This Summer I'm breaking up with trending colors that don't suit me and embracing my color season. I'll be saying goodbye to a lot of the green and orange I do love, but gosh does it wash me out. Oh well... turns out the last couple years I've just been curating a wardrobe for a good friend. 🤷‍♀️
Style DNA is the app I used to find my color season.

I just wear what I like. I don’t think about age or trends. Classic and comfortable is my favourite. I also have certain colours I prefer☺️

Yes!! 💕 I’m always drawn toward classic styles but definitely get roped up in some trends. 😅 Not so much what’s “in style” now because it all looks like something from a spice girls music video or a Teen People magazine from 2002. 😬🤣

I live in central Florida and practice minimalism. I actually find my own clothing to be the hardest part of the journey. Summer capsules in your 30's are SO hard, and that's what I need for 90% of the year. I'm 39 and the struggle is real. But I broke my ankle a few weeks ago and had to buy a few dresses to wear over the walking cast. I think from now on dresses with pockets might just be my entire capsule. It's been really easy and comfortable.

Summer is maybe 3 months of my year so my heart goes out to you. 1. Because it’s obviously hot. 😅 But 2. Because you’re right… summer capsules are hard in our 30’s. It’s a weird transitional phase of life. Like right now everything that is “in style” is all the stuff I wanted to get to wear as an adult when I was 7-10 lol. And now I want NOTHING to do with most of it. 🤣 But it sounds like you’re headed in a solid direction with a longer dress with pockets. 👌🏻 I have one that my husband says look like pajamas from the olden days, but I don’t care. It’s wonderful. 😁😅

Bibbed aprons. Seriously. Bibbed aprons will be your friend regarding stains. I wear one all the time when at home...especially when eating. Stuff falls and the boobage catches everything. Also, regarding short dresses....WEAR WHAT YOU LOVE! Just because you are a mother does not mean you can no longer wear short dresses. I wore them well into my forties and looked great. I finally got tired of them in my fifties and stopped. Now? I'm almost 70 and will be wearing them again for my Uber Eats job because it's hot here and I don't want to pass out from the heat. That being said, I will also be wearing them with bike shorts (like you had mentioned) or capri leggings underneath. It's a cute look and preserves my elderly modesty/decorum. Besides, I like them. And if I like them then I'll be wearing them. I'm not responsible for the opinions of others. My life, my rules. My luvie!! BEE STINGS??!!! GAH!! Those hives/welts looked awful. Glad you are ok. Glad you're doing the smart thing with being an epi pen girl. again...... GAH!!!

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect bibbed apron for a while now, but it’s funny you mention it because I did use my half apron around my neck like a bib a few nights ago at dinner to preserve my white tank top haha. I think as long as my whole butt is covered under the dress for when it inevitably becomes exposed I’ll be able to bring the shorter dresses back. I can see why you’d gravitate towards them in the LA heat. When I got to Las Vegas I gagged when I walked out of the airport in my long pants and sweater. 😅 The bee sting incident was pretty wild. I’m hoping it’s not a forever thing.. but the epi pen is now my new constant companion.

Having a Color Analysis done made clothes shopping SO much easier! If you can't afford to get one, I'm sure KZbin has a tutorial. It cuts shipping time and options in half!

I’d love to get one done but can’t justify the cost right now. Maybe someday! So far though, the results from the app I tried seem accurate enough to at least get me headed in the right direction.. which appears to be far away from orange. 😅

A little late to the party, so maybe you already got rid of them. But I think the green shorts could be super cute with a normal black belt, and a slightly loose t-shirt, just tucked in the front so you show the buckle. This would also work with a long sleeve shirt, a long cardigan or a cropped sweater for extra layers. 😊 Maybe add a gold necklace if you want to dress it up?

Maybe more of a muted coral orange would work well. I have pale olive skin and the tone can either make or break how a color looks. Anything close to nude or too grey doesnt work.

You're right, more of a coral orange does compliment my skin more. Especially in the summer when I've got a nice tan. 😊 And you're right about grey and nude as well. Definitely hit or miss depending on what it's worn with or how pale/tan I am at the time. 😅

Aubrey, when it comes to clothing and being too big on you. If you love the piece and Before giving it away, go to a local seamstress to see if he or she can alter it for you- even some snug clothing can be let out of there is enough fabric.

I like the idea of doing that. But I know myself too well at this point and there’s a 95% chance it will sit in a “good intentions box” until the day I die. 😅 Definitely an idea I’ll keep in mind for anything I really love in the future though!

I love watching color analysis videos and I also did some amateur sessions for friends of mine. I always did it with draping clothes of various colors but I recently discovered that you could also use paint swatch cards if you don't have a particular color in your clothing. It would be fun to see you drape some colors onto you, ideally in sunlight. Maybe your viewers can help you with your color analysis ❤

The videos are very interesting to watch! I saw one video where 2 friends were using random household items. Lamps, pillows and a toaster at one point. 😂 It was absolutely hilarious. But I love the idea of using paint swatch cards!

Oooo! I hope you had a great time airstreaming!!! It’s crazy how many different ways our bodies can change after having kids. I was wondering if it was the birth of my second that threw things off but remembered just got stung a couple months ago. So I’m rolling with my Covid theory for now haha. I’m just thankful we didn’t end up getting honey bees this year! 😬 For now me and my epi pens are going to be close friends.

Sorry about the bee sting! I got stung half a dozen times the other day and ended up feeling super sick for 24 hours with chills and a fever. Within a couple of days, I couldn't form sentences or read. Never had issues before with bees. But I am now an epi-pen person too.

I also recently tried the app you shared for my colors, too. Definitely glad I paid for the app. It was a HUGE help in purging items that never felt quite right but I didn't know why. Learning my style type as well as color type in the app was the biggest help in understanding for me. Worth the cost when you can later on.❤

Please don’t get rid of the rusty orange sweater! It always looks so lovely on you. I also feel like the “color type” is just trending right now and in a couple years everyone’s going to realize… “who cares if that’s not ‘my’ color, I liked it” and regret getting rid of all these perfectly fine clothes. Just my opinion 😌

If you're talking about the pullover sweater that I live in for 90% of the Fall and Winter, that will stay with me until the day I die. 😅 I think that's a particular shade that doesn't harm me too much, but there are just some things that make me look tired or sick. And I think you're right.. the whole color analysis is pretty popular right now, but the color theory behind it is always relevant whether or not people are focusing on it. Certain colors will always compliment/clash with others.

The cotton (cotton specifically I hate the other ones) bike shorts from old navy go on sale for like $6 each a lot and they’re amazing for under short little dresses. I’m a mom of 4 and wear them all summer under short dresses and skirts.

Oh yes!! I actually have 3 pairs of those that technically live in my pajama drawer but they are an unofficial part of my summer wardrobe. 😅 Always just with a T-shirt, but I suppose I could pop a pair under a dress just as easily. Though I wish they had pockets!

Oh no sorry about sudden allergy yikes. On topic of wardrobe i wear comfortable and breathable. Ive developed a sun allergy. Ive always had fair skin (live in scotland lol) so prone to burn but now i get rashes etc now too. I have to wear factor 50 allergy suncream So shirts over vests are my go to now. Im 45 and still like to look cute so its a balance lol. I really want to find a maxi dress to fit in with this style which is proving difficult as most make me look frumpy. Not that its been an issue this summer as were still in jeans and coats here as its rained alot with very little sunshine 😢

Thank you, it was pretty crazy. A sun allergy on the other hand! I can imagine that’s a tough one to navigate come summer time. I think you’re on the right track with maxi dresses though! You’re right about it being hard to find one that’s flattering. The one I have is not flattering at all but it’s comfortable. 😅 I’m sure you probably know about it, but just in case… there is a clothing treatment you can do to add extra SPF protection to your clothing.
