Minimalist Night Sights - Glock Installation Instructions - DIY Minimal Tools

XS Minimalist Night Sights are available for all small frame and Glock 42/43 pistols. Our Minimalist sights are able to be installed by sight pusher tools or by hand tools. This video focuses on the budget file to fit method and will install the sights using a c-clamp, file, hammer, and punch. This installation demonstration is accurate for all Glock Models, Gen 1 through Gen 5.
We at XS, are shooters and tinkerers. We encourage everyone to try installing their sights if they have basic tool handling experience. It is a good skill to have and helps shooters learn more about their pistols.
In this video, we installed our Minimalist Tritium front blacked-out serrated rear night sights on a Glock 19. This is our "Budget Method Install" our goal with it was to use as many everyday items as possible to reduce the need to buy a ton of one-time-use or specialty items.

Red Loctite? Seems like that is a good idea only if you never want to adjust or remove the sights.

Sure hope you don't need to adjust those sights! Driving in the rear sight seems to include they won't move. I never use red Loctite(R) if I ever think I will need to remove something later.

How do you know your rear sight is properly aligned without shooting a group to verify?

For what should be a professional instructional video, I find this not so professional. 1st off Glock sights are removed left to right and installed right to left , that’s one reason why you couldn’t get the sight to go in. It’s not the same throughout.

You can install any direction actually. There is no specific way. It will work with either side. It’s just a recommendation to install right to left and vise versa.

Loctite is anaerobic. It ONLY cures in the absence of air. It's not superglue. Cant afford a decent sight pusher?

I didn't shave it down. I used a sight pusher tool and pushed it in. Will that damage my slide?

You did it the right way. Never file 🤦‍♂️. The oem ones won’t fit now.

Yea, it seems like they're telling customers that they can't manufacture to the correct tolerances.

You can place the slide completely on the table when installing the sight. No need to have the end hanging over the edge of the table when installing the sight. Use two clamps, too. Finally, there is a Loctite that is made to wick into threads and tight fittings. I believe it's the green Loctite. Don't recall the product number.

So you don't file the side's of the sight dovetail to make it fit? You just file the bottom?

I didn’t file anything … Just used a wood dowel and a hammer. Went it just fine. I haven’t shot them yet but things went together just fine.

I’ve used blue. Never had a sight come off. Red is permanent. Sights are not. Why permanently apply something that will have to be removed later?

You should 100% not have to use glue or lock tight on anything but threads. Get different sights. Rear sights should be left right ADJUSTABLE.
