The Alimak raise climber has been used for the pilot tunnel boring in the penstock tunnel (about 800 m in length, 9 m in diameter excavation, inclination of 48 degrees) of Mingtan Pump and storage hydropower plant project here in Taiwan since 1987. After that, we started to enlarge the tunnel by drill and blasting methood.
