Ooh new miniware products to play with! I can't resist toys like these to add to my collection, i already have the oscilloscope ds213 and soldering iron ts80 and screwdriver es121. I got to admit their products are very appealing and compact... but need to consider is it really practical for my needs when I can just use a normal 'boring' bench power supply. The oscilloscope and soldering iron were very practical and superb to use, but the screwdriver really was a gimmick for me i could not justify spending that much money for. These are boys toys that we cannot live without ;) lol! Again great and concise review, I like your style of thorough explanation!

I have es120 and ts100. Im planning to buy this power supply and the ds213 oscilloscope. I dont really need any of these, but these are so well made that i just want to play with them :D.

Yes, it is on aliexpress.com when you search for "MDP-P905". The cheapest one I saw for $125

Im not sure Im understanding this exactly but my graph only shows 30V and 5A no matter what I have the output set to so powering a low current device doesnt really graph anything because the range is so large. Does anyone know what Im doing wrong?
@alejandroalonsopuig
@alejandroalonsopuig 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in my case is the same. The graph has fixed Y axis (at least in my firmware version), so for me is not so useful for graphical current measurement. In fact I use the unit without the screen as it is not needed for the power functionality and thus I have a poquet size quite nice power supply.

Is there any way to power off the system? I mean, without removing the power cable.
@alejandroalonsopuig
@alejandroalonsopuig 3 жыл бұрын
You could stop the output, but the unit will still be on (although without any power output).

Where are you connecting that USB-C cable? My USB-C wall plug does not cooperate with my MDP-P905 and I have to use the barrel jack instead :/

In my case it works well. I used a Samsung usb-c unit from my mobile phone. Contact the distributor. They may tell you more. Good luck

@@alejandroalonsopuig Can you mention the model? I would like to look up the specs for yours and see if I can find a matching one.

@@brainkod I tested it today and it works well with any phone charger, even low current ones with no problem. I mean the unit switch could switch on. Obviosly if the charger gives you low current, the unit will give only low current to any load, but it works

@@alejandroalonsopuig Right, the reason why I asked for more specific specs is because my MacBook 13" 2018, 29W USB-C charger does not cut it. The unit does not even power up when I connect it whereas the barrel jack at 12V works fine (as in just powering up the MDP).

@@brainkod It is weird. I have the same Macbook pro. I have just now tested connecting the unit to one usb port, then pushed RUN/LOCK in the unit and it switch on perfectly. I am sorry to hear that the USB port doesn't work in your unit, because I think this is so convenient to have such small unit powered by usb for low current applications on the go. For example I can get a 24v source for PLCs or other devices just from a USB 5v port. I only use the barrell option for more current demanding applications.

It's a nice toy to have, but all I see is a little paperweight. For the €229,95 or $199 price tag, I think we can just buy a normal lab bench power supply.

@@alejandroalonsopuig Would it still be adjustable to 30V with a 5-volt source that is not QC3? i have only seen people use QC3 stuff. The spec on the website does not tell me whether or not I can get 30v out with 12 volts in.

@@Ender_Wiggin Yes, you can. In fact this is something I also questioned and tested. I got 30v from 5v input, but obviously the current you could get is much lower than the one your power source supply
