Beautiful cruise! The homes, buildings, boating clubs and other architecture along the route were so interesting! All manner of watercraft kept my interest as well. The beautiful sailboats ahead of you at the beginning of the cruise were spectacular. I also loved the little paddle craft toward the end of the vlog as well...my first time seeing something like that in one of your vlogs. Welcome back George...you were missed!

Whilst you were roaring about the boring mooring in Goring outside it was pouring and soon il be snoring! (my bedtime viewing 😉) Great video once again, thanks guys. p.s. A few years back I kayaked the entire Thames with a friend and it was great to see some of the locks and familiar landmarks we passed.

I last moored at Pangbourne where you were 20 years ago on 17th June Father’s Day, where my late father and I took a stroll to the Swan 🦢 to reward ourselves as being great dads🙄, my second son was only 1 then, in 7 weeks he will join me and my daughter on the Stratford for our annual family cruise, bought many happy memories that. 👍

What a shame you did it so fast, I was hoping to see all the places I now miss. But thank you for what I did see. I kept Lazy Days a Dunkirk Little Ship on the Old Windsor Weir run at Wraysbury for two years. Once made the run from Limehouse to the mooring in one trip, back in the days when you have to wind the hydraulic rams by hand after lock keepers hours. Then there was The Classic Boat Rally at Henley again a one day passage, ready for work next morning. Now Mapledurham that's another story. Stayed in a luxury caravan in a field beside the church, as part of the location crew for the making of the film The Eagle Has Landed. A village was built beside the church and the Lord of the Manor would only allow filming of the outside. So an interior was built in the field for the fight scenes. We supplied all the WWII vehicles and did the stunt driving. All great fun and the weather was wonderful. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the Thames trip so much this time, I think you like to explore new rivers and canals. I like to explore further afield from the waterways I've travelled. But each to their own. Hope you enjoy Lechlade and have a beer or three for me.
@MinimalList6 жыл бұрын
We did the Thames in quite a number of videos last year, that and getting Jo back closer to real time is why we truncated this year's return up it. We like finding new places and seeing new things. The Eagle has Landed sounds like fun. M

Chris is great! "Give it some chuff!" And yeah, it takes time, though really I think a lot of it comes down to having a boat with good swim characteristics for it. Also having bowthrusters there when you need them doesn't hurt! M

I just recently went back and re-watched your early videos, so this was sort of like watching a summary of the last dozen or so videos I've watched; which is mildly amusing. Michael looked so very tired at Windsor, I think it was Windsor. The tidal Thames must've done Jo some good, if she's now almost swimming in the non-tidal portion.

Well thank you for watching, and for the support! Glad you like them! We've run into quite a few viewers, including some Americans, so you never know! Though we're a bit unsure where the heck we'll be on the system next year! But if you see us, catching up would be great! M

Crusing along on a mirror like water surface must be unreal. It looks so majestic BTW where is the music while in Time Lapse
@MinimalList3 жыл бұрын
Ahh, some of the older videos used music that wasn’t properly licensed (well, it was, but the musician sold the work on and the new people didn’t honor the old license and google’s automated copyright system decided for them) and the only thing we could do was let google erase those sections of music, I’m afraid. Are there no free public moorings in Henley (or other Thames towns)?
@MinimalList5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure anything is free in Henley. There are designated moorings along the Thames, and most (but not all) are free for the first night. Henley though seems to rather discourage the riffraff. M

It’s quite possible if there’s dropouts on the timelapse sections... we haven’t had too many such issues, but they have bitten some of the older videos. M
@robwilkie14 жыл бұрын

@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sadly it’s an automatic thing that Google does, and even when we dispute the copyright claim successfully it doesn’t automatically get put back. Unfortunately Google doesn’t let us re-upload the video without treating it as a new video, which causes all sorts of problems with notifications. M
@jonathanribee80984 жыл бұрын
It would seem YT is a bit clunky - like the tech doesn't fully support the latest iteration of the business model. In some ways you'd expect that the new technologies wouldn't be having problems that are hard to fix (like Y2K legacy problems) yet - but in other ways I suppose the pace of change, new services, big data - unless you re-port to a new environment on a very regular basis is is going to get clunky.
@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
To be fair to YT it’s been a bit clunky all along... they can’t really spend all that much money making solutions to copyright issues any less clunky because the elected idiots of the world can’t seem to make up their mind on what should actually be copyrighted or not for more than a few milliseconds in a row! M

Watching all your vids from the beginning and enjoying immensely. The last few videos, however, have had strange audio drop-outs, and it seems to be just the musical interludes. Is it a licensing issue or something?

Bit of a long story (I've got to do a tattoo video at some point, as it comes up relatively often), but it was my first "reset" date, aka Michael 2.0 ... in Arabic numbers are usually read left to right, words right to left... dates get a bit funny, depending on if they're hijira or Gregorian, and who is writing them. But read that one right to left, and you get the first of several do-over/level up dates in my life. M

So when you guys are on rivers like the Thames, do the canal speed limits apply, or can you burn the carbon out of the engine?
@suedolly70816 жыл бұрын
Looks like you are moored exactly where we spent 2 nights in Oxford in June last year. Hired a boat at Aldermaston. Oxford was our northern most mooring. Time on the Thames was fun but much preferred the K&A. Quieter...lots of friendly boaters. A trip of a lifetime.😁
@richardendersby79876 жыл бұрын
On the non tidal part, the limit is 5mph, so a whole 1mph faster. But slowing down to tickover past moored boats isn't needed so much.
@ChrisJames19736 жыл бұрын
Spread limit is 8KMH although I’m not sure many stick to it!
@Chuck59ish6 жыл бұрын
Since jo & Michael are getting passed by everything under the sun, I don't think they were doing the speed limit of 8 km/h.
@MinimalList6 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest, without the flood tide pushing us, I'm not sure we could make it abobe 5mph relative to just about anything not moving the opposite direction. These things aren't race cars! M
