I'd lived in Alaska for 16 years and had always look forward to halibut fishing every year.. loved every moment of it. My friends and families would go there camped out the weekend.. get wasted and catch lots of halibut!!

Enjoyed watching you guys catching halibut. I live down here in Southern California and we catch a smaller version of the Pacific Halibut which is called the California Halibut. The legal size limit here is 22” and let me tell you it is difficult to catch one this size depending upon where you fish. Coastal shore fishing normally produces smaller fish and the larger fish are usually caught on boats. I prefer surf and jetty fishing for halibut so it’s difficult to catch a legal. When we do, it’s very exciting to catch and cook these delicious fish!!! I absolutely love the taste of halibut, it’s one of my favorite!!! After watching you guys catching those Pacific Halibut from shore, I’m inspired to go to Alaska with my family to fish. Thanks for the great vid!!!

Yall gotta try my recipe. Cut into chunks. Panko them shallow fry. Make a sauce. Soy sauce , sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika. Two slices of smashed ginger. Cook it down to dissolve sugar. Add alittle corn starch to thicken. Salt halibut at the end lightly. And sauce it up. Then enjoy. Hope yall try it.

They brought in the record sized halibut for the company i worked for and it was so big it overflowed the tote they put them in. The average sized halibut from that boat was over 100 pounds. They long lined them. After they fill up the hold they will call up different plants to find out which one had the highest price. This load was from the Bering Straits and we were in Yakutat which in the south

And they didn't have cell phones back then so they had to call in by radio. If I called my parents in Wisconsin we used a CB radio and it was somehow linked into a phone. Two people couldn't talk at one time because you had to hold the button on the CB to talk.

A DJI Phantom 3 or 4 Pro is a good choice. Good lift and range for drone fishing and as they're a bit older now they're much cheaper than they used to be. Swellpro also make dedicated fishing drones that are waterproof and can self-right if they land in the water.

I've not done it from shore, but I've caught many. I have a joke for you and then a suggestion. All halibut are born males "they are hermafradites" when they get to about 3years of age or 50 to 70 lbs they turn to female. At that point they still call the halibut and not Katlin.😱😆. I fished on tv for about 10 years and I have an unbelievable idea for the you to get more and bigger ones from shore, drop me a line as I'm down in Ketchikan. GREAT JOB!
