Minimalist Rear Tire Carrier for the Toyota Land Cruiser

I want to keep my truck as light and simple as possible and adding a 150+ pound rear steel bumper did not match with my goals. I found a great solution that gets your tire up from underneath and allows you keep your weight down.

Nice work. I've been thinking at getting one for my 80 Series. I like this model as it sticks the spare tyre closer to the centre compared to others which tends to block the tail light on the side it is on. But this on the 80 Series seems to leave the taillight still exposed.

We are lucky at Middle East the 80,100,105 and 200 series comes from the factory with rear tire carrier

@@thelandcruiserproject Yes of course the 70 also But for 100 series there are two options for rear wheel carrier from the factory First one like your car but you just need to replace the lower gate (easier to swap) and it will cost you about 200$-250$ for everything things including the work The second one the called push gate (similar to 70 series ) it will cost you about 500$ to swap it and need more body work

Do yourself a favor and run one of those sleeved cable locks (like used for bikes) through the spokes and around the carrier. It's like a $5 insurance policy for your spare wheel...

It has a little plate that sticks through the rear of the holder with a spot for a lock. Will do that since I have a lock just sitting around. Good tip!

Do you run into issues with LEO for blocking tail lights and license plate?

Not yet! Taillights are mostly unblocked and I did offset the license plate a bit, but it's still partially blocked. I don't attract much attention and it hasn't been an issue.
