keep in mind that just like how there are only so many ways to skin a cat, there are also only so many ways to build things before it becomes impractical, so if we ever find aliens during their industrial revolution equivalent time period, they would probably be using similar machines as we did, just differently scaled for them or due to materials like some alien wood that can only be cut into ovaloids.

the drone only explodes when it is moving for more than 8 seconds, it will not explode if the drone stops moving before the timer runs out

I have a theory. Maybe the eye is in danger maybe it is scared and is requesting help from us like you must help i question per week and when you touched the drone with your mini sub it exploded maybe thats a technique of defending it self and the monolith see how it duplicated maybe its trying to make a barrier surrounding itself so it can protect itself and when you hit it with your hammer it didnt explode it probably means it identified you as not a threat and didnt hurt you please identify if this theory is true..

I think your theory make sense and if it possible the eye probably noticed the satellite on sky and when this series starts the eye already know that a human is on the planet from start and the needs help so it possible that the aliens try to capture the eye and the meteor that looks like space ship was investigating the eye behaviour ( well it's not making any sense though)

Raft mechanic has a basic implementation of a "survival compatible lift" that works like this, you need to have the needed materials in your inventory to spawn a creation on the lift, hopefully chapter two will include something similar to this for survival that can also take materials from nearby chests, dont think it would be a nice feature if it would cannibalize nearby structures though :P
