Came here to see if anyone was talking about that as well. 'Streamer blindness'. It is pretty surprising how much of our brain we need to keep a running commentary going, and the stuff we are multitasking at the same time suffers with the exception of 'muscle memory' kind of things. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can even be vaguely competent while commentating.

When I do long wiring runs, I like to put a standing lamp halfway between the base and outpost. Gives you somewhere for the wire to run and also a visual marker in case hills are between you and the outpost itself.

I guess it's personal preference. I hate seeing the wires so I bury them; I dig down to a point where I'm underground for both ends (if one is higher than the other), then just mine forwards to the base dragging the wire, splitting it as I go if over 300u or w/e. tip: by looking back the way you came you can determine if you're going up / down instead of straight and correct accordingly.

I like creating power towers too! When I create mine I use the scanner to find the highest percent spot, then press E to drop a flag there. Then I back away a little and go into build camera. Fly all the way up to the top of the build camera dome and look straight down. Align the target reticle perfectly to the flag you placed in scan mode. Then build the power generator. You can spam the build button and they will quickly build on top of each other perfectly until they reach your build camera. You can also build a platform to stand on and repeat the steps to go even higher. -Hope this helps someone.

@Gravnaut
@Gravnaut 3 жыл бұрын
To make the extractors noiseless while you are there you can couple a proximity switch to a power inverter and wire the extractors from the power inverter. DO NOT have your teleporter or save points within that noise free area though. There MUST be noise when you teleport away or when you use your save point/save beacon, otherwise the extractors will have been off the entire time you were away... learned that the hard way :)

You can use your normal analysis visor to see the exact spot where your hotspots are, much easier than trying to find it by moving around. You can also then select it to see it without the visor but have to be about 30u away else it disappears. You can hold the "delete" button (left trigger on xbox, think it's ctrl on pc) while building to use the curser to get the exact spot, then release it to place. With wiring I like to use the standing lights. Edit: I like to build my silos (collection point) away from the miners... So the noise doesn't drive me batty!

I've built a stasis farm over several planets and creating the stasis devices in my freighter inventory. Followed xaine's guide to a point. Along with his recommendations to split over several planets not just the basic 3 biomes as I'm on console (ps4). The plants are the biggest pain on stasis farms. The sheer amount of bio domes that are needed. 23 each of frostwort,gamma weed, solarium, and star bulb, then 4 of two others.
@toddmiller5322
@toddmiller5322 3 жыл бұрын
More than even that really. I didn't run the numbers to confirm, but it appeared that his way required you to switch out plants to do it with that few number of domes. I mean who wants to be bound to a schedule and having to switch plants out back and forth for every batch? So I set mine up to leisurely produce 64 stasis units every 24 hours instead of the longest growth period. This also reduced material requirements for the remote resource bases as they had a longer time in which to collect. His way is more efficient in production time, but not very player friendly. So instead I constructed a 160 dome horticulture base with 4 equal length sections. Let me tell you, that was a hell of a lot of Silicate. Only 3 sections(120 domes) are dedicated to stasis devices, the 4th being for other stuff I want to grow. The worst part for me was waiting for harvest time on base to get 100% propagation. I mean sure I could have grinded out farming all the initial plants on their respective planets, I just had other more fun things to do. So now when I want to whip up a batch I make my extraction base rounds, run sideways down each hallway hitting "E" and then come up the other side doing the same. Repeat that last sentence for two other hallways and I'm ready to start combining. It's insanely efficient in how little of my time it takes to make a billion if I choose to sell.

I use Two small round pillars stacked up and place a lamp post on top, connect the wires from lamp post to lamp post for nicer looking wire wire runs. Other tricks I do Is to put a supply depot next to my landing pad or teleporter. Then I pipe that supply D to a bigger group of Supply D. Because they act is one depot you can land and just get your Goodies. No running to your mining setup. I have a few bases that have minerals and gas together. This keep my Base area away from the Banging lol

just a few things.. If you are starting out, your target minerals should be parafinium/rusted metal and copper to start (planets with these traits). Both of these get refined into ferrite dust and chromatic metal, a staple in nms.... you can about 6 to 8 medium refiners constantly pumping out what you need until you have ample supply ( ferite dust mainly for mine building).staple minerals should come before trying to cash in on high profit minerals/gas, that way you can pump out the mines quick with plenty of mats. Setup. For staples ( daily mats, mins im going to consume), i just drop solar panels for day time only running and bypass looking for ground power. if its my cash cow then i will spend the time to find higher class mine with ground power nearby,. Normally my setup starts with a cylindrical foundation, cylindrical room with windows, door, and a base teleport module stuffed inside a straight corridor (normally planted dead center between ground power location and mine). I set up a short range teleporter from the base teleport module to right next to the operation , so its in and out. when going collecting. If there are secondary collection types, like storm crystals, gravitino balls etc etc, il add a roamer to go safari and come right back Power is simple,, if I find ground power at the site, then its a matter of throwing down enough to keep me going... if im running solar, then ill have a large bank of solar to push the refiners w no batteries, then a couple of panels not connected to the main bank to run the teleporters and habitat... for this i add batteries . Naming conventions: it helps to rename your base to identify the planet type, what you are mining and possibly if you found other things of interest there... For example: i might name a site tropical Parafinium mine 1.. If i found an exotic ship i want to farm or collect, then i might add an identifier lik sh-ex-wings- or royal weapon maybe like RWep-A something like that, Mine placement - im old school i like a flat setup. I think thqat the cheapest and quickest solution is to drop wood floor panels ( about 6 to start) then use terrain manipulator to flatten over the wood panels.. the pannels are a good indicator to place them in lines. .... i normally make a good walk space between banks of say 5 storage silos, to double check my piping connections and to be able to mine out glitched in terrain that decided to show up. So the panels arent suspended in air, i just terrain maniplulate create base, then flatten that out... but i lay out the wood panels first. Storage and transport: thats really up to you how you want to approach this... but this is how i get it done. I have 1 s class hauler (48 base slots) and 2 A class haulers (47 base slots each) this is enough slots across the fleet to get things done ( if you are starting out, then you will have less... but once you start mining, you will have plenty of credits to reinvest back into the operation and by haulers.) to get more slots, i just buy and scrap as many a and s class ships that i can find and collect the storage augmentations that drop as a reward, then i apply and max out the she haulers and done. my main hauler is flight ready and i treat as a ship in that regard... its going to pull all of my collected mats for sale.... When i get to a station to sell,, its nicely separated from my daily use mats in my exosuit inventory.... so i can sell the lot quick. im most likely going to teleport atound to sell, but i might want to fly it if more convenient in some cases. the other 2 haulers are my storage pigs. they have full slot augments, but the tech is left untouched. the ships are named daily mats and crafted mats. as you might imagine, these are the ships carrying my mats around..... to have access to them when i land on a planet where i want to put up a mine quick, i just click X, scroll over to the summon vehicles, select other ship and ii retrieve my mats by pressing e and binding to the ship. its like having on demand storage containers. ( it was a monumental pain warping around when i ran out of mats.. not anymore... super easy to put up a mine) Considerations: yes if you have 3 haulers on fleet, then you lose out on owning other fun ships, but if the goal is to build out a good economy for yourself then this works quite well to expedite that..Think of the haulers as storage boxes on wheels. personally have the 3 haulers, a solar and 3 maxed out exotics that i enjoy flying. $$$: ok whats the mineral of choice? im pretty sure that when nms watches these youtubes, they are prob thinking, nerf, nerf nerf, So my best advice is to put down mines for every mineral/gas represented. this way you future proof combinations for other more exotic minerals down the line and mats you might have to craft that could come out to much more.$$$. If 1 raw material is spiking more than the others in a system, then simply expand that operation and sell to that system. Always consider making 1 facility that is loaded with multiple refiners and storage boxes, so that you can accumulate mats and make more profitable things. Then find that 1 paradise planet to build you dream home on and kick back.. :)
@giralds2016
@giralds2016 Жыл бұрын
oh and as for my ship collection, my suggestion, travel to as many 3 star/2 star systems ( and pirate systems) you have a better chance of finding exotic ships and multitools. check out spaceports and trading posts for the ships, and minor settlements for the weapons. .... tag the system with some identifier to remind you what you got there... turn off multiplayer if searching

They really need to expand the crafting system to allow for the use of more minerals better as well as add items to make that you can *use* . It always seems kinda useless to have these minerals and have there only actual use is making money and nothing else.
@samuelyeet6006
@samuelyeet6006 3 жыл бұрын
True, the game is already so deep, but if they just made a few tweeks and overhauled all the minerals, and honestly made it alittle harder to make money that way.Then the game would feel way more meaningful and satisfying. They should make most of the minerals you can find easily, really cheap, and then make a bunch of them really rare and hard to find, then make you combine them to make better minerals, and then combine those minerals to make even better minerals, and you would have to unlock the recipes for the good ones, and make the recipes kind of a hunt too, and then somewhere down the line you can make a big profit, like satisfactory, or really any of the automated line games, its way more satisfying when you actually work your way up to it, instead of just finding it and slapping cheap mining things down, kinda feels like cheating.
@induralfrosthelm5146
@induralfrosthelm5146 3 жыл бұрын
@@samuelyeet6006 I think it would be pretty hard to make higher teir minerals more rare just because you have such an expansive galaxy to look for them. I would agree that making alloys would be a good way to improve things. My thing is just there is so little about the crafting system that actually makes use of the things you can make outside of selling them. It would be awesome if I could make an alloy that would upgrade the toughness of my ship or improve the power an efficiency of my drives and weapons in a similar fashion to the current ship technology that you can install from nanite purchases. I was kinda disappointed when the recipes that you had to find around the galaxy in secure facilities were added to the anomaly. It cheapened their value and just made them even easier of a thing for making money. Personally I enjoyed the trade system where you could buy system specific items and sell them to other systems that used them and so on in the circle. And while it's useful for when you are warping around to expand your suit slots it's about as much use as it gets since you can mass produce tech to sell fairly easily with far more profits than the trading will ever get you. And then there is the ship scrapping method which is just dumb. I can understand the idea of getting certen tech to expand an improve you ship but it should be at a total loss of value that you put into buying that ship to scrap. The more expensive the ship the better odds of getting the tech you need but that's it none of this stuff to sell to mitigate the cost or even give you a profit off scrapping the ship. Sorry I went on a bit of a tangent there. In the end of it I just want the crafting system to be useful other than as a way to make money.

Fun fact once you get all the parts or even before if salvaged date isnt for you, you can refine them for nanites, i have a completely filled list of parts and i still collect salvaged data for money dont need it it with 400 million, but nanites, I use the batteries as staging posts, then i can use that to spread out further,and slowly extend the base via the battery connections

This may have been posted here or on another video but I meant to add this to one of Bob's videos about exosuit storage. When you die, you lose everything in your main exosuit storage. However, you do not lose what is in your cargo exosuit storage. I found a trade terminal on a planet that has a bunch of drop pod coordinates and I used those to max out my cargo storage. Thankfully, I did this before I died and was able to keep everything stored there.

Honestly, thank you for your excellent tips and tricks, and it's going to/is helping me improve my experience significantly. I can't wait to explore as much of the galaxy as possible. For the power lines and resource pipes I usually build like these power pylon towers that we have here in the Netherlands... just a bunch of arches on top of eachother plus 2 angled walls at the sides on top... I prefer the white panels but I do use wood a lot too... then I slap down a ton of floors between the pylons so I can walk the resource pipes across the distance and snap them to the centre of the top of the pylons... and the wires go on the extremities... I kinda only need 1 wire but I almost always use 2... one on each side of the pylon and then pipe the resources in between... my biggest farm had 6 pipes going from the mining area to the storage area... It gave me around 150 mil every 16 hours with only a C class mine... that's my best resource sink I ever made and j haven't touched it in almost a year xD but it was really awesome to build up and I really liked how it ended up... There should be a video of my building and collecting the activated indium and the copper somewhere on my channel in the NMS playlist (somewhere xD)

The base I ended up building was a little different. Base computer in the near center as you but I have a cylinder room thing in the exact middle (in between power and mine). The mines were not as efficient as yours (as I didn't know they could be stacked.) The mines also lead to silos that were built near my cylinder room thing. Power lead to room and then mines. Locating the deposit was not easy though!

I usually stick with wood construction only to save up salvage modules at the start for power and mining stuff. Then, right after getting warp drive, the first nanites go to drive upgrades to Indium drive. Second base to be an activated Indium mine. Always the easiest trajectory for game start. I always try to collect as many resources per base, at least 3 or 4. Minimize the number of mining bases overall so you can put a base in each galaxy going forward.
@Zuckerpuppekopf
@Zuckerpuppekopf 3 жыл бұрын
This may be cheating a bit, but you can even do a mining base without the survey visor initially. If you have another game in your list, or *even a game in another game grouping*, if you survey with the other game, and plant the survey marker down at a resource in that game....the survey marker (E-key on PC) will automatically show up in every other game you have, even if it is in an entirely different game grouping. There won't be a label on it, but the graphic will still be there. Apparently the survey marker is stored separately for multiplayer use across any and all games, outside the game folder itself.

@toddmiller5322

My methodology at this point is no more than 1 extraction facility per planet for each of the resources that can be collected that way. I don't know why but I've dropped base computers on S classes before and when I returned quite some time later to build and had to move my base computer for some reason, sometimes I've been told the spot was claimed. So now the base has to be uploadable, which of course is one per planet. Also I do want S classes for each material just because, so I will tear down a lower class extractor and rebuild it elsewhere once an S is found for that type. I doubt I'll ever find both mineral and gas S classes together so eventually mine will all just be in pairs.
@Zuckerpuppekopf
@Zuckerpuppekopf 3 жыл бұрын
@@toddmiller5322 If you had an internet hiccup at the time the planet data was being downloaded, or if it was turned off, a base computer won't notify you of prior claims, and it will let you register a new one, but in the past all it did once multiplayer and internet was turned back on was overlay one claim on another leading to rather interesting blends of multiple bases one on top of another. Unless they changed that behavior in a patch, it should still do that. Prior to Origins, when it was necessary to "find" a wild base computer near a galaxy center to quickly run through a galaxy, this is exactly the technique everyone used: they all used the same wild base computer, but in order to all use it they turned off multiplayer, and internet for good measure, so that the wild base computer would appear unused and discoverable when they "found" it using the posted coordinates. Since the Origins patch you don't need to do that, as you can immediately jump to a galaxy center via a portal and set up a base without "portal interference". If you maximize the number of resources collected per base, you should not need more than 6 to 9 bases (scattered on as many planets) to have an permanent flow of all basic resources throughout the game. That usually means each base will have 2 to 5 resources on tap. And unless you are crafting a ton of stasis devices or some other top tier trade item, you probably won't even need to farm since you can just refine plant resources from mineral resources. I usually will mine faecium and rusted metal, so I tend to max out at 8 to 9 bases before my game is fully independent from scrounging around. You could just buy those things too, it's just a convenience for some of the stuff I usually do. I usually set up all these bases right around whatever system my character starts out in, and thereafter I will only build 1 small base per galaxy without any mining to minimize component use (essential if you plan to build a base in each galaxy....otherwise you bump into the construction limit pretty early on).
@toddmiller5322
@toddmiller5322 3 жыл бұрын
@@Zuckerpuppekopf I am set up to be able to build 64 stasis units per day. All of my bases are configured to fill to a capacity of 32,500 within a 24 hour period. Depending on the material density classification that could mean an S class will do it in 12 hours while a C class takes about 23 1/2 hours. This allowed me to use one single compact design so I knew exactly how much material each site would need for construction. I build them to look like a facility and not just a bunch of magically floating extractors/depots with wires and pipes poking out everywhere. My horticulture facility is also set up to provide all the requisite amounts of plant materials that I need in a 24 hour period, without any intervention on my part until harvest. Once every 24 hours seemed like a good metric, balanced between income per day and leisurely play. If I wanted it to feel like it was a job, I'd go back to playing Elite again lol. The reason I will ultimately only have one resource extraction facility per planet is four fold. 1) I want all my sites to be visible to other players. 2) Though I could still have both a mineral and a gas site under #1, the odds of finding 2 S classes within proximity to each other aren't likely. 3) I don't NEED any of them to be an S, I just want them all to be. Consider it a personally set achievement. 4) I prefer to stumble onto my S sites rather than to actively hunt for them, that gets a little boring. I'm constantly doing a quick scan for both materials while in the process of doing other things. If I spot an S I will go check to see if it's of one that I already have at S. If it is I go back to what I was doing while being observant of my position relative to the last scan so I'm quick scanning using 300u-400u overlapping radiuses. If it isn't I mark location and immediately go disassemble the facility that's of a lesser class to build the new one. It's worked quite well so far, 40% of my facilities are currently S class.

A better way for money is to just get some chlorine, Get it in to a medium/large refiner with O2. fill your inventory with chlorine. Find a space station that sell chlorine, sell it all to crash the marked, buy back all your chlorine and what was on the station. Warp to a new station that sell chlorine and do the same all over again. Currently I have 266k chlorine on me. I can sell it for 162k million and buy it back for a fraction of that. So damn easy to make money that way.

After crashing the market, check trade terminals down on the planet, and you may find all of your market crash inventory for sale at -80% You can buy it back for cheap, portal to another system and sell it again at closer to par or above 0%. Sometimes your crash inventory will only appear on a trade terminal a few hours later, so don't try and spreadsheet it and lose sleep over it. If you find it for sale at -80% awesome, free money. And if you make 300 mil from portaling to another station... That's really free money LOL

I had two like the little one in the video, one was yellow with a long spike in front and the other was a "Red Royal". Like you did, I find most of my ships by happenstance soon after arrival at a station or Trading Post. Tell me folks, does it seem like ships leave rather quickly, making it hard to summon a sacrificial ship to trade? If I was actively ship hunting, I would bring it with me just in case. I don't have any at the moment, because all my ships are nice "S" class ships that I want to keep, but who knows I might get bored with one.
