Cute that you actually think that's why this is happening. It's Trump's *excuse* because saying the tariffs are due to a national security issue removes a bunch of political roadblocks and lets him impose them with an executive order. Just as with aluminum and steel last time. But it's not the *reason* and no matter what moves we make on those fronts, they won't be enough to satisfy Trump. Though if, down the road, the tariffs cause him enough political blowback domestically, he might point to anything we do on these fronts, declare them sufficient, and claim it as a "win" as his exit route.
