The missed fourth down spot that let the Packers have that final touchdown drive was utter nonsense too. Couldn't challenge it though because even though we'd won all three challenges before then, going 3-0 doesn't allow you another challenge. We'd have won the fourth challenge if we'd had it.
@christianaugustine9490Ай бұрын
How can anyone be upset with this team?? We just beat 3 “Super Bowl favorites” back-to-back-to-back. Who cares if it got ugly?? The packers are a great team and this miscues and leaky defense is nothing we can’t clean up for next week
@danaglabeman6919Ай бұрын
@@christianaugustine9490 Totally agree. The Pack are a good team, and if you go back and really look at the game, this whole idea we "slowed down" or "suddenly played conservatively" is nonsense. Pack made some adjustments to calling both sides of the ball that worked well. I'm not upset about the lack of momentum/pressure in the 2nd half: go back to the tape, figure out what they did, prepare for it so you have an idea how to overcome for when another team figures it out. Same typical M-F prep. What I'm concerned about addressing are the actual mistakes. Why was no one extremely clear with Nailor he was a ST placeholder for one punt and was NOT to touch that ball? What happened with the O-line a/o Darnold that Nixon was totally unseen/touched on that strip sack? We can all moan over that interception that wasn't really, but the uncomfortable truth is, it only wasn't because of lack of total ball control on the way down. For all practical purposes, Darnold threw an interception. Saying, "It's ok, the Pack are good, we knew it was gonna be ugly" is fine in regards to the Pack winning the O/D matchup in the 2nd half, but self-inflicted mistakes are more concerning to me. Lol probably bc it's the Vikes and we can shoot ourselves in the foot better than anyone.

Tense, but I'm less worried than many others. Two of the Packers' TD drives were a combined 23 yards, and the last one was against a tired defense playing prevent. The Packers got some breaks that made it closer than it should have been. Now the Vikings will either be two games up on the entire division, or the lone NFC unbeaten, depending on the outcome of Lions-Seahawks.
@danaglabeman6919Ай бұрын
While normally it's super fun to be the only unbeaten, with how the Lions came alive last year and are now playing with the chip on their shoulder, I think a Lions loss is much more valuble for us than the meaningless token of last nfc team standing. Last time we were the last unbeaten team, it ended ugly.

Flores' defensive strategy relies to some extent on the D-line selling their disguises. He has a unique ability to teach these guys how to play multiple positions and then trusts them to make on field decisions about how and when to switch gears. Look at the footage at how many time a defender crossed the whole damn field to make a play outside of his position. I think there were two big defensive problems in that 2nd half. One, we we 3&outing a lot, which put undue physical pressure on the D to perform without much of a rest inbetween. But mainly, the Pack offense figured out how to prevent/ read the defense disguises, which is gonna hamper Flores' style of play-calling. Whether it was getting to the line asap or something else we haven't seen yet, other teams are gonna want to study exactly how the Pack managed to uncover our D.

There is no need, based on what he's shown, to keep saying that Darnold will make 2 or 3 boneheaded plays a game. Every QB makes that many. Nothing in these four games suggests Darnold is still overly prone to those plays.
@oel734Ай бұрын
Plus that INT (that shouldn't have been) was him trying to get Aaron Jones his Lambeau leap moment so he kind of forced it there. The other one where he got blindsided from behind? I'm placing blame on Bradbury not letting Sam know (or reminding him) that there's a free man going to come unblocked from blindside pre-snap. Sure Sam could've thrown the ball sooner to the flat but I think he was unaware of the man coming at him.

For all the "Should have kicked the FG at 4th and 1" criticism, 3 more points puts the win by 5, which is still less than 1 score. A first down likely leads to an AJ TD and we win by 8 before adding the try. This means we win by 9 or 10 most likely and that's more than 1 score.

Weak spots revealed themselves on both sides of the ball: On defense, a solid O Line and an up-tempo offense with quick routes and accurate passing can deny B-Flo's stunting D time to get to disrupt plays. Same with up-tempo tough running. On Offense, looks like pressure does affect Sam Darnold, if you can get him to feel it. Vikings should go up-tempo themselves to counter opponents doing it.
