Oh yes, the element of base-building in RTS games. I always played RTS games with my own, perhaps unorthodox, style. I never cared about meta or pro gameplay, I just used those games as sandbox or blank canvas. Whether it was in Warcraft, AoE, AoM, DoW or any other game, I deeply enjoyed base building - making your own corner of safety and comfort in untamed wilderness. Yeah, my gameplay resulted in being able to play only against easier AI, but I don't care. This was the way I enjoyed the game, and that's what matters. And now, you show me another new level with this diorama. Great work!

Oh hell yeah! I'm on the same side and can relate very much, love the visual aesthetic of my bases, even if it's not optimal for multiplayer. I even liked the simple base building in battle for middle earth and can't understand when a game gets rid of this element, like DoWII. Thank you very much bro! =)

Agreed, when DoWII was released and there was no base-building (asside from bare bones such as turrets and generators), I felt that this game lacked something essential, almost like being gutted. I play it occasionally, but I much rather return to games that have proper base-building to indulge in my favourite part of RTS games. Thank you very much and looking forward to more of your art.

As much as I want to see tree people, honestly this can either go in one of two directions...Either we follow the Campaign and you do Undead next, or you embrace that it has always been Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and venture into Horde Territory next. AMAZING work. As a WC3 and 40k fan, this hits all feels. To be "that guy": The human campaign is the first "campaign", but actually the first people you play are the orcs. Medivh persuades Thrall to go to Kalimdor... The end of the cinematic is "Seek me out". I CANNOT WAIT for a night elf one. That's got my vote. Subbed. For Kalimdor!

Wow! I'm soo glad I came across your video. I am literally in the planning stages for doing the exact same thing- except for WarCraft II. As a kid I was introduced to warcraft ii and I have fond memories of it. I had the inspiration to make a warcraft ii diorama simply out of my experience with 3D printing, tabletop miniatures, and that I was able to print out models from another classic game I enjoyed, Escape Velocity (1990s pc game) for use with tabletop game Billion Suns. The only issue I have is like you I cannot figure out blender. I typically use tinkercad for designing but it has massive limitations. I will take a crack at the software you're using.

Hey Phill! Your project sounds fascinating! Mind sharing more pieces of information about it? What Scenery/faction are you going to build? I grew up with WC3, Warcraft 2 was before my time, so I still need to play it :D As for software, I still think there is absolutely no way around blender, because of my profession I'm very familiar with CAD software like Catia, SolidWorks etc. so trying out Fusion wasn't something strange and felt very familiar. I have to say though, sculpting models with CAD is probably way harder than it would be with blender :D

Oh man, you have no idea how heartwarming and encouraging your comment is to me. I spend a year and a half to make videos with no prior experience at all. Every time I did something video game related, it performed poorly, though. Even my last two videos (Kirby, Donkey Kong) where I finally came to an editing style I really liked, didn't do well at all. Made me feel so miserable, questioning myself and my decision to even try to make KZbin content. This warcraft diorama was something like a last chance, a final try to make a video about something I really love at the best quality I could possibly do. And I was ready to see it fail. And now this, so many comments, video setting records on my channel and I can't wait to finish the next one. TLDR: Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Bro! Amazing work right there! I still can't get over the fact that Blizzard straight up removed all access to the original version of the game in favor of Reforged. Rockstar did the exact same thing with the GTA trilogy. EA did not - however - with Mass Effect - where you can play both the original and remastered edition. Same thing with HALO. Rant over! Don't let the originals die! They also miss out on a shitload of money - as people cannot legally buy these games - they turn to key-sellers or physical copies. When Rockstar pulled their stunt - the price for a single GTA: San Andreas key skyrocketed to 50-70USD - which remains the price as of me writing this comment. Just seeing the big box at the beginning brought back memories. Am I remembering right that there was a "chest" of some kind way back approx. 20 years ago that had the original game + the expansion? Regardless. The end result is gorgeous to look at - and has that cartoony feel and vibrant colors I remember. Man - the memories are pouring in now. Tower Defense maps - and my personal favorite: Battleships. Thanks a bunch for the trip down memory lane. WC3 still holds a very special place in my heart - as I never got into WoW - and I spent ages in that Editor which came included! Give Misha some cuddles from me, please.

I was sooo happy to still own my CD version of ROC and TFT, otherwise I would have some real problems recording the footage for the video :D It's infuriating to take away access to an old game like that. Should be illegal! I haven't heard about that Rockstar case you described, though. Need to look into that! Yeah I do think there was a chest, like the wow battle chest or something similar! I'm really happy you liked that box intro, I thought it would be a great way for an introduction, but my youtube analytics tell me that I lose almost 60% of my viewers after just 10 seconds xD SO maybe it wasn't such a good idea.
