During these last plus 2 months of corona home time my husband finally decided to organize the tool section in our mud/laundry room. Yeeaaaahhhhh! We had the floor newly tiled, I painted the walls and one cupboard. Last year I organized our cleaning- and laundry supplies. I had too many of them, trying out products due to my allergies. A little more organization here and there, esp. stuff for our dogs. We replaced the old washing machine with a up-to-date one. Now we have such a cool room, that we use so often during the day, yet it is "just" a utility room. My husband laughs at me, when I open the door ever so slowly to take it all in. I truly enjoy it!

When I watch your videos dear Benita, I feel as though I am watching my own life. I share the same taste as you, I really need order and cleanliness in my life - it's not just that I appreciate them. Disorder and grime make me feel chaotic, I cannot relax. Everything has a place or it's own home as I say to myself and it makes me feel good and relaxed. Life is stressful enough so by making our living spaces minimalistic, orderly and cosy, we can really feel at peace and not feel overwhelmed. Congratulations to your son managing to get his apartment. Although I live in the countryside and am very happy with nature and the quiet surroundings, there are many advantages to living within the city, especially when we are younger since normally we have to stay there to study or work is there. I lived in the city until I was in my late 40's. It is interesting to learn about the housing scheme in Stockholm, this is new for me. In many countries in Europe, people often prefer to rent for a variety of reasons. My ex husband is German and although we bought our own home back then in Germany, we never considered renting in spite of the fact that tax for finalising purchasing a home is extremely expensive. There are many, many homes to rent - perhaps more to rent than buy. I can see that for some people, it is more convenient but for me personally, I don't like the idea of paying for someone else's mortgage and not actually being able to own my home. I always look forward to your videos, please keep them coming. I find your videos very therapeutic and calming. Sending you warmest wishes from Brummana in beautiful Lebanon. 💕🇱🇧

New subscriber here from Australia and I’m enjoying watching your catalogue of videos. I was fascinated by the Swedish system of housing. How wonderful that a proportion is saved for young ones. Australian east coast cities and large towns (but esp Sydney and Melbourne) are so ridiculously priced that hardly any under 35 can afford to buy their first home. They are stuck renting or living with parents. It has huge social impacts. I’m enjoying your videos. Thank you 🇦🇺

I love it how transparent you are with it where the stuff you get away ends up:) When we moved in to California, we managed to sell all our furniture, tv and so to the next renter in our Berlin apartment:) All the important stuff went to my sons storage. Not so much stuff but slowly that little have found it place in his apartment. We took only our clothes with us and even we are minimalists and not having anything in the storage ( expect Christmas stuff!!!) It feels a lot we have collected to our house in these six years...
@BenitaLarsson4 жыл бұрын
Things tend to add up even if you are a minimalist. People give you things, give back things they’ve borrowed and occasionally you do need something for a project and buy it.

@BenitaLarsson4 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it interesting!
@den23354 жыл бұрын
It does not seem discriminatory at all. If you’re younger or a student you’re less likely to have money. You’re also more likely to be in school if you’re younger so you need your campus and your shopping centers very close by. You’re more likely to take public transport as again you don’t make as much money. You’re at an economical disadvantage compared to adults with careers and obviously can’t afford to buy a property.

As always: Very inspiring. I decluttered my attic a few years ago and gave a lot of things away to a professional declutterer. Cost me some money but I was not able to do it on my own as the attic is on the fourth floor without an elevator and I have no driver's licence not to mention a car obviously. 😁 Then my Mom moved out of our old house after my Dad has died and I took over some wardrobes for storage I still have to put together.... You can always minimize your clutter and maximize your free space. 😉 I am sure when I go through all my stuff I will again have a lot to declutter.

My children won't be able to buy a house or rent one without going in debt for inmensly high amount. Storage is a foreign concept for me now. It has taken me 20+ years to declutter. I was aiming for minimalism but have maximalist tendencies so now I am aiming for essentialism in the hope to achieve minimalism. Peter Walsh, an Australian declutter 'guru', says to have your cupboards no more than 80% full and your surfaces 80% empty. #goals

Congratulations! You must be over the moon having being able to get an apartment, specially when it's so difficult 👏👏👏 I bet you were glad to get those boxes out your storage, all that space!!! Haha you made me laugh with the note 'before (me)' and after. Those clear boxes will help him see what's inside if he needs anything without having to move or open them one by one. Very good idea for things in storage. Is your son a minimalist? Do you think he'll go through all his things as you do? A tip to keep long boots straight up, (its not mine I saw it on tv on a DIY program) you can put in each one a litre or 2 litre plastic bottle in them upside down. For it to look nicer, the bottles can be covered with material. We don't buy those bottles but I got them from my family that do. Thank you for the video. Take care ❤

Hi Benita, firstly I just want to say I love love love your channel, thanks for putting the effort in. I used to follow your blog years ago so was so thrilled when I found this, I’ve been binge watching! Some, I hope, constructive criticism. I notice that in the last several videos you started putting advertisements in the middle. I’m really disappointed by this as your videos have such a peaceful and beautiful flow and vibe about them. It can be very jarring to suddenly have an ad blasting at you. I know it’s a great way for you make some income so I understand but personally I always try and let the Ads run at the start and end because I know it helps and I appreciate your work, I always skip the middle ones quickly and get so frustrated by them. It’s such a shame to ruin the peacefulness. Anyway, thanks again and I hope you are safe and well. I look forward to more vlogs from you 😊 Carrie

Hi Benita! Where did you buy the transparent storage boxes?
@BenitaLarsson3 жыл бұрын
I’ve had them for 15 or 20 years. I think we got them at IKEA but I’m not 100% sure.

@@BenitaLarsson thank you! I found something similar on IKEA now and would love to have transparent boxes in our storage area.

The broom and dustpan you use are so well made. What brand are they?
@BenitaLarsson4 жыл бұрын
The set came from Ikea at least 15 years ago so I’m not sure they still have it. There’s a similar set in my Amazon shop, in the cleaning category. The link is in the description.

two thumbs up, again for the soothing and inspiring experience of watching this now. if i had three or more thumbs, they would be all up for this! recently done some re-organizing myself, and what an exhausting but rewarding thing to do, i don't have much stuff but still there are many ways to 'curate' them, like playing lego.

Sehr interessante info über die Wohnungssituation. Gelten diese Regulationen nur für Stockholm oder ganz Schweden? Und falls letzteres, wo leben die Menschen die sich keinen Wohnungs- oder Hauskauf leisten können?
@BenitaLarsson4 жыл бұрын
I’ll answer this in English. The regulations are over all of Sweden but there are more rentals available in other parts of the country (aside from university locations). It’s easier to rent in the suburbs so many people end up not living where they would maybe prefer. Also a lot of people buy their properties.
