Let’s be honest Joe, besides “fits into small places”, Boss gets all 10’s. He was truly a perfect fit for his role: his speed was so elite that he could use his intelligence to pick which rats to chase and which rats to leave to the smaller dogs. Plus his drive was unmatched, I mean I haven’t seen any other dog chain kills like he did. He LOVED his job and he was damn good at it.

Even if he didn't fit he'd try and make himself fit such was the prey drive of Boss man. I hope Joe take comfort in being able to look back at these videos and seeing the good work he's done in raising the dogs and minks over the years.

Greetings from Finland. It was fun and interesting to watch Boss work on these videos for all the years. Best way I can describe him would be a professional as he seemed to do exactly what he should have and also it looked like he was getting better and learning too instead of just doing the one and same thing over and over.

Nice to see some older footage with ratting partners we remember from years ago. Boss was a champion from his early years. Neela did well - seeing her waiting for rats to be flushed out, I could almost hear you saying "Watch! Watch" the way you do with your dogs now. Thanks for posting, Joe!

I know this was an older video but I'm missing Boss from the team. I know deep down you miss him too but you got Bindi Leya and Gypsy and the up-and-coming young Tag. I really hope the badger deal will come true and then you will have a team that you go on a farm let your animals loose and just watch your bucket fill up and all you have to do is count the dead rats. Nice to see an old Boss video. Boss indeed was a BOSS, total alpha critter keeper. The last few Boss vids, I nearly asked if there was something wrong with him. He seemd lethargic and not too motivated, although he still had his moments of high energy. Because nothing was said, I figured he was just sick, tired, maybe even just getting a little old for that high exertion activity. Sad to see Boss go too soon, I'm sure least for me than Joe, his family and friends.

LOVE seeing older footage like this, especially seeing Boss as little more then a puppy but already with the brains and drive that would make him top dog for the rest of his days as he developed the wisdom he became famous for, of knowing just where the rats would go when flushed making him the true last line of defense that VERY few rats would get by. I never met him but I still miss him like a friend. RIP.

Been watching with some interest as where we are in Scotland we are surrounded by farms and farmland. We see quite a few rats while out with our dogs. Sadly rhe type of dogs that prefer rats of the human kind to chase. I often wonder if there are any diseases that can be picked up from rats these days. Growing up I'd always loved the stoat after seeing the odd one out and about, had done a school project on them as a kid. Been interested in the species and wider family ever since. Something oddly fascinating watching the dogs and others working

Hey there, you commented on the terrier not being able to catch the rat so well that's why you use lurchers. For one you're using the wrong type of terrier, you'd be better off with something a bit leggy, like a patterdale terrier. That terrier you have there seems a bit sluggish due to short legs. I find that terriers are better than lurchers for ratting, especially around farms where the terrier can get where the lurcher can't, either way great video

Joe when you decide to get you a Terrier I highly reconmend a real Rat Terrier I had them and they are away faster then you think small bodied longer legged then most terriers I lost my last Rat Terrier at the old age of 22 I just rescued a Chi / Rat terrier I will be teaching him to rat and mouse I hate to put out poison
