For anyone curious about starting this process. I began eliminating all things from my closet other than my favorites! I observed the color tones I liked and the style I gravitated toward. I did not throw out everything else. But placed all other items in a tote. And only grabbed them as needed. And would later add them to my capsule. And my capsule wardrobe started to evolve from there! Eventually I donated the items that I never took from the tote. 😅

I really appreciate this visual of what comprises your capsule wardrobe. I'm pleasantly surprised to learn that there are more items than I thought there'd be. I've always been under the impression that capsule wardrobes consisted of 8 - 12 items and that's always held me back. I used to love dressing well. Nowadays, not so much. I'd like to change that. You've inspired me. 💕

Your capsule wardrobe is so beautiful! I love how light and feminine everything looks. At the same time I have learned that just because I love something on someone else does not mean that it is for me :) I personally enjoy mixing in a more masculine vibe in my outfits as well as putting in some colours. That's the great thing about clothing, you can use it to express yourself and it can be so personal!!

Your capsule wardrobes have always been my favourite! Everyone else seems to do a Breton shirt, black slacks, tan coat, etc. Classic...but a tad boring! I've enjoyed seeing your wardrobe transition from one that was appropriate for country living, to one that works beautifully for Parisian life. It's so interesting to see the wardrobe pieces that worked for both lifestyles!

awh that's so great to hear, thank you! Yes, I tried all of that and never felt less like myself to be honest. It's been super interesting to see what works for both and what doesn't. Some pieces I've owned for years and years now

Thanks to you I completely revamped my wardrobe. I had roughly 100 pieces, but only reaching for about a quarter of that. I did what you said. Zoned in on a neutral palette since this hues are my favorite. I chose my three words that best describe my style. Refined, classic, feminine. Then I took each piece and asked myself, do I love it?? Will I wear it?? How do I feel when I wear this?? Do I reach for this piece.?? Thru this process I have narrowed my wardrobe down to about 35 pieces of things I love and wear. Also deciding to choose now quality over quantity. I now can keep all 4 seasons of clothing in my closet because everything can easily mix and match. Thank you for inspiring me and giving us such beautiful, informative content.

I’m slowly watching all your vlogs. My spoons are limited as I am healing from trauma and so I am also drawn to a minimalist lifestyle. I am also creating a capsule wardrobe. I am also focused on better connecting to myself and others. I therefore find your vlogs very calming, inspiring and they give me further validation and permission to slow down and be me when everyone and everything around me seems to be rushing by. So writing this with gratitude and appreciation. Thank you 🙏 😊

I think the Lily Silk cable knit sweater is my favorite piece. It’s probably so versatile. I, as the Brits say, don’t fancy grey on me. I try to use blue as a color & a neutral.

I hope you decide to do more than 12 videos for vlogmas. I really look forward to seeing them. I have two capsule wardrobes. One is for when I travel to very hot climates and the other is for the climate here in Bogotá ( around 5 degrees Celsius to 17 degrees Celsius). I love your capsule wardrobe even though we have different styles, and it’s probably because it shows your personality.

You were my first introduction to capsule wardrobes many years ago, before you started on youtube. My capsule has gone through many iterations as my style and life needs have changed, and I'm learning to accept that a good capsule will evolve, and to be okay with letting things go. I am in the midst of my third style evolution since 2018, and I feel quietly confident about the process by referring to your ebook. Thanks again, from a long time fan 😊

Yay!!! So enjoyed. It is so cool to see your journey of a capsule wardrobe. I love the concept of a capsule wardrobe and working to redo my own through many life changes to his year. I also love dressing for my body shape. It's so funny to think wow I knew the styles best fitted for me because of intuition, but I ignored it for trends...and then realized wait I had it. 😂 Loved the video.

Another thoughtful relaxing vlog . I could easily wear your wardrobe . I love your style , I’m 5’2” petite and an inverted triangle . I love feminine cloths and pink is my accent color , not all pinks though , it has to be the right shade of pink . So I’m always curious when you “fill in the gaps” it gives me inspiration 😊 have you ever looked at Doen . They are pricey but have some of the most feminine tops in basic colors . The other really wonderful company is Emerson Fry , again a little pricey but the cloths are created in small quantities with attention to detail . Like fabric covered button which make a shirt look so polished .

I'd be curious to hear your guidance on how to approach a capsule for someone like me whose weight fluctuates 1-2 sizes fairly regularly. It makes keeping a small curated wardrobe and knowing what/how to buy items more challenging for sure.
@Wanda-v4b
@Wanda-v4b Жыл бұрын
My weight fluctuates and I just keep an off size bin to rotate things in and out of. I also just want more so I’m not doing laundry every 15 minutes with sticky toddler hands. It has to fit your life. If it’s causing you more stress that’s not the point.
@JessicaRoseWilliams

this sounds hard for you. any change is hard let alone change with your body so I can only imagine. the good thing is you're aware of it so you can accommodate. I know a lot of people that have multiple items in their wardrobe in different sizes. my usual advice is if you haven't worn something in 6 months to a year you're not likely to but in your case I'd say make an exception to this and be open. the best thing to do when there is any kind of pressure is to relieve the pressure, so that might mean keeping clothes in different sizes. the most important thing is not to get fixated on your wardrobe having to look like everyone else's or fit to an ideal you have in your head. try to let it flow and let it be uniquely yours, unapologetically and with self acceptance ❤️

I enjoyed this vlog. I'd love to simplify my wardrobe more. I'd love to simplify my home living space more. I really find it hard. I need to start somewhere but I tend to then think of the bigger picture and everything else that I need to do that I get overwhelmed and just don't do anything. I feel at the age of 36 I really should have a tidier house, a less cluttered space, more rigid morning and evening self care routines, better meal planning and cooking routine but it's just always tipped in one way or slight chaos in all areas.

I remember reading a decluttering expert who recommended that you start in the bathroom. It's a small room, and there aren't usually sentimental items that make decluttering decisions difficult. Getting rid of expired makeup, hair appliances you don't use, etc, can start the momentum to tackle other rooms:)
@JessicaRoseWilliams
@JessicaRoseWilliams Жыл бұрын
oh I totally get it...first thing I noticed is the language you used - 'I should' I'd try to shift that to 'I want' and think about the why behind it. Shoulds can be very dangerous and self-destructive but totally understandable. The best advice I can give you is to start small. That might be a junk drawer or the bathroom like the recommendation below. Slowly slowly you'll start to build momentum but having a strong why behind it will be what propels and motivates you ❤️
@JessicaRoseWilliams
@JessicaRoseWilliams Жыл бұрын
love this tip! thank you so much for sharing
@Dontletthemdullyoursparkle

Thanks both. Good advice. I think I do need to shift how I think about it then. Start small is exactly what I need to do. I tend to think ill do that pile of paperwork on the kitchen side but then I think, the washing up, the oven, the fridge, the dusting, the other room, the garden, Xmas and its tricky hahaha. Need to focus on the small task at hand and block other stuff out. Starting with bathroom is good idea x

so I had a pair of heeled sandals that died one night dancing in Ibiza with my friend this summer and they will need to be replaced but not until next year now. I've been toying with the idea of a different bag for a while but haven't found the right one yet. I love the idea of a trench and everyone in Paris makes them look soooooooo chic but I'm yet to find one I actually like on me. I find them too masculine.
