One of the reasons for corruption within the government parastatal is poor remuneration.

The Labour Union Leaders are always taking the Nigerian Workers for granted. So there may come a time of civil disobedience against strike actions.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves, labour should employ the service of experts in decision making. This lust for exorbitant minimum wage isn't realistic. Why? It will affect all the strata of the society and every aspect of the economy. This will bring about a serious inflation. Let us learn from what Burkina Faso did now. Let's focus on security and the agricultural sector. Once there is abundance and improvement in exportation, things will definitely improve. The basic problem is scarcity of rural products, services and finance. How do we keep the farm and farmers save? This should be the point of focus for labour. Any severe increase in wages will amount to severity of living in Nigeria. Mark my words. My advice is, settle for that of government's increase with conditions on improving security especially for the benefit of the farmers'. Shikena Another thing, should in case of any strike, stop destructing essential services. They should always be giving exemption preferences eg Electrical, water, waste disposal and health (hospital) services My opinion though. I pray as well for God to divinely touch and guide our leaders to rule aright in Jesus Christ Name. Amen

Agbadorian economist. Then why is Thiefnubu and his gang looting the treasury. Does that not cause inflation?

The best then is to join him in the loot now. Wait and watch now. Collect your money and be sacked or owed months of accumulated salary. Keep standing on fallacy

The best solution to my own view in Nigeria hardship today is to bring down the price of petroleum products to 100 naira if truly the people who have the opportunity to be called FG have the country Nigeria citizens at heart.

Are you hearing yourself? Don't you know that the minimum wage doesn't apply only to government institutions but also non government institutions. Do you know the backlash it'll cost when too much money is in circulation?

@@yonmotarela1280 minimum wage isn't for only government workers, young man. An increase in the minimum wage would mean private institutions and state institutions would also pay their workers this minimum wage. Now an increase in minimum wage to 250k represents more than 700% increase in the salary of every worker. So the professor that earns 416k would earn up to 3.5 million naira, if the division goes round. Now granted the government can pay such exorbitant bills, what of the private universities and state universities. That's just one problem, now let's say government pay all that money, how much money would they use to implement changes in the society? Or don't the government require money to commission projects? Finally, there's the problem of inflation. The market lady sees that the lowest official is earning 250k and she barely goes home with 25k per day. She then increases the prices of her goods to about 10x the previous price to meet up with the new minimum wage. This results in the naira being too much in circulation and then the naira loses its value. This should be at least considered by the labour unions, but we've not even heard a suitable defense from them. Anyways, the Lord bless you, young man.

Even the private sector are not downsizing just to sustain business.or let even talk about people who doesn't work under government.are we not buying the same thing at the market???...... Labour are just fighting for them selves,ok what if the FG agrees and increase fuel to 3k will labour oppose?? .. Let's fight together and stop being an hypocrite....

Most times emotion blinds us from the truth.Wage increase will only cause inflation and retrenchment. NLC should agree to less than 60,000 naira on the following conditions 50 percent reduction of presidency and NASS expenditure Workers earning less than 6000 naira a month should pay no taxes indefinitely and suspension of taxes for workers on level 16 and below for 6 months. Students with family income of less than 120000 a month should not pay a dime for tertiary education Federal government should stop monthly allocation to states once they fail to pay their workers All government agencies should buy made in Nigeria vehicles No international trips for all government functionaries for the next one year The Lagos- Calabar road should continue only after at least 2 dysfunctional roads in each of the 6 regions has been rehabilitated CNG buses should be made available to all the 36 states within a month Provide security to farmers especially those producing staple food products Free medical and dental mobile clinics in at least 2 cities per state
