My luck continues with the purchase of a Kaymar Rear Tire Carrier. Turns out, after several hours of head scratching, that I was sent the wrong version (for a 105 series and not a 100 series).

Thanks for the videos! I really like that style of tire carrier. I’m glad you had the foresight to get the right part instead of making that one work with modifications. Patients is a virtue.

Sweet 100, love the videos! Got an FJ80 myself not too long ago, I can definitely say the Land Cruiser bug has bit me! My guess is either air lockers or lower gearing!

#koolokes keeping you warm 👍🏻 I didn't realize that the back end of the 100 and 105 chassis were different. I know things get very different from about the front doors forward...

Yup, that 80 frame goes all the way back ;)

Thanks for sharing this. Sucks that you got the wrong part the first time, but good on the seller to fix this on their dime. And yes, you got super lucky on those rear bolts! What type of heating tool did you use to warm up the bolt?

It's a Mini-Ductor II made by Induction Innovations. By far one of my favorite tools for saving time and headaches. I bought it used on eBay but they are available on Amazon and there is even a newer version.

They aren't making them in Australia anymore.

Are you gonna replace those bolts? Where do you get them?

They are probably not going to end up OEM. Stay tuned for what I'll be doing next.

Is this no longer available or sold? I can’t find it anywhere.

No longer being exported by Kaymar. Sorry!

@@thelandcruiserproject Well that sucks. Do they still sell it in Australia? I might be able to get it shipped here through some contacts. I need to move my spare tire from under my LX and this is by far the cleanest design I’ve found. I don’t want a 200# bumper and the US made offerings I’ve found are bulky and look funny
@thelandcruiserproject Жыл бұрын
You'd have to check in with Kaymar in Australia. I thought I heard they just didn't sell enough to even make them there..

You have the worst luck with items shipped I can’t believe they sent you 105 gear that really frost me when common sense isn’t applied. Good luck with the install will you be replacing the original bumper? Do they have a rear tire mount fir the 200 series? I have the 2008 down here in Vegas. Incidentally have you read or heard anything about the Viair compressor line ? I’m more about not altering the Land Cruiser with an on board ARB system when a portable device would do same job. What are your thoughts?
@scotttate70123 жыл бұрын
I have a portable viair compressor and it’s great. I just keep it in my Front Runner box with my deflator and gauge and some other recovery equipment. I have the 88P.

@@scotttate7012 I just ordered off Amazon the Viair 450 hope that’s not overkill it’s used in good condition for $121 free shipping

Hard to beat that price..now you've got me reconsidering! 🤔

It looks like there is a 200 series tire carrier. I'd suggest reaching out to Long Range America for a definitive answer. I'll be keeping my rear bumper. No need to add all that weight.
@jimmythegeekstickeyrice60623 жыл бұрын
@@thelandcruiserproject I agree on too much weight especially for a touring rig it sounds like we are both going for our type of truck usage.

Do you think I could fabricate one of these to suit my 105 mate?
@thelandcruiserproject3 жыл бұрын
Certainly, but for $850 USD, it saved a load of headache over diy. If you're in Australia, can you just pick it up straight from Kaymar?
@Cicada4WD3 жыл бұрын
@@thelandcruiserproject yeah brand new their like 1300 but am looking at a second hand one for 350 but for a 100 series 🤷♂️
@thelandcruiserproject3 жыл бұрын
The 105 vs 100 tire carrier was very different. It wouldn't be worth the savings imo. Be patient, you'll find the 105 one used.

Decided to focus on the diff locker first! The new tire carrier is ready and waiting for the 100 to roll out of the garage. Waiting on some brake lines (Slee didn't cut it).
@DJ-uv7lw3 жыл бұрын
@@thelandcruiserproject I have a love/hate relationship with Slee. I’m seriously thinking about doing the Kaymar tire carrier instead of a rear bumper for my 100 series depending on how yours turns out.
