Minolta Maxxum 3xi in a Small Town with Fomapan 100 Black and White Film Review

In this video I use my trusty Minolta Maxxum 3xi 35mm film camera with a Minolta 28-80 zoom lens, loaded with Fomapan 100 Black and White film for a walk around a small town in Indana. Small towns are great to experiment with as they offer people, buildings, and typically some unique features such as street lights, or other items the town has installed for beautification.
I also hand developed this roll of film in HC 110 developer, and will have a future episode explaining those details, if indeed anyone is interested.

Yes, I'm never 'happy' with the results because of my expectation of 'perfect digital,' but trying to enjoy the process of just doing it and not really focusing on the results for now. Thanks!

my stepdad just gave me his old 3xi, itll be my first exposure (pun intended) into film photography! I shoot a ton of Polaroid (SX70 mainly), so im excited to see what different formats are like!

It's a learning curve but have fun with it. Primitive images are ok with film. Develop a style and don't try to be perfect and you'll have a blast!

hmm, haven't come across one of those yet. I have quite a few working 35mm compact film cameras that I picked up in lots for ebay and plan to run some film through them this summer - and eventually put up for sale lol, along with all the SRTs, AE-1s and others that I just can't put up for sale yet! My reasoning is I'm waiting for that Christmas rush!! good job on your ebay videos btw!

What happened you shooting with a Pentax k70 and keeping that is going like you said you were going to do

I'll have more Pentax K-70 videos coming. Had to take a bit of a break to recharge/regroup. Very time-consuming process for no pay lol have to schedule accordingly. But there will be more coming, along with more from other cameras as well. Thanks for watching, and thanks for your interest! Next K-70 is likely a street photography video.

@@DozierGraphic I seen a video one time and it worked only one time and I can't figure out what the hell I did right and what I did wrong so I can do a reverse lens with the 18 to 135 kit lens but the aperture doesn't wish to stay open and I don't know what I did right the first time to open it I could really use some extra help on that one but later Take it easy keep shooting

yep! I've shot with film for quite a while, but typically never focused on it for the videos. I have a few in backlog that I may bring out, just not thrilled with some of the results. Thanks for following!

Can the film be developed so it can be uploaded to a computer

yes, you have to either purchase a scanner (these were done on epson v600), or use a digital camera to convert the negative, or send it to a photo lab, which will develop and scan your negatives so you can further edit or post online. Hope that helps!

I usually prefer Manual, and almost use it exclusively with digital, but for 'new to me' film cameras, I'll usually go auto with the first roll just to see what comes out of the camera, how it reads the light, colors, etc, then I'll adjust the settings to what I want.
