I'm pretty new to this channel. I'm really excited to know this is so close to my home. I only live about 20 minutes away from lytle creek. My fiance an I have become more and more excited about hiking. And you've introduced us to some amazing places to visit so close to home. I greatly appreciate the Wunderlist instilled in your hearts. It's allowed us to find our way to reconnecting to our mother nature. Continue doing what you do. We are routing for you!!!

@@HuckOutdoors We used to ride our horses to this water fall, we lived 1/2mile from there. I wish I had never sold my beautiful home there, could never afford to buy it back. Back wen i bot in 1988 almost no one knew about Yucaipa.

Good vid! David and I had gone there 2 or 3 years ago. We cooked bacon and eggs and coffee. There had been bear sittings a day prior! We were pushing our luck for sure. Always keep your Spidey senses alert for bear back there. Thanks for showing everyone, there is so much history there, people don’t realize it.

Lots of history back there! Not many people travel that far up the canyon. One of the other foundations up there has been torn down by someone in the last year. That one was close by the parking lot.

The falls are awesome after a heavy winter! Love taking my kids there. My uncle had a friend when they were teens who climbed the main fall and suffered a fatal fall to the bottom

Me and my gramps took a metal detector up there and searched the place for hours, found a couple bottle caps, beer bottles, etc

Hey Huck - Aloha brother. I actually watch this adventure yesterday when you put it up but was too busy packing and packed my wife(lani) for our adventure today to respond. We bagged two waterfalls today hiking with the pups and only one time man down. Woohoo. Anyways thanks for the video and i loved watching it. you pretending to smoke a pipe was hilarious lol. Huck Outdoors - Sturtevant in the am and after panini at Chantry flats food stand/store we went and hiked Mt Lowe fire road/Sunset ridge trail through Millard camp and on to the falls. Set up my Deschutes Plus left of the falls against the rock (some people called it a mini teepee lol) for practice and chilled for about an hour or so with coffee/hot chocolate and hiked out as it got dark. Was home in LB @ 7:30 pm. My little dogs were beat!! Fun family day.

I grew up just under chantry flats in North Arcadia. In the late 60s-70s used to take my wolf up there & let him run free. The river was broad, full and you didnt want to cross it. I loved the forestry cabins built literally feet above & at the edge of the raging river. We trekked all over that mtn & Azusa Cyn too. In the 1960s-70s Our dad belonged to a camping club & we camped in our camper at the edge of the Azusa River. It was a huge fast moving river & we did not go in it. We made a fire on the rivers edge & cooked our dinners (steak, baked potatoes) & hot choc of course! Back then no one liked to camp, we were considered WEIRD. We also camped in the deserts. Out of Joshua Tree we found Gen Patton's old fort site where he practiced with troops during WW2. My dad having served in that war greatly respected Gen Patton. It moved him to tears to find the stone outlines of each tent, you could easily make out the paths tween them. You could see where the Chapel had been, the alter was still there (made of rock). There were empty ration cans all over. This was only a couple decades after the war ended. I got married & we eventually bot a beautiful home up near Oak Glen. We would ride our horses to the falls. It was better back then. Yucaipa was less populated & you bot your eggs fresh from the egg farms located near Oak Glen Rd & Fremont St. And bought our produce from produce stands set up at Oak Glen Rd & Yucaipa Blvd, where BofA is now. That tract of homes & golf course used to be grapefruit & orange orchards. Until 1995, gas stations in Yucaipa accepted checks & that was unheard of! It wasnt spoiled yet.

Funny story, we stayed home Black Friday for the crowds. What crowds they gonna make a run at true value or Rite Aid the only stores in town. Kicking it in Phelan...shoulda gone for a hike.

there are foundations from anther, I think mining camp just before the bridge coming up to FF on the left. if you slow down on the bend and look left you'll see a piece of a foundation, and there are more further in. so if you want to explore more? have fun

If that is Holcomb Valley the foundation is the bar but I think that it might have been a store too. If you've ever heard the story about Holcomb Valley you know it's a pretty crazy one! They were separated from the rest of thethe country for a long time when the miners pitched in to create a new American flag. The flag was completed when some people from down the hill cameand told them that the flag was wrong because there are more states in the union! the miners couldn't believe it and a gunfight ensued where six people where shot and killed. (6 to 8 don't remember for sure think there's a video on KZbin)👍

Yucaipaian since 1962, YHS class of 70. At thurman flats I climbed the ridge to a path. Up the creek to where the path ended with a stone structure and a pipe entry. Water entered there and headed down stream, The path is on top of the pipe. The pipe crossed a cliff and it is (was) exposed to everyone going up Mill Creek. The pipe crossed a guilch ( it was a tressel where the upper half was exposed and had a grating over it to keep critters from falling in) the pipe continued , but I stopped at this point. I went back to the ridge and went down to thurman flats pick nick area. Time went on and I moved near the east coast. Eventually I moved back to Yucca Pee Pee and the pipe on the cliff is long gone, Water at Thurman Flats was too dangerous to cross. I am now 72 and too tired to try and climb the ridge. The pipe on the cliff is gone , so why try? the pipe entrance up stream is probably destroyed too. I did the climb around 1969 I think. Those were The Days.....

That was on my list of laces to go, many years ago. But USFS gated the old road. The floods did the rest. And the crying shame is that it would hurt NOTHING and would be a great Jeep trail. But hey. It's public land. Stay off!
