The dramatic shift in play after the mid-game interval tells me this was strategic... Think about it, the faster they get to the mid-game interval, the longer the second half of the game is, WITHOUT coaching aid! If Lin Dan had played his real game before the interval, Danish coaches would be able to assist Viktor by reading his game, but Lin Dan gave them nothing. Suddenly after the interval his precision and control is turned on and he almost feels awakened in comparison.

Won't be long Axelson will be dethroned. Also, Axelson didn't dethrone LD, he took over from LCW when LCW had to retire due to cancer. Axelson didn't last long at No.1 either, he was replaced by Shu Yiqi and then Kento Momota who held the position for the next 2 years.

Viktor covers his court very well and his reflexes quite fast too; and he either has very good stamina or good way to conserve his energy. He can retrieves drops or any slow shots pretty easily. I think the only way to beat him is fast smashes or accurate aims at the side lines.
