This time we're checking out that X-Men Origins Wolverine game that is way cooler than you'd expect it to be (also X-Men Origins Wolverine is a pretty fun movie I'll argue with anyone who disagrees even though it's very dodgy) thanks.

I have to completely agree. Ps3 back then for alot of developers was a major hassle. Just look at gabe n from valve and how he talks about the issues with developing games for the ps3 and thats on the source engine.. . I do remember playing the 360 version and it having memory problems or fps drops but not as bad as the ps3

@@brolyrules14 I'm PlayStation over xbox any day but I must admit ps3 definitely had some drawbacks for that exact reason it wasnt very dev friendly luckily ps4 became dev friendlier. It was certainly a fun game and I think they should've been the ones who worked on the Deadpool game. Or another Wolverine game that wasn't so tied to the movie. In fact, the game gets the most interesting when it breaks away from it. The boss battle against the Sentinel was just awesome. A shame Raven now just does COD stuff because, with a bit more time and polish, a sequel to Wolverine or a similar game starring Deadpool would be a great game to fill the void left by the old God of War games when the series decided to try something new (and great, in my opinion. It's different but awesome like how pizza and burgers are both awesome in their own right but one is hardly a replacement for the other).

Man I used to love playing this game when I discovered it (always on pc btw). The regeneration mechanics are absolutely badass. I was always very confused by the story as I didn't even see the movie, but hearing about the FOX deal makes sense.

The PC port is amazing. This was the first "proper" game I played when i was young. I had a super low-end PC for the time, and this game used to slow down to around 5-10 fps whenever there's water in the scene.

You have one of the best KZbin’s man. No political bs on your channel just nostalgia and looking back on fun games from the time when games were just meant for fun
@FraserSouris

Firstly, there were always games that were made just for fun and games made to be something more. That isn't something that changed. 2007-2009 had X-Men Origins, but it also had Metal Gear Solid 4 and its whole story on the economic reliance of war. Assassin's Creed with its story on how cults and religion dictate behaviour. Fallout 3 and its whole deal with nuclear war... and many many more. And fun fact, the X-Men themselves were created as an allegory for the 60's civil rights movement (the whole protection for Mutants) so to pretend politics doesn't exist is a little silly

Check it, in the sabertooth boss fight in the bar if you smash the jukebox you get one of a couple of songs. One of them sounds suspiciously like the office jukebox in Devil May Cry 3 in the first mission.

I played this game on the PC despite the draconian GFWL bullshit. Loved it. Don't expect Arkham level greatness. It's better than the Watchmen and Deadpool game, but it didn't set the gaming world on fire. In terms of "movie licensed" games, it's up there with the likes of Goldeneye and Escape from Butcher Bay. Arguably better than its movie counterpart.

Even when this game came out it was so bizarre. It's a M rated game for a PG-13 movie and it surpassed everyone expectations. I was also thinking about this game a couple days ago and found it funny that it rarely comes up in conversation for movie tie-in games that are actually really good.

I don’t even recall origins itself being a bad movie. Just as a movie, I think it served a purpose. We got hugh reprising HIS role (as a kid whose first in theater movie was 2000’s X-men, he IS wolverine) Liev Schreiber who imo was and could still be a phenomenal saber tooth. We got a bizarre iteration of Deadpool, but it was still his first on screen appearance and even in the beginning we see reynolds capture exactly what and who the character is before he ever got his solo movies. But that’s the issue. The movie gave us a lot, I just think it was a lot of stuff nobody necessarily asked for

Xmen Origins Wolverine was the last game I remember playing that had actual button-inputted cheat codes rather than passwords or secret unlocks for the fun stuff. That said, it's just what I remember, I'm sure I've played a cheat-code game since, but there aren't that many in the current gen. Also I'm sure it was a joke but in case it wasn't, this DID come out before Arkham. They ripped THIS off, change my mind.
