When the public loses trust in someone that owns multiple businesses because their one business was fraudulent, it effects the other businesses. They are related because logan is involved in both. Simon isn't going to comment on it and that makes sense. He wanted to make the reaction for views and to help JJ but didn't think people would care much about the logan aspect.
