No team, that's even remotely competent, trades the best player in the league (in their prime) at an extremely important position unless said player is a cancer. Jefferson is anything but a cancer, and he'll be 25 this coming season. Trading that type of proven asset for draft picks is not the way it's done. Is Nabors going to be a great player, a good player...I don't know. Justin Jefferson is going to have a bust in Canton, and his best years may lie ahead. I try to give Florio the benefit of the doubt. Like, I'm 36 and the Vikings have never played in a super bowl in my life time. I listen because I like the level of detail and I also like that he talks about some things that others don't. But I don't have to agree with him about everything nor do I expect to. With a new QB in the house, a couple good receivers to help a rookie grow/develop is the common theory going around the league. Paying a high performer also is good for team and fan moral. You always only view the contract negotiation from the team perspective and blame them for not locking players up early, but ignore the fact that they can't force the player to sign. If it's only going to get more expensive to sign an elite player, then what incentive does that player have to sign early? From their perspective, they play one more year and then get more money by simply waiting. Unless the team offers some insane contract that the player can't refuse, but then the team isn't saving any money by locking them up early.
