I hadn't thought about using the princess figures before. Time for another trip to the dollar store. Great idea!

This is an awesome video! I have two additional ideas I'd like to share. 1. PEZ dispensers may make nice headbust style statues for in-dungeon fountains or other large:ish furnishings. 2. Usually drybrush is done light over dark colors, but a metallic brown over cyan will make a nice oxidized bronze effect.

Dollar Tree also carries the prince from Frozen often. I've made these before and they are perfect statues.

Also you have awesome skills. Still finishing up the face huggers. Giving him a red wash paint job, then a coat in clear resin to get the slime look, then fastening him into an open egg.

Great idea. I have seen posts on Facebook of people converting the figures to statues. Your painting techniques are great and they look very statue -like. One problem I have with them is the base on some can be wobbly. When I post what I have done, they will be based on some thin cardboard and hot glue. I even thought of adding some weapons to some of them. I love DMG's channel and the Crafter's Tavern, and look forward to what he does next.

Great idea. I've had some large statues brewing on my to do list for a while. I think I may need to do this. Happy Meal toys would work as well. The local thrift store sells a bag of 10 random toys for $2.00.

I see those things almost every time I'm at dollar tree and think "that would make a great statue"....but the actual in game need has never come up so I never did it, glad to see they do in fact work great. You had me a little worried with the pink and gold, but in the end I think that version turned out even better than the standard gray.

Love that statue :) You can also get nice ceramic figures from the flea market for a buck or so, that paint well. I really do like your new dungeon doors with the glue gun brick arches. Looks better than Dwarven Forge ! :)

those look nice you could also use chess pieces from a LOTR style chess set. With the plastic that soft you could weather them more and have them with no head

This can sound a little barbaric but you could apply the destroyed pillar technique and have a really old statue that has fallen to the ground.

How would I do it if I was going for an old bronze statue? Should I lay the bronze on first or start with the tarnished first?

I know they are not "princess statues" but I found these cool animal heads at Target this weekend that you might be interested in. The larger set is magnetic and the smaller set is push pins. I haven't primed or painted mine yet but they would be great in a tavern or a castle study/library. Each pack cost $6.00 home.windstream.net/slashdot/Crafts/AnimalHeads2.jpg

Great stuff, Scotty! I recently started following your channel, and I love the stuff you do. So much so, I've been incorporating it (well, an amalgamated version of 2.5D, TileScapes, and magnetic gaming surface) into my own dungeon crafting and gaming. Love it! Keep up the awesome work! On the subject at hand: I picked up these Disney Princess toys from my local dollar store and plan to use them as statues, as you illustrated. I need some help, however, and in a hurry! I'm running the pathfinder adventure path module, "Ashes at Dawn" from the "Carrion Crown" adventure path, and I want to craft a statue of Saint Lymirin. I'm using the Princess Aurora toy as the base model for my statue, but it needs wings! Can you suggest to me a relatively quick and easy method of adding wings to these "statues"? I can't seem to find anything suitable at the dollar store, and I don't want to go store hopping hoping to chance upon a bird toy of the right scale to cannibalize. Unless you know of a good place to get something suitable (probably the best/easiest option), I may need to craft these wings from scratch. I considered using foam board, but I feel this option may not work out so well, or may be a bit fragile for this project. I'm running the game this Saturday, and likely will need the statue for my dungeon setup by that time, so the sooner you can make me a suggestion, the sooner I can get to crafting. At this time, I really only have access to foam board, cardboard, card stock, and green stuff. My tools include a hot glue gun, heat gun, drill, and assorted cutters and blades. My adhesives include hot glue (obviously), white glue, and a form of the "goop" glue (the E6000 epoxy adhesive). While the "green stuff" would probably work, I'm not very practiced in its use, yet, and don't want to waste a bunch of it making a lump of garbage, haha! Please drop me a suggestion. Thanks!!!

Also, it should be mentioned that while I only have access to those things I mentioned, I have no problem shopping for more materials and tools. The trick is, this is a bit of a rush job, and I don't want to try working with anything that might have too much of a learning curve. The gent over at Drunkards & Dragons mentioned something in a video called "Great Stuff", which is some sort of foam adhesive(???), I believe. I considered that, as well, but am worried it may take some practice to get the hang of working with it. Thanks again!

+theDMsCraft That's what I figured. Something to maybe practice and work with in the future, but no good for this project. So, if you do have any suggestions on how I can get wings on one of these things, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for the heads up on the Great Stuff.

For the wings you could just use layered cardstock for feathers.
