I love what you share about the things we're told not to do actually being the things that are often most conducive to making great creative work. I feel like my main job as an artist is actively not slipping into the old 9-5 ideas. Thanks so much for this Jessica. I don't know anyone IRL that does 'this'. Sometimes, I find when it's just me and my brain/creativity, it feels like I can't see the wood for the trees. It's not always easy to navigate, day after day, month after month, year after year. As you say, there is such a contrast between the creative side and the business. Excellent advice, especially for a relative newcomer, such as myself. I've been building a KZbin channel around my art creation and its been an interesting process. Your observations around the need to nurture a guilt-free approach to a creative lifestyle can not be overstated. I regularly have to remind myself that my process includes periods of contemplation, quiet, and rest. Lovely, as always.

What an amazing adventure. How lovely that you could experience it with your mother. One of my favourite experiences was a horseback trip in the Canadian Rockies. Returning to civilization after 7 days in the wilderness was so incredibly jarring to my senses. I wanted to turn my horse around and go back. 😄

I'm so glad you have discovered South Africa! We go every year, it's such an amazing and beautiful country, with very friendly people. The Garden Route is incredible, and safari at Kruger doesn't disappoint - keep having fun. The food is phenomenal too!
