In this lesson, you will learn how to play Django Reinhardt's solo over "Minor Swing", note by note and slowly.
In his solo, Django demonstrates a few of his well known techniques, like glissando, glissando with chords, tremolo, octave playing, chromatic scale and a few of his melodic ideas like the use of triads, the minor 6 sound, diminished 7, enclosure with various trill variations and the half tone approach and an octave up lick.
I discuss Django’s unique fingering and the influence of the use of only two fingers (in case you didn't know - Django lost control over three of his fingers after a fire in his caravan in which he got injured) on his technique.
Because I think that this solo is so important, I want to give you
its 1st chorus for free.
Cheers,
Yaakov

Hi man, how are you? I´m a big fan of you and I watch all your lessons and learn a lot from you. Thank you so much. I just have a simple suggestion (after trying hard to learn it) that points to the arpeggio you did at 6:23 in this video here. I think that rather than making the diminished arpeggio, he does the subV (Bb7) one, being the notes: Ab - Bb - D - F. What do you think? Thank you again and lots of kisses from a brazilian living in Portugal.

Hello brother, I am guitarist from Sydney, Australia Play a well-read music notation, but I still forbid I cant play fast and technique like you play on the guitar do you estimate that you recommend me Is there a special book to comment how to play the improvisation and ladders and The 6th Diminished Scale - Major and Minor | the same time guitar chords with technical Solos, such as jazz and blues Thank you

Great vid! It sounds like Django played the b flat for the first note and not b in the first lick? It is really hard to tell because he slurs it so fast, and b natural is correct to outline the Am6 chord.

can you give an advice on how to do that descending run at 1:11 ( the thing at the 15th frets, not the chromatic scale on the first frets)? im stuck at that section for about 6 months and it's so frustrating. i can even play the chromatic scale at a decent speed, but that section before it's so annoying. the strings just sound bad and almost muted when im trying to do the descending run.
@GypsyAndJazz
@GypsyAndJazz 8 жыл бұрын
+hasis21 Hi - the principle is to understand the subdivisions - you can see it in this free lesson- kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2aVi3Vqd9VjjKs As I demonstrate there- It will be much easier to star with 4 strings and then add more You can start with an easy 3 strings chord and then move to more difficult chords If the basic chord is hard for you, it will be very difficult to play this run So you must get used to the chord shape first If you'll be consistent with a DAILY PRACTICE of 10 minutes a day in that way, I'm sure you'll see the progress Good luck and please send updates how you're doing Cheers Yaakov
