Based on their personal top 10s, I have calculated sums of absolute differences between positions on their list and the Two Tens (e.g. Jeff's no. 1 pick is UFO 50 and it is no. 4 on The Two Tens so the absolute difference is 3, if their game was not on the list the assumption is that it was no. 21 on The Two Tens). The new layout is aesthetically very nice, but I feel like it gives up a LOT of functionality. I really appreciate podcasts that make it easy for me to look up more about hosts. So I really liked that every hosts name, and the best place to follow them was always on screen at all times in the old layout. This is super useful for new viewers to learn people's names, which can be especially relevant when clips are broken off from content. The video description seem to always do a great job of crediting people by name when they appear in the show. But especially when people are clapping in and out of the Minnmax Show, that might not be enough for folks to easily put a name to a face.

Jacob's COD rant is so on point. I played nothing but stakeout moshpit, shooting the shotgun around corners before even checking there were opponents, sometimes with a 4x K/D. There is no skill or strategy, but it just feels so fun.

For 1000xRESIST. I'd love a spoiler cast PLAYTHROUGH of the game. Its so dense and I feel like so much went over my head. I'd love to see a couple of you guys play through and give full spoilers live commentary. I feel like a regular spoiler cast wouldn't do it justice, but with a playthrough you can be reminded of all the things you loved about the game as you play through it, and talk about how certain things unfold and how certain characters develop, etc.

The only way I can make sense of Jacob Gellar’s comment at about the one hour mark, is by looking at my feelings on Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. I think Tears is objectively better in a lot of ways - it fixes almost all the critiques of BotW I had. BUT Breath of the Wild is tied with Ocarina for my favorite game of all time. Maybe that’s just because it was the first time having that experience… Maybe it’s the atmosphere of BotW… I can’t really make sense of it.

Agreed. Tears of the Kingdom ran where Breath of the Wild walked, but you want to be there for your child's first steps more than you want to see the first time they break into a sprint. Breath of the Wild might not be the better game, but I'll always love it more.

I put 904 hours into Call of Duty in 2023 and I only played DMZ mode. It was amazing! But today it's not the same, you can barely do missions because they stopped adding new content and people are bored and just hunt each other down. It was a PvPvE game mode, now it's just a slaughterhouse. But I loved it in 2023. I've never played a CoD before or since but 2023 was the year of DMZ. Jacob would die of boredom because the time to kill is pretty high, it's either they kill you in the first 3 minutes or 20+ minutes, sometimes you can fight for the final exfil helicopter. It was so great, too bad they decided to let it die and didn't put any extra content after the halloween season of 2023.

My favorite games i played in 2024 were Overwatch and Diablo 4 with my lady. Played hundreds and hundreds of hours of both of those and still play them both regularly, and blow any other game ive played last year out of the water tbh, new or old.

Either those Triangle Strategy sprites just always face the camera on rotate to do so ("billboarding") or what i imagine is the case with an Ogre Battle type game anyway they did draw every sprite in 8 directions (front/back/sides & diagonals) that it changes between depending on your viewing angle

As for "songs that transcended the game they are from", I think you have to give some credit to Pop/Stars by KDA. It might be cheating (it's a promotional song rather than for LoL specifically), but it's hard to argue against 621 Million views on KZbin and being Certified Platinum.

This is a great show. I appreciate Minnmax a lot. Allow me to give feedback. I do think that the objectivity comments may be a sign that some of the cohorts are missing the point. The Rebirth uproar in the previous discussion wasn’t really angry about its placement or people like other stuff over it or even not liking it (maybe it was for some, but those were a minority). It was the snark against Rebirth, the unreasonableness, and dare I say “hate” of a couple of cohorts that wasn’t thoughtfully argued. That’s fine of course, and you have every right to those intense opinions. However, that is precisely why people decided to voice their opinions against that attitude in the comments section. Rebirth objectively is a labor of love, an enormous achievement in AAA standards, and I’m grateful some thing like this can be made in 2025 and it be a remake of my favorite game of all time. You can still dislike it, but When people don’t acknowledge some of that, and instead just snark at it, it makes people want to voice their disagreement. In that way, some of you shared your opinions, and some responded with their own. I do think tons of Rebirth fans went too far, but I dare say that the original discussion by some of the cohorts did poison the well with their attitudes. In the future, share why you dislike or even hate something that may be beloved to others, without the snark and the smugness and we’ll all have a better time I think. If you want that notoriety, then keep doing it, but my sense is this channel is above that.

Although I am finding comments asserting that Minnmax's criticisms of the game were "snarky" or "unsubstantiated" seem a little bad faith, as they layed out their reasoning pretty exhaustively after playing a substantial amount of the game imo. This ferver is kinda nuts and I've got to imagine it's a bummer for the Minnmax staff, Rebirth defenders included. We're just talking about video games here fam!

" the people who think it's amazing are only saying so because of nostalgia for FF7." This type of sentiment gets implied a lot. I think taking away people's love of something just because it doesn't work for you is the most insulting thing of all. I got those vibes early on from a lot of the people who don't like it, whether it be minnmax or other places. It can be frustrating because sometimes an approach to a classic game doesn't work for everyone, maybe they didn't like the ending and that influenced their thoughts on the whole game, maybe they are the type of player that feels pressured to do all the side material and that doesn't allow them to get a sense of the main story due to pacing.... But to me those are personal problems. Not an issue with the game itself or its quality. When you see people go..." REBIRTH 'S 90+ score is underserved".... That can be insulting too. Who gets to decide what is deserved or not? Maybe some people at minnmax or other outlets that didn't gel with the title prefer Remake's more linear structure. Maybe some people prefer the openness and excitement of choosing how they want to explore this world. I guess my point is, it's not that criticizing the game is an inherent problem, it's how people have regarding this game. It's such an important title to so many people and some criticisms for it come off as a bit exaggerated.
