Great, to the point video. I had to rewind many times due to the fast pace of the video. Talking a bit more slowly and separating the different topics/tips would go a long way in making the pacing better. Separating as in not immediately jumping to the next bit like it's the same sentence. Don't take it the wrong way, this was still amazing.

Thanks for the comment, and suggestions. For some reason I was obsessed with making this as short as possible because of all the long tutorial videos I had seen (and given up watching). When it comes to making and watching video, I like fast paced stuff you would rather rewatch than not even finish watching, but I went overboard with this one. Titles, and spacing of each section would improve this video like you said and I will take this into account for future videos, I would like to remake this video at some point, but that likely won't happen until next winter.

Thank you so much!! One of my life goals is to make quality videos that help people help themselves. It's super hard teaching yourself how to do things (I'm self taught for video) and so I've learned that having a fun project really helps get you going. Making this video taught me a lot of info management skills that have already applied to other non Gungeon tutorial video work in my life. You can definitely kill your past! You just have to be patient. All suffering is created by desire, if you relax into enjoying this game, it will go a long way. It took me way too many hours of frustration to understand this game has no end and the only point to playing it is fun, and personal improvement.

I’m not a beginner but I watched this video anyways and learned a ton of stuff that I never knew. This isn’t a beginner guide that teaches you the obvious stuff, it’s one that teaches you little tips that you wouldn’t normally think about that just make your time a little bit easier, and it’s useful for more than just beginners.

There are many good brown or blue chest guns. Always weigh your options carefully before junking a chest.

There are amazing items in all the chest categories and the only reason I recommend smashing a chest is because you don't have enough keys.

I've played Gungeon a long time, and recently devised a little challenge for myself. I'm trying to beat the whole game on a new save file and pick up every item without dying. You shall know when I've succeeded by when I post a picture to the subreddit with 0 deaths on the file, holding the Finished Gun. So far it's not going well (thanks heaps Daisuke!) but I'm still having fun doing it (and restarting, and doing it, and restarting...) because Gungeon is a great game.

I tried that on the new save file I made when Farewell to Arms dropped. Death count on that file is 25 cause fun is the priority and I play the game tired a lot, and not dying + tired ≠ fun. Good luck!

Very well edited and informative vid. It was entertaining too and had me engaged the whole time. Only thing I'd say is the pacing and speed is a bit too much too fast. Maybe just keep this video and name it "Bite/Bullet-sized Gungeon Beginner's Guide." That way, you can make more expansive and in depth guides later, maybe even covering the different facets in this one each in a separate vid. Whatever you'd like to do, just a suggestion. Even after 500 hours of playing, I thought I knew enough to have enjoyable runs, but then this introduced other aspects to me that will make things even more fun. One example is how you can change the order of guns through gun dropping and picking them up in the order you'd like. It's so simple but I didn't even know about that. Anyway, thanks again for the video. I love Gungeon a ton as well in addition to making videos for it, and would be up for further discussion if/whenever you're up for that.

I’m happy you found it entertaining, I found the other guides online to be really dull so I wanted to make something exciting. I made this video before Farewell to Arms was released so there are few things I want to change and even the audio recording is something I want to redo. I’ll make a new version of this next winter, and I will make other more in depth videos as well. So far my videos plans are: Every boss fight in a single video A run with every single character going to all floors and doing all the things A revised beginners guide with titles, a slower pace, a few more bits of info I’ve learned since I made this video Possibly I might make a video showing off some of the more interesting item and gun interactions, this depends on me being a bit better at info management, but I’m up for the challenge! I won’t be able to record voice over until winter most likely, but I plan to post the raw runs along with a general script in the description for each so that people can still get the info if they want it now. You don't need many guns to win, I haven't watched Abe Clancy much but in my opinion the best players at this game aren't the most popular. Streamers and KZbinrs are popular for their entertainment value and how they interact with their followers first, and then their ability to play the game in an entertaining way second.ETG has so much variety and depth to it so that I find it hard to evaluate what "best" would mean. Do you think guns are more important than actives and passives?

I say you should have two to three boss killer weapons and four or five room clearers and then nothing but passives. But having a bunch of passives can be a bad thing, because some counter each other and make them absolutely useless. Some just suck (FRICKING BATTLECOG). But I’d rather have a bunch of passives, so I gotta give it to you my man.

I have bought a Playstation 4 in the summer of 2017 and the first game I bought for it was Enter the Gungeon. I played it for a bit, kept dying, finally reaching the Dragun in October of the same year, dying. I don't really rage quit at games but I was hoping to beat him first try so I stopped playing. Until not doing that, of course, and reaching the Dragun again in February of 2018. And dying again. All this time I really sucked at the game (as expected) and both of my Dragun attempts were mostly based on luck. Then a long period of Gungeon being that one game that I still have installed, but never play had begun and I still thought the game was really cool, but there's no fun to be had when losing. I have 550h in Isaac, although I wouldn't say there is skill to be shared in the games. I don't really know what made me come back exactly, but in April of 2019 I was like "Yeah, I'm gonna fucking beat this piece of shit game" and I kept playing for about 3 days and finally beat the Dragun, after 60h of gameplay. As I sort of expected, something clicked and I kept beating pasts and unlocking new stuff and so on and so fourth, and now I'm here. I died on the "double" Lich fight, and I couldn't unlock the Gunslinger on my first attempt, so I still have that to do. Also I have yet to master the Rat's punchout phase, thus also never fighting the Advanced Dragun. Besides that and a few other bits and pieces, in 2 weeks I have discovered the true nature and fun of this game and have to acknowledge how great it is, basically beating most of it. Gungeon became something very personal for me, since after trying for 2 years (on and off, with large breaks) I have finally managed to be at least decent at it. I don't the think winning every run is that far off for me, or being able to easily play turbo mode. This video is also really great for showing that KZbin isn't really truly dead (for starting off, I mean), since I found this on my recommended page, which means small KZbinrs still have a chance. :D I also noticed on your first video that you play Gungeon on Mac, which made me think if it would be worth to switch to M&K, or to at least have Gungeon be a lot more portable on my Macbook, but that really doesn't matter that much. After all my rambling, I have to say that this is a great video nonetheless, and I also encourage anyone to try and dig into this piece of shit hard game. And you to keep making content.

unfitjoke the original isaac comes only slightly close to the level of hardness that awaits you in enter the gungeon and yes, I also included wrath of the lamb and finishing every character on the new difficulty (and even then I don’t have all Boy Achievements, the 1 % who got them can go fuck themselves, just like my 100% completion)

Although personally I prefer the pilot character, I see why the hunter is good but the pilots “disarming personality” is a slow burn and a half of a passive. Later floors make it entirely possible to buy out bello.

Thanks for the comment, it's is really nice to see the work and thought I put into this recognized (even if the video could use more polish). Pilot is my absolute fav pick in the game above every other choice. Everything about his kit outshines the other choices. Lock pick (sometimes) gets you into chests you wouldn't open otherwise. Disarming Personality buys more things for you all run. Hidden Compartment gives you an extra active item slot so you can juggle Big Boy and Lament Configurum or something just as OP or even just carry extra things to sell later, PLUS you get more ammo on guns. When you compare all that to the Marine he really seems underwhelming.

And scrambler is one of the best guns in the game! Blue Chests also drop my favourite: Glass Cannon. The thing is, this game gives you items in a randomized, but also set order. Like shuffling a deck of cards and always drawing from the top. There's more to it than that, but basically, the items in chests you don't open, are given to you (or offered on sale) either later in that run, or in future runs. So I know I'm getting Scrambler and Glass Cannon eventually.

Sooo im really bad i get to the last floor only 2 Times but i usually get to the 4th and then i die ( I have bad luck [theres freaking Brown chests every where]) buuuut i play because its fun and i play a lot of co op when i can but i think co-op Mode isnt the Best Mode to practise

This game is brutally hard until you get a lot more familiar with it. Do you go to the secret floors? Practicing and getting good at the second secret floor and the boss there really goes a long way to help you beating the game. Thanks for leaving a comment, I'm happy to hear you're having fun with this game, I still can't be bothered to play anything else. I've played co-op a few times and it's super fun and a lot harder than playing single player.

@@enterthegungeontutorials4342 and im not that bad i often go to Secret floor (1,5 as i call it) but when i have that special shield i always lose hp and... I haven't been at the 2,5 floor. The problem is in stresfull situations i always lose hp. Ps. Oh i forgot i hate the Maiden i think its called (that thing that shoots "Arrow bullets" and then they come back) PPS i have like 100h in this game XD

@@Qwerskyy It unlocks an item when you beat the game for the first time. It's one of the many jokes the devs put in the game.

@@Qwerskyy I didn't make a point of mastering floor 2.5 and looking back I see that it would have helped me do better at the game, the boss there is tough, one of the hardest in the game, and not taking damage on the second floor is really hard too. Check out this video I made showing how to stay alive when facing Lead Maidens: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnPOoHmlYsxsrKs You're doing well for the number of hours you have in the game, you will probably beat it in the next 60 hours of game play, and by 300 hours, if you keep playing things will really click.

To me, it seems you can do more with a keyboard and mouse, especially if you have programmable buttons on your mouse. I have Use and Reload bound to side buttons and I will flip tables and reload by pressing both buttons with my thumb. Some people feel you can move better with a controller.

I only got through the 3rd floor (to immediately die in the 4th) once and now I have about 300 different runs that always end in the 3rd floor... I don’t know how to do it (I get the video, but I just can’t do it)

Keep at it (if you're having fun)! Try to learn and retain something new every run, is there anything that makes it hard for you specifically? Are you going to the first two secret floors? They really help make you stronger.

Enter the Gungeon Tutorials Update, I successfully got to the 4rth floor again, but with less trouble (the only thing that makes it hard for me is trying to repair the elevator to the 3rd floor, I mean are the devs completely out of their minds?! 3 Armor ?!) I do have runs that suck and others where I couldn’t die even if I wanted to (somehow still failing, mind you) but the game got more enjoyable overall for me! I guess you gave me hope (?) and I’m making progress (VERY SLOWLY, but I’m making progress)! Thanks! P. S. Also, what is the room with the empty altar for?

@@demon4256 Good job on getting further! Don't worry about repairing the elevators until you either get way better, or just happen to have a good run where you are willing to give the Tailer things he's asking for. Slow progress is totally fine in this game if you're having fun. The room with the empty altar is the entrance to the second secret floor. You need to bring something to the altar that is always found on the first secret floor every run to open the entrance to the second secret floor.

​@@nar5205 This game is super hard if you aren't already good at games like this. Don't worry about your death counter, just have fun and train to get better. If you aren't going to the first secret floor every run, make it your goal to master that floor so going there is NBD. The more floors you go to the more loot you get, and that makes the later parts of the game easier. The second floor is actually one of the hardest in the game, so mastering it is a big hurdle in this game, by mastering the secret floor in between the first and second floor you will have a better time mastering the second floor. Every floor has two chest rooms. One chest will have a gun, the other will have an item. If you open one, you will know what the other will contain.

​@@roguethemachine Some of the best items in the game are in every quality chest. Brown Chests can drop a key, or armour as well as an item. Shades' Revolver, Potion of Lead Skin, Remote Bullets, Singularity, the Decoys and many more fun things come from Brown and Blue chests. Generally speaking I find boss rewards give you what you need to win, and whatever comes out of chests is what adds the variety to your run.

I'm not much for betting but I bet there was at least one insight into the game you learned from this. You should try 100%ing the game without dying. I've only done it once because the Shambling Round Hunting Quest takes FOREVER.

You have to throw it. If your gun is empty, you can throw it by pressing and holding fire until it charges (you will see your character flip the gun around and hold it backwards). I will do my best to make this more clear in future videos. It doesn't make an item spawn in the boss room it makes it a 50% chance an item will spawn instead of a 100% chance a gun will spawn.

If you add a gun to your inventory it changes the boss reward mechanic from: You always get a gun to: You might get an item. It doesn't force you an item just cause you get a new gun on that floor. I'm not 100% sure if it's been patched cause I've been doing rainbow runs for the past week having a blast! I'll test it out in the next few days and let you know.

Not sure if joking, but if you are having fun playing don't worry about how far you can get. If you aren't having fun then by all means go back to The Sims. This isn't a game you beat and are done with it, I'm still playing this over other games because every run I play I have a blast.
