What is the square footage of the single room? If you don't mind me asking 😊
@NYRARACHELLE3 жыл бұрын
You’re fine to ask! Unfortunately, I just don’t know the answer lmboo. I tried to do a quick google and came up with the floor plan though: housing.osu.edu/posts/floorplans/residence-hall-at-2125-n-high-street_b47_t168.pdf Hope that helps!

would you recommend west campus or south campus for freshman?
@NYRARACHELLE3 жыл бұрын
Hmm that’s a good question! I actually lived on West Campus my freshman year in Lincoln Tower & it’s kind of far from everything but the stadium and the bigger gym lol, which is good or bad depending on what you like! You also have to walk up a slight hill to get to your classes everyday or you can take the bus system. South campus has more residence halls and it’s closer to the Union, the oval, High street, and some lecture halls! So it really just depends on what you’re looking for if you get the option to pick! I actually preferred North Campus when I lived there 😊

Do single dorms get lonely or is it pretty manageable?
@NYRARACHELLE2 жыл бұрын
Ooh, that’s a good question that I really don’t think a lot of people consider!! I would say for me it was pretty manageable because with a campus full of people and socializing all day, it was nice to have those moments to be in my own space, comfortably! The previous year, I shared a dorm with 11 other girls, which actually turned out fine, but I was really able to appreciate the single because of that! Lol! Plus, I made the effort to go hangout with friends and/or get outside of that comfort zone when I craved that too! On the other hand, I would say, if you’re someone that tends to stay to yourself or hasn’t had the chance to make many solid connections yet, it’s important to make the effort to curate that community, attend events you’re interested in and just get out of the dorm and hangout with others. If not, I believe you really can find yourself feeling lonely, since most time outside of the dorm is spent in lectures!

Where did you get your desk bookshelf if you bought that separately!! I’ve been looking for something like that

Awe I wish I could help!! All of the large furniture came with the dorm, so it was provided by tOSU’s residence life 😬

How did you get a single?
@NYRARACHELLE2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, if I’m remembering right, I just did my usual preference application for housing & was placed into a different room and setting, BUT they had an option or a different part of the site to request preference for a single, as well. With this, I think I had to provide a short amount of reasoning and just wait for a response, because there are a limited portion on campus! & one day during the summer before the semester started, I got a call from housing asking if I was still interested, I said yes, and they changed my housing for that next year and I had a single 🤪😂! Sorry I can’t remember the specifics that well because this was so long ago, but I hope that helps!!

want is your best about colleges and want is your challenges about colleges.
@NYRARACHELLE3 жыл бұрын
Ooh, those are good questions! I’d say the best about colleges is that you’re able to learn about life and learn about subjects that you are actually interested in, in an environment where the people around you are going through some of the same things! You get to start your transition into adulthood and make successes and mistakes alongside peers and mentors. I’d say my challenges with colleges is almost the same thing because you’re getting used to living life outside of your usual comfort zone and learning on a different & more challenging level than you ever have before (inside and outside of the classroom). & that can be hard at times, but it can be fun too! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting!! 💕

Was it easy to make new friends at Ohio, in your experience?
@NYRARACHELLE3 жыл бұрын
You know what? In my experience, I’m typically pretty shy, but I feel like it was easy, because I was intentional about putting myself out there and giving people a try from all walks of life & meeting points (Roommates, Classes, Organizations, Friend of a friend, etc). For example, my freshman year, I applied for early arrival programs so that I could have more time to get acquainted to campus and make friends outside of class, and that’s actually where I met my best friend! So I think just keep an open mind, give people & activities a try (you’re not stuck with them lol), and remember that almost everyone’s in your shoes, hoping for friendship and community in a new place too! It’ll be easy in that way!

Nope! I really enjoyed the window in that room, plus the building across was still being built, so there were no occupants and you couldn’t see inside from below 🤗
