The Chicago hub program recently got corridor ID program funding so hope is on the horizon plus most of the routes from Chicago are upgrading to 110 mph speeds. Right now the high speed projects in focus in the US are : California hsr, Brightline west and Texas central. Once those are complete other federal funds will be allocated to the Chicago hub which is certainly on the list.

Amtrak at times in the past has offered round trip to Duluth. I used it once in the 80's.

Passenger rail nationwide is beneficial and I am excited to see Duluth benefitting from the potential expansions. really will open up alot of possibilities. excited to see more Infrastructure improvements and the US heading in the right direction!

Why? Same line the north star line uses. All of those station parking lots remain empty. No one rides it. Those are down to 4 trips a day. Why build new stations when we have existing stations no one uses? Who's going to protecting our vehicles from theft while we are in Duluth? What do you drive when you are up there? We still have a homeless problem that needs attention. Pissing our money away!

the low-ridership stations usually benefit rural areas that dont normally get much state funding. i assume the idea with the duluth option is there would be much more demand for it because theres a lot more people and more to do there.

@@user-md3wm7vu1f I think more people will be coming from Duluth to minneapolis then people from minneapolis going to Duluth. 86,000 people live in Duluth. We are spending a hundred million dollars.

This is going to be as big a bust as all the other light rail trains in MN. No one but criminals ride them so they can rob anyone that might make that mistake.

This line has no ongoing revenue. It will be is yet another government knows best boondoggle. If this was a money maker the Casino should subsidize it.

Its hard to ride the train if it doesn't exist... I'd get rid of my car in a heartbeat if we had good enough public transit. Cars are so stupidly expensive for something that spends most of its time sitting around doing nothing. Wouldn't it be great to not have a car payment and/or insurance payment every month? That's like an extra 500 bucks a month for a lot of people.
