I gotta say, you guys are nuts, and haven't played the PS4 version recently enough. The frame rate alone was a huge upgrade. BUT, I noticed and thanked the gods throughout the whole thing that there wasn't a single time you had to go slowly through an area or squeeze by walls so the game could load. It absolutely benefitted from being on ps5 and I'm glad the next installment will be, too. Love the episode still, and deepest dive in general. More Ronnie content on minnmax or we riot.

Listening to this podcast after playing ff7 rebirth. And hearing everyone’s doubts about the 2nd installment having an open world was just blown out of the water. I don’t think anyone was expecting just how immense and amazing the 2nd installment was going to be. Definitely one of the best games that I have ever played for sure!

I always wondered where Roche went after Ch. 4... I love how he's desperately searching for his new "friend" Cloud, staking out the slums. 🤣 Most remarkable about FF7R is how it turned potentially EXTREMELY annoying characters (including Yuffie) into endearing and hilarious comic relief. They only seem to annoy other characters around them, playing off all the "strait men". SO well done!

RE: Intermission only being available on PS5: I'm pretty sure there were no parts where you had to sidle through a tight space, which in the original as in many PS4 games they would use to hide loads. So my guess is the PS5's SSD eliminates the need for those. I also feel like Yuffie's face looks better than everyone else.
@TheArchitect0973 жыл бұрын
I was waiting for those ultra annoying parts, very aware the whole time. Those were the main things I hoped were gone, and we are blessed that they are nowhere to be found here. With the frame rate and better textures, this dlc and future installments are definitely hugely benefitted by ps5. Totally necessary to leave the PS4 behind.

If you're feeling that they are down on it at times in the midst of the show, I would say they are pretty positive on it by the end! Personally while I haven't quite finished it I have found it made me like Yuffie for the first time, reinforced that 95% of the time this team nails it on all fronts, and I'm once again looking forward to part 2.

The Wutai deity is referenced in the Dachao bean. Da Chao is the name of the Wutai god. So the part where Yuffie says 'he works in mysterious ways' is a reference to how the Wutaians believe in a deity, and that deity is most likely Da Chao. Also per your comment about Wuta and AVALANCHE's relationship, you'll find your answer if you watch Before Crisis.

Regarding the openness of Part 2 - @minnmax “I understand that there are lots of fans out there who want to see a world map, and we want to challenge ourselves to leverage the breadth of the world in the next game of the overall project, so you can expect great things to come,” Hamaguchi-san explains. Definitely seems like the next game will be attempting to capture the feel of the original game. Maybe big zones? who knows. Definitely not like part 1 though. I think the cutscene at the end isn't really showcasing how progression will work, rather a way to start the next game already in Kalm and in the nibelheim flashback as a cold open.

All the folks talking about Yuffie's pants... have you not played the OG before? btw it was the style (80s or 90's) for teens back in the day; it was meant to make you look cool, which fits Yuffie's attitude of trying to be in the sexy fad but no realizing how ridiculous it is. Also a note on her clumsiness yes she was clumsy before Remake, but you'd only know this from Dirge of Cerberus. Her falling off the ledge after removing her cloak was a huge reference to Dirge for example. Great pod, all! Would be cool to see you guys collab with Sleepezi and Schrodenger's babyseal as they are also very much into theory crafting.

Conveyor belt boxes was most likely a loading screen, not padding. That's much more preferable than constant slow walk through tight space, on balance beam, escorted by thugs, etc. The conveyor belt moved at a pace that seemed normal game speed and so his the loading better.

39:19 kinda worried about the same thing here. loved FF7, didn't enjoy the extended universe. FF7R kind of bring a little hope for me because it has the general mood and feel of the original FF7. i don't mind changing the story, but if it's going to lose more of the original feel and take more cheesiness storytelling style from the extended universe, it might be too hard to stomach.
@dandon19683 жыл бұрын

@@MiguelAldanotes it's indeed a good game. but i'm sure there are games in your favorite genre with superb production quality that just doesn't hold your interest just because it doesn't suit your preferences. it's just like that for me with their apparent new vision. and if i may rant some more, i don't like that there're more "super-soldier" character in the game, it kinda undermine the singular menacing quality of sephiroth.

They really should have released it on PS4..if the FF7 Remake part 1 can run on PS4 then why can't the DLC? I get it they want to incentivize people to get the PS5 but when there is a huge shortage because of Scalpers and so on..not everyone will be able to get a PS5 yet. Seriously though... a huge missed opportunity for them to release the DLC on PS4 and Pro. Again I get it..but at the same time, it would have been better for them to release it on the last Gen consoles.
@Phantomyre3 жыл бұрын
Let's not kid ourselves. Dirge elements are going to be in Remake as well. Just because Dirge was badly written, doesn't mean it's not canon. I think the current team is well equipped to handle even the worst elements and make them better. Technically we already met Azul in his beast form (referenced) as Type 0. We also came into Deepground in part 1. So don't hope too hard because you might be sorely disappointed. Have a little faith in the devs, people.
@FVD2 жыл бұрын
Also, Nojima wasn't the writer of that game either so him using elements from that game will be a big improvement - which also has me wondering if Dirge in Ever Crisis will be improved too somewhat...

Kyle was annoying here. His opinions may be one thing, but I can live witha difference of opinion. What continually irks me is his attitude. He treats the FFVII world with very little serious weight, yet at the same time asks serious questions and complains about a lack of understanding. Failing to finish the original game is part of it, because he's missing some context sure. However, *avoiding* things within this game and the DLC *on* *purpose* is just nonsensical if you're going to then have issues with clarity. How can Kyle be expected to have a thorough conversation about the topic when 1. he hasn't fully invested in it (to the point where he completely misses plot and characters) and 2. he's inconsistent in his own interest ?? How can someone both want to learn about a thing, and yet dismiss that thing? I don't understand, nor do I gain much from his commentary.

I really didn't care about Fort Condor at all. I played the Tutorial and was like "uh, please dont force me to play this", so I skipped this whole sidequest. And honestly, I would prefer them focusing on the main game for Remake 2, instead of "wasting" time creating more Fort Condor.

Y’all really spent a good amount of time trying to say Yuffie is sexualized, jesus. She’s a 16 year old girl, they dress weird and do weird shit, and the pants unbuttoned is a fashion statement with low rise pants and shorts, Bella Hadid has famously done it a lot in 2018-19, Kendall Jenner has done it in the same time span, and it was actually a short lived end of the 90’s fashion choice, near Y2K. She’s a teenage girl, they follow trends, they idolize things they think are cool, fashion is a big part of that. It’s a way of making her feel like a modern teenage girl while still keeping her base 90’s personality intact. Y’all are creepy for trying to say it’s sexualized, because it’s only sexualizing if you yourself think about it that way, which y’all are from your talks about it. They did a hell of a lot to keep Tifa from being overly sexualized but keeping her within a more modern approach to a woman of her age fashion wise, they did the same with Yuffie. It’s like you just wanna find things to complain about lol
@gerrya21332 жыл бұрын
I don't think your "sexy supermodels have done it in the past so it's okay" works in your argument the way you think it does. Why do you think they did it? Fashion and sex appeal have a lot of overlap. Pretending that it doesn't have any bearing at all is the creepy way to look at it. Exposed midriffs are the same. They are meant to have some appeal. I just don't think it crossed any lines of going too far.
