my first camera was a minolta x700 from my great grandmother about 13-16 years ago when i was 8-11. it was what got me into photography. fast forward years later and i find it goin through my stuff and nex thing i know ive found mint condition srt mc-II and a niche lil 45mm rokkor 1:2 with a minolta 200x flash too. Havent touched digital in months and i just love minoltas glass and bodys so much. this srt is a TANK and the x700 has been too. anyway thank you so much for the video , i feel like it really connected me to this company my grandmother had so much adoration for. she owned so many , i wish i knew which ones i missed out on lol.

Excellent history. My first camera was the X700, bought new for Christmas from my parents when I was around 13. Started a lifelong hobby, and affection for Minolta cameras.

Thank you for this. My first camera was an XG-1 and I used many XD-11s over the years. What a fantastic camera that was/is! It's sad that Minolta did not transition well into the digital age. If ever a company made my life richer it was Minolta. It fueled a passion in me at a very young age.

Well minoltas legacy is in some way continued with sony :) minoltas first digital full frame was the minolta 7D and 5D under konica and sony bought the company soon after keeping the minolta A mount until the mirrorless age :) (i dont know now if sony still makes new A mount lenses)

I have the Autocord TLR, SR7, SRT100X, XE, XD7, XD5 (plastic body), X300, X700, AF-C, 35DL, Dynax 7000, Dynax 7Xi, Dynax 5 and lots of lenses for then among many other different brand cameras... Keep up the videos!

That XD-7 was really a pinnacle of era, both automatics and furthermore some overriding of users (wrong) choises was great idea. The dark variant was just beautiful as it was not painted but perhaps anodized? And it still had the glorius Minolta logo with stylish minolta font. Just exellent camera, and as beautiful as Olympus OM-1.
@grainificent

i would say its more beautiful than an olympus 0m-1 ;P but they are all beautiful cameras :) i need to get an olympus OM-1 one day to make videos about it as well :)

@@grainificent Yes, OM-1 was kind of beta1, as the real one was OM-2, OM-1 Was the style-girl, but for example the cameras biggest and best roll is....for asa! ;-) -had to admit, that is nowaadays stiill relevant critic, as that is many times modern cameras for changing mode...what I do perhaps once a year ;-D

Great video. My first SLR was the Minolta X300 and then onto the X700. I finally bought a mint Minolta XD7 and a silver version. The shutter sound on this model is so nice. I was disappointed by the X700 and had 3 of them 2 of which died with what seems to be a design fault with the winder system. I hope my XD7 cameras don't suffer the same fate, but as it was designed and built jointly with Leica and with a more metal construction I hope they won't suffer the same fate. After I write this I will go on my walk in the Autumn colours with my trusty Minolta XD7 for some great photos and to feel and hear that shutter mechanism once more.

I never heard of the XK... looking it up, it really does look like an amazing camera! But then, if I wanted to mention all the great cameras they made, it would be a video way too long ;P that's why I make specific camera videos separate :) but I wish I could get my hands on this XK one day 😃
