My dad found this one in our garage from his friend... I love this tiny camera! It's easier to take along if I don't want to drag my Pentax MX.

I aquired a silver Hi-Matic E that I haven’t used yet. Really enjoying all the camera reviews you’re posting lately, and the insights to Japanese culture as I’ve never been to Japan and find it to be such a fascinating culture. It would be great to hear about what brought you to live in Japan and the interest in film cameras.

bro lemme tell you, i went into some random old lady’s shop where they sold cameras, in a window there was a hi matic E inside, as soon as i saw it and picked it up, i had to have it, i took pictures with it the entire time i was in japan and lemme tell you, japan hits different in film.

Astonishingly beautiful location. Japan is first on my list for traveling. I watch a wonderful channel about adventures in the forests collecting Yamadori. This is one of my passions. I have the silver High Matic E. It's a lovely and well made Japanese camera. Japanese manufacturing is truly a quality that shows the high standards of Japanese culture as a whole. This is why I drive a 4runner (for veiwers : Toyota 4runner is only made in japan) and wear a Seiko watch. All of these things are made to last and be beautiful as well. Thank you for reviewing this lovely camera in such a beautiful place.

Why the hateful comments? The guy is taking about something he likes, and you still get a camera review. Come on.

With the SR44 batteries, do you find that you need to set the ASA a stop lower? I picked one up for cheap on excellent condition.

I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and love them! I have a Hi Matic F which I think is basically a lower-grade Hi Matic E but the same thing? My Hi Matic F's rangefinder doesn't align at infinity. Do you know how to calibrate this?

Someone help me choose between the Minolta Hi-Matic E vs Yashica Electro 35 G. Thank you 🥺

Yashica looks cool but feels cheap. I recommend to ignore the hype and stay away.

Do you know how to fix a stuck film advance lever on this camera?
@japanvintagecamera8869 Жыл бұрын
There are two possibilities, the most likely is that the camera is not getting power, the shutter will not work if the batteries or dead, or the wires are corroded inside the camera. Or the winding lever pawl under the bottom cover is stuck and not letting the lever move.

It's flash modes only useful with a flash - as far as I can remember it sets the distance to your subject and therefore aperture and shutter speed based off a fixed flash value

what would happen if u set the iso ring higher/lower than the film speed? for example, ure using iso 200 film and u set the iso ring to 100. would it be underexposed or overexposed?
@Gandhiownsyou2 жыл бұрын
If you set the ISO one stop lower (100 ASA set with 200 Film loaded) then the meter would assume the film was less sensitive, and would compensate by overexposing by one stop. If you were to set it for 400 with 200 loaded, then it would assume the film was more sensitive and it would underexpose by one stop.
@johanchen34853 жыл бұрын
What's gonna happen if I load & shoot with 800 ISO film with this camera since the ASA option is just until ASA 500, right? Thanks!!
@frankzappa38343 жыл бұрын
You’ll just have to either meter externally or add the 2/3 of a stop that the meter won’t.
@johanchen34853 жыл бұрын

@@frankzappa3834 so basically keep the ASA at 400 and use a +1 stop ND filter?
