really catch the wash and stand out.

Dustfinger also a stiff wire brush can help make a nice wood grain.

impressive stuff! I'll definitely be using this with Marines. I find the GW premade bases so impersonal and unrealistic. custom bases are where it's at.

Juble thank you. I actually picked up Dark Vengeance and will be doing these for the Dark Angels. I always think that if you're going to take the time to paint a great model then you might as well put it on an equally as great base. They're 2 parts of the same piece to me.

So I know this is an older video but I was wondering how you would do urban basing for fantasy like Mordheim

I should do a video with fantasy urban rubble basing, that's a great idea. I would probably do it in a very different way then above; there's no concrete or wire or anything. I'd probably do a cobble stone, brick or dirt ground with a big broken timber, maybe some roof thatch on top. Throw in a wagon wheel or cauldron knocked over and definitely more plant overgrowth. Fantasy settings usually have more plant life so it would start to reclaim the urban sprawl once it began to decay.
