Hello! We are Tyler and Mary, the designers and owners of Northwoods. We see the Tiny Cabins and Bathhouse have generated opinions about the kitchen/bathroom. We were initially going to do glamping tents (canvas). After a lot of thought and what this would look like, we decided the change of seasons in Minnesota are worth having a cabin available for all seasons, including winter. Glamping tents would not have provided that option. We wanted the cabins to have a true “in the woods” experience that are tucked into it’s surroundings. When we built the Tiny Cabins and Bathhouse we did it in a way to preserve as much nature as we could. There was already a clearing on the property where the Bathhouse was built. In order to do a well and septic by the Tiny Cabins we would have had to take out a significant number of trees, which goes against what we were trying to do. We understand that the Tiny Cabin experience is not for everyone, nor are we asking for it to be. There are other glamping / cabins in the area that also have a walk to the bathroom that are renting for a comparable price. If walking to the bathroom isn’t your jam, we have another cabin on the property that would be a better fit for you!

The separate bathroom/kitchen is not a big deal... You know what you are getting into if you book here and you are already probably used to a Minnesota chilly evening. Having a minimalist setting while still being beautiful is part of the appeal.

The location is definitely an A+, I love that it is surrounded with trees. The house is very minimal which is OK. It is really a place where to take a break from all the hustle and bustle. I’m not so crazy about the kitchen and bathroom tho, not a fan of it being separated from the house but overall it is a nice house with great location. Your tiny house will look great I can tell 🥰. I like the gold sink! It’s an eye catcher! Can’t wait for the full video when its done!! Thank you for sharing and showing it to us! God bless!

Beautifully designed properties, but one issue: a room where the BED occupies most of the space - and prominently - is not a "living" space. I'd feel uncomfortable hanging around a bed all day! They should've used a pull-out sofa or some kind of partition to separate the living and sleeping spaces.

Thank you for showing us this place! Hmmm, I’m not sure if $424 for two nights minimum is a good price considering you will have to put warm clothing and walk outside (maybe in a rain) at night if you need to go to bathroom. The set up in a cabin is very basic. Not having even a sink in a cabin will be a dealbreaker for a lot of people. You keep calling it minimalism, but minimalism is not that! Separated kitchen & bathroom looks nice, cabin looks good, but it is just an overpriced campground cabin at this point, sorry.

Just the nature and you!❤ I like bathrooms available inside the tiny house, but I would visit this one to try it a different way.🤷♀️😉 Ps.: Probably the people watching would like to know how far it is to the bathroom and kitchen space. Five Minutes walking distance? Ten? Do you have to drive? Something like this.😉 See you soon!❤ I can't wait to see your own tiny house finished!😁❤👍

One really important option missing in the first cabin , a toilet. You have a stove for cold winter nights, and what are you supposed to do, walk out in the snow and pee? Or go to another building in the winter, carry the woodstove with you? These are really ridiculous!

These tiny houses look nice, but the fatal flaw is that the kitchen and (especially) the bathroom are in a separate building. Some people may need to use the bathroom at night. Plus, it snows in Minnesota. Bad idea to separate the tiny homes from the facilities. What were they thinking??

Amongst the things that they are thinking , in many places designing and building a septic system can be a limiting factor. What they’re thinking is it’s more sustainable. What they’re thinking is that in the right location and properly advertised, glamping is a wonderful experience. What they could be thinking is that they only want to be open seasonally for life balance. All of the things that we were thinking when we built a very similar operation in a four season wilderness setting with world class recreation. Guess what ? They paid for themselves in less than two years, produce an easy and impressive revenue stream, and our guests love it returning over and over. Those who can do , those who can’t criticize on KZbin. We can’t tell you how many times people like all of you told us we were crazy and our ideas wouldn’t work. Our bank accounts and thousands of very happy guests tell a different story.
@PhotoBrad2 жыл бұрын
@@davidj8658 It's great that you've been able to find renters who don't mind the "no toilet" accommodations. But, just think of how many more paying customers you'd have if your units had toilets. For most people, the no toilet feature will be a deal-breaker.
@tmc13732 жыл бұрын
The outside design of this home was very cool, but the fact that you had to go to a completely different building for eating, dinning, and bathing was a big let down. I guess it works, however, if you just think of this as the type of summer camp we used to go to in elementary school with everything being separated from the sleeping bunks. Otherwise, very bad design that lacks practicality, especially in that climate..

Like someone posted this being a “fatal flaw”; it isn’t. Everyone can enjoy different options to enjoy this space and that’s the beauty of camping/glamming or any outdoor activity. Choose what works for you, the video does a great job of showing the options, and the website gives you the other options of the kitchen and bathroom being in another unit. I wouldn’t mind the change of pace, but that is my own opinion and preference, if I wanted something that was all inclusive, then I would look at other options. Just because it’s different in design, doesn’t make it flawed.😊

Definitely a no for me. I have done plenty of camping in my life, and yes I’ve had to walk to a restroom, but I definitely wouldn’t pay that pricetag to essentially camp. They stated they did the cabins instead of “glamping” tents so people could enjoy the space even in the winter, but who wants to freeze wen getting up in the night to use the restroom Also, it’s a beautiful property…but how would be able to enjoy a “getaway” when the the seating options are either in bed or in a small hard chair in the corner. There is literally nothing in there that is inviting and says “come enjoy your getaway” Sorry, but it seems like a waste of money to me.

These two tiny houses are not well designed. Why is the table so tiny? It could've been twice the size and no space would have been lost. What's it with that black thing on top of them? Is it empty? That's a waste of space. Is it just there so the roof is dipping? Strange choice. And that bathroom... WHO designed that? Way too much space. Tiny board for no reason. And why is the window on up so high? Why not lower it so you actually have a view, and curtains for privacy.
