Thanks very much for this. Tried this config on one of the new 1117-LTE models and looks to work good on it as well. The only difference is that there is no 'encapsulation slip' option so you have to use ppp.

Thanks, this was helpful. For any who need it... using this router with a Verizon SIM in the US .. the profile command is "cell 0 lte profile create 1 VZWINTERNET" ... finally found the APN designation in the bowels of the web. Called 3 or 4 different support desks and no one knew the answer !

Muhammad Lateef I'm not familiar with the 810 but f it's anything like the 819 then the two SIM slots cannot be used at the same time. I suspect you're probably out of luck.

Very good video! Do you have to register IMEI number with Cell carrier first to get LTE or 3G service? Just curious how I can register the SIM card for device.

Hi. I've never had to register an IMEI with the carrier, this is across Vodafone, EE and Three (UK carriers). I guess it depends if your carrier locks the service to an individual device, which I would guess is fairly unusual. With regards to registering / activating the SIM, the router is capable of receiving SMS (and possibly sending them, I can't remember) so that may help, however I've always just put the SIM in a mobile handset to do the activation.

Yes, that's how you sync the sim with the router. With Verizon or AT&T. not sure about international carriers.

Hi - the process should be basically the same with the EHWIC but instead of using the Cellular0 interface it will be Cellular0/0/0 or similar (depending on where the EHWIC is installed). I'm afraid I don't know the APN details for your carrier, I would guess their helpdesk should be able to tell you if it's not readily available online.

That config should be sufficient to get you online, the only other thing you might need to configure is a DHCP server if you want your hosts to pick up an IP automatically.

Hi - the config for a 1941 with 4G card should be basically the same as in this video but with a different interface number (i.e. instead of Cellular0 it might be Cellular1/0/0 or similar). Good luck :)

Fahad Abdullah I guess there may be some old configuration on the port, for example it may be in a dialer pool already. Did you start from a blank configuration or were some services already set up on the device?

Networking Bodges there was some configuration setup already infact... I shall reset the wholething and try again later...but I have a question, if i want to setup a cellular profile with the username and password blank, how do i do it????

If you set the authentication type to "none" in the cellular profile that should do the trick. One of the gotchas I found was that with IOS 15.2 the option didn't exist, however it is present in 15.3. The other thing I noticed was that if you set a user name and password then switch the profile to type "none" it still sometimes shows the old credentials, though as best I can tell that's just cosmetic and it doesn't try to use them.

Networking Bodges Authentication type is PAP, but the username and password are blank... What do I do if I want to NAT my public ip to my local server whose IP address would be 192.168.2.200?

I'm not sure - if authentication type "none" doesn't work you may be able to do something with chat scripts. I'm afraid I don't have a carrier like that to test against. NAT works the same on 4G as any other kind of interface, you can use a static NAT to the dialer interface but most carriers don't assign a public IP to 4G subscribers (they usually give out private IP and NAT upstream).
