you fellers are fun to watch,howdy from hangtown california the heart of the motherlode. i am actually a 1850 type of miner, i own a original 1850 gold mine,35 acres of rock and rattlesnakes i work the mine when i want to,its blasted hot right now too hot to swing a pick.the creeks out here dry up this time of year thats why hangtown is called dry diggins.... my favorite 1850 gold pan is a cast iron frying pan,which is what most 49rs used,, I notice you guys ain't wearing pistols must be a Australian law or something. I always wear a 44 for claim jumpers or mountain lions. click my big green G for how us 49rs operate OLD 49r TIP.. when the miners from china were here they used flat bedrock to chisels riffles into the rock making a permanent sluice box and they are still here, ive used them often in weber creek and hangtown creek. imagine a 150 year old sluice box modern chisels make them deeper

Nice sapphires and garnets up here in the top end of the state. So for your FYI: as you said the minimum basic wage per hour in 2024 in Australia is around AU$23,23 which is around US15.50/hr. And the 2024 USA mandated basic wage is around US$7.70. But Columbia district has the highest minmum wage of US$17/hr.

I've been trying to concentrate gold with a 45. A 45° Bucket that is. Find a place in the stream where you can tip a bucket and have the water swirl in the bucket and overflow. Create a vortex. Now spend a half hour slowly shovelling dirt into the bucket and let the water wash away anything light. After a while you will have nothing left but black sand and heavies. It works amazingly well with the right water flow.
@bjvoorhies3 ай бұрын
When using the river to concentrate the bank gold, how about raking the river dumped stuff to stir up it and allowing the lights to leave easier and the heavies to sink? ....like creating a "better full creak natural sluice". Great vid, by the way. Different ways to look at things. Fun. Thanks!

I use the 'river-as-a-sluice' idea as a quick'n'dirty test for gold dust. Find a flat rock with some water flow over it and drop a small scoop on it. Wait a moment and in the sunlight if there's gold it sure shows itself. Very fast testing however is susceptible to false signals from Pyrites and Mica, etc.

So it’s not all about the gold as well for money you can make money off the tin and gems or crystals as so if you were to hunt and butcher you could probably get some meat to sell ect being out side with your natural resources you could make really good money on all this total up and over time you definitely could do great looking for gold but also making money in different ways . So you might not make 23 a hour on gold but every thing you could do you could make more. Great videos like all ways.
