Hey y'all, great tutorial, but ya left off something about the fly rule that might be worth adding into the next one. The specifics of the fly rule are that you "treat models and terrain as if they were not there when measuring for movement" and further that you "never measure vertically" for a fly move. This means that not only can models with fly pass over other models and terrain without the extra movement tax, but that they can also get on top of terrain with ease that non flying models would need to spend a good amount of movement to scale. IE, if a model is 3" from a 5" tall piece of terrain, the model would need to spend 3"to get next to it, than at least 5" to get up it, while a model with fly would only need to spend 3" to get up it(4"+ to specially get onto a snug spot where the base fits depending on the model) The reason I bring this up is as you'll probably remember when 40k 8th first dropped the rules were very nonspecific about this, and I remember that causing a good number of arguements in my group aboutt how to treat climbing/jumping/flying up ruins and the such, so it might be a good thing to clarify for new players.

You know the pivit rule makes a lot of sense. My groups super casual so we often times just eyeball it. but I can see, especially in tournaments, some folks trying to use this as a way to gain unfair advantages.

I would think that even if forward movement was hindered, lateral movement would be perfectly legal, so long as coherency was maintained, and you remained 3" from all enemy units.

In the picture of core rules movement the horizontal movement of base over the fence is not calculated. It counts only inches in ground and vertical up+down. Your version makes more sence but could tell where you got the information?

When one group of models have to go around another group of friendly models, how can it be measured with a straight ruler? Looks like you need a bendy ruler or some measuring string.

How does movement work when you have rock faces/ledges etc. If hills don't constitute as a terrain feature if your model/unit is on a hill with a 3in rock cliff on one side do you still need to add that 3in to the movement of a model going across it? Also if all your model/units are on lets say a 5in tall rock cliff do they get the cover bonus? I'd really appreciate the tips as I cant find great answers. Also how does scatter pieces effect movement; do you still need to climb on top the scatter and etc for each layer on that scatter?? Just a bit confused thanks

If its ur turn and your units are stuck in combat is it possible to run away or retreat?

Yes, you can retreat and / or run, but you then cannot later shoot or charge in the same turn.

No, you must charge in order to move within 3" of an enemy unit.
