The last two toys are a separate yarn craft - Weaving!! An easier way to make the starting threads (the warp) is to wrap the yarn around something that will give the desired length as many times as you need making a big loop of yarns and then cut it. Love your videos!!❤

Lol that Amukawa machine is basically a plastic knitting machine! It's barely a toy! lol that's so cool!! I watch a lot of videos by Engineering Knits here on YT and she uses machines regularly, they work just the same
@ruths_youth10 ай бұрын
If you're looking for another machine knitting channel, I really like KnitFactoryImpl. She's a software engineer so her niche is the electronically patterning machines, but she's recently started a series for the LK-150 which is VERY similar to the flatbed knitting toy. She also has a video on how to manually do intarsia (which is the technique you'd use to make that heart pattern).

@@kendramack7637 flatbed knitting machines are very expensive and have a high learning curve. Do a lot of research and take some in person classes before you buy one
@crizmeow83949 ай бұрын
@@kendramack7637your best bet would be to get it second hand, but they also require a specific manual and even repairs, Reddit was of great help for me when I just started and KZbin videos are good for specific techniques. Still they can be really frustrating to use as a beginner and like the other comment said, if you can get in person classes that would be great

I learned about the knitting machines and what those look like only couple of years ago and now I feel sad. My granny had a knitting machine and when she died majority of her stuff was donated to charity. If I would have realized then that one if her strange items was a knitting machine I would have asked if I could have it. Those are very expensive and I love to knit.

hi Minori, so glad you’re trying crocheting! a little tip for you - if you get the string from the middle/inside of the yarn ball, it should be easier to pull the yarn (the ball won’t be tumbling all over). try from either edge/side of the ball and use your fingers to kind of look for the yarn end, then just pull from there. hope this helps and happy crocheting! ❤
@mattrose9910 ай бұрын
Wanna add to this, it is easier to do a center pull if you purchase or roll the yarn into a cake. Otherwise be prepared to roll the yarn into a ball when you get close to the end of the skein to avoid knots. Yarn ball makers make the process of rolling yarn into a cake WAY easier, and if youre gonna use multiple skeins on a project you can tie them all together to make one big skein (at least from what Ive seen from cake skein fans, Im personally not a fan of center pull but I see the appeal)
@hannahxx1710 ай бұрын
A tip for having to cut multiple strings for anything: Measure half the length you need from the thumb on your left hand to the thumb on your right hand, DONT CUT, wrap it around each thumb in big loops until you have as many as you need, then cut from one thumb. Whatever thumb you count on is the thumb you cut on otherwise youll end up with one half piece. Also really helps if you use a door knob or hook to hang the non-counting/cutting side off before you cut as it puts tension on it. I was a party store manager and when you need to cut 300 ribbons in one go this makes it way faster. Also if you need a bulk amount of a colour or multiple colours, wrap the strings all at the same time. You need 20 strings in 5 colours? Grab all 5, wrap it 4 times, cut once and youre done.

A couple tips for the second machine. Put the carriage (the part you move) on the right side. Starting from the left wrap the yarn around each needle like a backwards letter e, put your weights on as soon as you can and as close to the edge as you can, and tie the end of the yarn to a table leg until you’ve done a few rows. It’s a child size version of the silver reed LK150 machine, very cute. Knitting machines are a steep learning curve. The first machine works great, but would be better with thicker yarn.
@batty-bites318510 ай бұрын
typically for the first and second machines u would use some weights meant for knitting machines, to hold down ur pieces while u work so the worked piece and move out of the way of what's being worked. also, people generally grab some 'waste' yarn, which is yarn that u aren't intending on using for ur final product and it's just meant to cast projects on with so all the mess at the start get worked out with the yarn that won't be a part of the final product and u can remove it after the project is finished. (it doesn't have to be actual discarded or unusable yarn for other things, it just has to be a different, often different colored, yarn just to get knitting machine projects started) i was actually curious about the second machine bc i hadn't seen a 'toy' version of that type of knitting machine before. okay the weaving machines are really cute, too! i love the one with cartridges to add different designs ; O ;

I love how much of a fiber crafter you've become Minori. I feel like your next organization project will need to be an aesthetic yarn wall; a small one made with a bookshelf or a peg board to store all of your newly purchased yarn. For a yarn bowl, you could make one in a variety of easy crafting ways (like clay or using old storage containers that you decorate and cut a hole in).

It helps on any knitting machine to start your rows, whether the round machine, or the flat machine, like the first 2 you used, with "waste" yard. Get 5-10 rows made and going well out of waste yarn, then add the yarn you actually want your project to be made from. It makes sure the project yarn is tight and neat.

The last weaving toy - hello kitty designs - I was thinking that If you want, you could add more panels, making it longer - then hand sew a nice flannel type fabric on the back side to hide all the loose threads and use it as a scarf. These toys look super fun! Thanks 🌱🌷🌼 I've had several versions of some of these. I had to be very careful with the circle and the flatbed knitting versions also. You are right, it does take getting used to working with these. Great job!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ball of yarn tip: Pull a strand of yarn from the middle of the ball (there's probably tutorials on KZbin). You won't necessarily find an end inside easily, but pull out the middle in a clump (also called yarn vom1t), [not too much, but you will find an end] find the end in the clump you just pulled out and your life will be way easier than unraveling from the outside, because you'll be pulling from the middle of the ball and it won't bounce all over the place. Take it from an avid crocheter of Amigurumi, who learnt this tip from her mom, an avid knitter 🥰 Some yarn brands actually indicate which side you'll find an end inside the ball, and its ready to pull. I've pulled out quite a big clump of yarn from the inside where the ball is rather deflated 😂 But I'd rather work with that than a bouncing ball of yarn. You can then, even put the ball in a glass jar big enough for it, poke a hole in the centre of the lid, thread the yarn strand you pulled from the middle through the hole, screw the lid back on and pull as you need, and you have an inexpensive yarn bowl...er...jar ❤ and you're recycling 🌍 (if the jar once had food in it) ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Minori has discovered that warping up your loom is the most boring part of weaving. And also that keeping your selvedges (long edges) neat is hard. A very accurate representation of being a beginner weaver! The looms are actually pretty sophisticated with the patterning options, especially for a toy. Of course they only produce a narrow width of cloth and you can't change how far apart the warp yarns are, which restricts the kinds of yarn you can use, but as an introduction to weaving they are a lot more complex than the toy looms I've seen for sale in the UK.
@crizmeow83949 ай бұрын
Hi! I have a flatbed knitting machine and to be able to use it the easiest way to cast is called an e cast, where you loop the yarn on each needle, and after each pass you can push the needles towards you and push the yarn loops back at least for a few rows, it’s a bit more secure and lessens the chance of the stitches falling. You also need to put the weights as soon as possible because the machine will not knit properly if the stitches aren’t pulled down pretty strongly, it takes a while to manage but it’s really cool that you used two colors and got a result! I haven’t been able to use more than one color yet :)

8:28 I have an Ultimate knitting machine (its this but much larger) with every pass end to end kinda pull the yarn tightly till after the needles pass the edges (Pull taught on end and end.) I recommend the Ultimate knitting machine if you can find one they are hard to find. It comes with a weighted bar to help the tension on the bottom also be even and prettier. It will take some practice but its def worth it!

Knitting is more complex them crochet is. I actually met people who didn't even know the difference between the two and I'm like "how dare you" 😂 i do both but I like crochet for making stuff animals and knitting to make blankets and scarfs. Knitting is little hard to do and you have to have patience, I'm rather slow at it but I enjoy it. Crochet on the other hand can be hard for people to figure out as well since it's complex too. I have some friends who ask me "how do you crohet?" and I tell them it's because I just practice and know how to do the stitches. What's fun about it is this crochet channel called Just Vintage Crochet where there are old patterns she does that come from the 1970s and Titanic Era and it's very cool and less complicated then the patterns you see on KZbin nowadays. I recommend you go check her out. Enjoy and keep practicing Minori! ❤

Minori, you almost got it right with that knitting machine! :) The main issue I've had with all such knitting machines were those little spoons. Sometimes they close :( As you knit on the machine, always check if the spoons are "open" - they have to be lying on top of the stitch - this is super important. If you look at the spoons in the part you're making the heart diagram (11:00), you'll notice that the spoons are "closed" - when this happens the stitches will always slide off them :( to fix that: push the hook all the way out and then pull it back in opening the spoon and placing it on top of the stitch :) keep knitting :)

With the flat bed knitting machine, try looping the cast on yarn over. Going from left to right in sort of an “e” motion. I hope that makes sense? My mum was a machine knitter and designer, so I grew up around them. The machine you’ve got there is quite rudimentary, and with the really old Empisal ones, you cast on with that method. Also for both the flat bed knitting machine and the minion one, if you cast on with “waste” in a contrasting colour, you can use your latch hook to make the top and bottom cast off nearly, before carefully clipping the waste yarn off. Hopefully these tips help a bit 😊

The flatbed knitting machine sounds pretty smooth. If this machine is anything close to my real Sk150 knitting machine, the reason why the yearn is behaving the way it is, is the tension. With knitting machines you get weights that hang on the bottom of the first 2-4 rows. That should fix your problem . It keeps the yard close and on the hooks as you pass the carriage over the bed from left to right.

I love the colors of the sweater you're working on! it's super cute! This knitting video reminded me of an old toy. I forget what it's called but you can literally knit a bracelet with it. it looks like a wooden lady and the top of her head had little hooks inside and you used those to knit. As you progress, the knitting project looks like her hair or a hat. When it's time to remove I think you pull from the bottom and it slides out to be a little knitted bracelet you tie around your wrist somehow.
