Before I tell you about my snek, one fix for my wording: when under a compulsion of Transgression, Minister loses dice *only* to rolls that are *not* related to pushing someone, or themselves, to break a Tenet/Conviction. Just so that’s clear! :) And about my Minister character, she was a DJ - not paying attention to any of that religious crap, her performances were her sermons, and the dancefloor was her congregation. She observed the dancing folk, playing with the music and lights to “free” them, to unchain them from their regular, stiff selves. She actually got fired after her first party in the campaign, where her bangers caused Tremere bartender to use Clinging the Insect ritual to climb on the wall and twerk from it. It was… a joyous night.

Jack Green In this sense, “corruption” means turning someone away from their “good” ideals. For example, a Setite might find someone who is very against premarital sex and then “corrupt” them by making them start to participate In premarital sex, or orgies, etc.

That reminds me of a certain character in my VtM chronicle who managed to be an open Follower of Set in a Camarilla splinter faction that believed in the Antediluvians and wanted to destroy them and was even allied with the Sabbat and lasted an entire year by telling people that "Set is just a metaphor for overcoming the shackles of mortality" and had people ACTUALLY buy that.

The Ministry's definitely in the running for biggest glow-up for V5. I remember reading through the V20 sourcebook and not being particularly interested in the Followers of Set, but the way that the Ministry is framed in V5 is fascinating and I could definitely see myself playing as one of them.

most of my experience with Vampire comes from playing the first Bloodlines game and a little bit from a Werewolf campaign i played in many years ago. i had never heard of the ministry clan, and from the description i was just given in this video i think they may be my favorite of all the clans.

I plan to play a Minister who in life was someone always deeply questioning the given conditions of modern society as de facto parts of the human condition. Someone who was always disparate from the great majority of what they saw as a defective civilization and found ways to avoid going to hierarchical school institutions/spent a great deal of time on 'the wired' to satiate their intellectual extroversion and commonly picking fights with what they deemed to be lies either to the self through dogmatism ( eg. vast swaths of religion) or to others as a means to an end ( eg. vast swaths of marketing/consumerism and social capital amassers). They also would have been someone already well outside societal norms as far as how they made income (i.e. drug trade, sex worker, etc.). I think in their embrace and the unlife after they would actually have gained a great deal of compassion for humanity and find much in line with The Ministry as far as breaking down something they see as fundamentally broken ( society as it stands) to be rebuilt into something that can look past the chains that it puts itself in. I would see them as delving further into the self perceived role of something akin to a Gnostic Mystic in spirituality. A minister who is utterly honest, knowing full well their intent for the world and a desire to see those individuals in it liberated from false chains, someone who most of all wants to see those they are close to be free from their own entrapment. The plan is a rather compassionate individual who holds something of a dark soul.

The Ministry are my favorite clan of V5 as well. Some of my other favorites include the Ravnos, Lasombra, the Old Tzimisce, the Salubri, Gargoyles, and my personal favorite, the Lhiannan. My first experience with table top VTM actually came in the form of VTR, I played a child vampire of the Lhiannan clan, eldest of my coterie, and led a coven of swamp witches and spriggans in our efforts to combat the spread of Christianity to eastern Europe.

@@erianle123547 Oh, ok I respect your opinion, I like the normal Tzimisce cuse I love Vicissitude so much, also love Dracula like vampires, dont like the trans gender lady Gaga kind of Tzimisce with a penis in his forehead just for the sake of being shocking and weird. In my opinion the perfect Tzimisce is a mix of Gangrel and Tremere (my second and third favorite clans) as in they are extremelly inteligent and polite, with an extremelly beautiful face, but all that hides a massive monster in the back, cuse chicks don't dig the giant fang style XD. My greatest problem with Old Clan is the fact they see Vicissitude as a disease, or an alien virus that sickens the brain. But I like Koldunism.

@@MrFantocan Yeah, I'm not so much a fan of Vicissitudes myself, Koldunism is much more fun in my opinion, but there is also a matter of the lore. Due to the lore around the Tzimisce, almost all Vicissitude users would be a maximum of around 300-500 years old during the modern nights due to the events of the first anarch revolt and the formation of the Sabbat. I prefer playing pre-1400's, so Old Clan makes more sense for me.

(my WoD games) Initially, I had ruled the Setites extinct following the events of Gehenna, in which Anubis Diablerized Set, and all of the reluctantly-Embraced 'Setites' who where captured enemies of the Setites in life (canonically there were 100s of them; 1,000s if the ST went that way), destroyed their 'masters' as Set's Final Death freed them from Blood Bonds & Setite Sorceries. The 'Mekhet' of VTR gave me pause to reconsider my decision, and ultimately, it was Satine Phoenix as Miranda, that led me to have the Setites return to my Worlds of Darkness, as the Mekhet and The Ministry Bloodlines (though both are outnumbered by the Serpents of the Light and the Followers of Isis...). They survived a Purge that was both more brutal and less chaotic than the madness that massively depleted the Ravnos. Then took a decade and a half before they revealed themselves...

When I've discovered BL2 was going to be based on v5, I really expected them to be playable on BL2, since now Anarchs are a possibility and the lore of the clan was heavily updated and refined... It is my favourite clan since 3rd edition, and I've never been a fan of using them as "evil snake cultist cannon fodder'. They are the most interesting clan out there and my major acomplishments were made by Setite characters. They are the clan that offer favours that can save your ass from the impossible, but it is only to capture you in their complex web of favours and debts.

My old V1 Follower or Set was an androgynous goth philosophy major named Natia. She embraced her roll as temptress even if she wasn't the most attractive person in the room. Was focusing on Serpentis. Didn't get much of a chance to play her as my group was falling apart by then. I mean golden eyes and the snake tongue thing? I love the Ministry so much. I have a tough time deciding who would be my embracing of the insidious nature of the vampire, Lasombra or the Ministry. I constantly go back and forth for them. Gangrel, Brujah and Banu Haqim are still my top three but I don't know which would explore my dark side more. The Ministry is so seductive, so alluring, I love them so much. I wholeheartedly believe the Banu Haqim are the one's who kept the Setites from joining the Camarilla. They are complete opposite of each other and there was no way that the Banu Haqim would tolerate the Ministers in the Camarilla. They are chaos...sorry, liberation, to Banu Haqim's lawful order.

Thanks for the interesting video about one of my favorite clans. You uncovered some interesting aspects that I had not thought of before. My idea for the character is slightly sterotypic, but this image is good in my opinion. Owner of a burlesque club in the city center. He always has a job for young girls who need money. His employees are not only a source of income for him, but also his eyes and ears, collecting any useful information, and clients can tell a lot, especially during a private meeting, especially if they are tipsy. And his clients are various, from criminal bosses to city officials. Little dirty secrets and useful data are valued very highly and he knows exactly how to use them to the maximum benefit for himself. But at the same time, he cannot be called an obviously bad person. He protects his workers as his children. And during communication, he creates the impression of an incredibly pleasant person. But you should never forget that in spite of this he remains cunning and treacherous.

And as I see it: presence is for Toreadors, and obfuscate will probably be for Nosferatu. In that case, I hope they change their approach on disciplines.

I had an idea for a different kind of minister, instead of the regular type of minister he would be descended from the warrior cast of the followers of set, having potence (or any other physical discipline) instead of obfuscate, he was initially embraced to act as bodyguard to other members of the clan who weren't martially inclined but found that he is also suited for the role the clan is known for as tempters, running an underground fight club for both humans and vampires where they can let loose and not feel restrained by the trappings of society. For the case other vampires it would also be a way to let loose and use abilities like potence and celerity in combat scenarios.

I've only played V5, and I just read about the Ministry a few days ago. The timing of this video is amazing. I've been interested in this clan since watching LA by Night. But even after reading the entire V5 entry, I still can't get a hold on what this clan is about. I can't think of any character concept that seems to fit these guys. Their identity seems kinda all over the place.

Ok, here's some basics: At it's core, The Ministry of Set and Church of Set, are separate organisations that specialize in breaking people spirit. Ministry would be that small-time drug dealer, who sell Mary Jane to bored dads, and before the dads know, they let that drug dealer use their garages to grow plants, they start to help, and they start to sell themselves. Church of Set is basically a cult, that lures you in with their promises of pleasures, things that were kept from you, like, maybe you have that really fucked up kink, they'll help you out, to see you become more and more depraved. None of them even has to embrace you, they are fine with herds of dependant mortals and ghouls, because that spreading corruption, is what makes them thrive.

Plus prior to V5 they were an extremely hierarchical Clan, and I expect most of the Elders would have some very sharp, pointed opinions for someone trying to entice members to break away from the clan's traditions and strictures.

I've always been torn between the Ministry and the Banu Haqim, they both represent really great concepts, and very different perspectives on handling Kine and Kindred. The Manipulative nature of the Setites is remarkable though and how they frame that it's to break mortals and vampires out of their reality prison, I'd like to think of a Setite as this seemingly benevolent individual who just wants people to know the truth, he pities them and doesn't look favorably upon what he does to liberate them, but it's all for their good, after all; Medicine tastes bad but it's good for the imbiber, yes? Which makes me wonder if we will see the Banu Haqim covered? I'd love to, as humbled as they have been by recent events.

I think that the elderly Mrs. Floptober could be the nicest Minister. She owns a small Sweet shop, always polite and neat. She just radiates care and attention, like the kindest grandmother in the world. And who will contradict the advice of big-and-soft-cloud-person as Mrs. Floptober? She believes in sincere virtue and taught it to everyone. Her motto was: "the more good and happiness you bring to the world, the warmer and calmer life will be." Even when her life was trying to break(the death of her son and husband at 09: 11, fights with creditors and the mafia over the lease of a store, fighting with hemophilia) she always found a positive and peaceful way out. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren adore her, as do neighbors and visitors to her sweet spot. Probably one of the Regular visitors found out about a serious illness and just could not help this kind soul.And now, she is happy to help all people and kindreds to make this dark world more friendly for everyone.

Just to reconnect with the video and the topic...an Indiana Jones themed Egyptologist who also teaches at the university (and of course doing some errands in the black market with recently recovered relics) could be also a good concept. After the embrace his\her classes will be kept late, as if in night schools, and students are also good candidates for liberation 😊.

Ministry vampires I imagine would make great Harpies. The charisma they have and the resources the clan has access to are excellent for setting trends and manipulating the culture around them. However they probably need to be posing as vampires of different clans to be effective.

My idea for a minister would be a hotel owner sort of a poe from altered carbon feel He runs and maintains this hotel like establishment while using it as a easy safe spot for any anarch looking for a safe place to stay. I just got this hotel California thought process (you can check out anytime but you never really leave).

Question about their bane: Is that ALL lights (like walking into any room with a single light bulb) or is it especially bright lights like spotlights, stage lights, strobes, search lights, head lights on cars etc.? The reason I ask is the wording used in the book that specifically says "direct" light. Thank you!

It appears as a corrupted form of Protean, just like Serpentis could. Dementation and the Malkavian network is actually Malkav, who wanted all knowledge but couldn't handle it after diablerizing Enoch. At least not on his own. But this merged being now living in all Malkavians and whoever has Dementation can. Obtenebration might actually be another, either a being close to the (unseelie) fae or something dark from the abyss. Fun to keep that mysterious. I'd like each to be a rival of actual daemons and enemies of the Baali and practitioners of Dark Thaumaturgy. In an older edition there was mention of a Settite - Baali war in ancient times, didn't make much sense back then. The Nosferatu curse gives them immunity to Vicissitude, either by some magic, their nature of being descended and resisting or maybe Baba Yaga ascending (despite being 4th gen). I like the idea of her being something different. Maybe a dark version of Golgonda giving her blood sorcery a hint of true magic. She might be the oldest witch alive after all. I wonder how she, Ur-Shulgi, old Ministry and some upstart young Hecate and Tremere (Goratrix?) view each other. Rivals but enemies of enemies? All have something dark but might fight something even darker...

I can't help but notice the Bloodlines 2 background. Is that an official screenshot? Can we normal people download it from somewhere? Just asking for PC wallpaper purposes. Totally not asking for a Bloodlines 2 release date or a spoiler from the game. ;) I think you'll either release it early summer like june or after Cyberpunk 2077, so october or november of 2020.
