@Joe My daughter is 21, and a few years ago I noticed her friends were different races, which is good but I noticed that they weren't too respectful. I think it was because I'm white. My daughter is a mix because her mom is Thai and Chinese. I noticed that at her high school when I was inside the school, all the pictures of the senior leaders (high school) were are females. And they were mostly of color, and I thought wow it can't be very good for white kids here. The CRT (critical racist theory) was all over the place. Higher mathematics take a lot of time and really take a certain amount of smart gene you're either born with or your not. It's supposed to be rewarded and that's why it's being dropped. It's reverse racism too drop these course but that's where things are going.

43:00 You don't need college to be an accountant in most countries. You don't need it to be a computer programmer in the EU. Doctor, yes, lawyer sure, a lot of the jobs we force our kids to go to rip off mills for, should not require 4 years in college. Even the ones that do, why not have doctors do a 5 year MBBS instead of a 4 year undergrad then 3 years of medical school followed by 2 years of residency? Only reason I can think of is that University administrators and government want to rip off the working class.

In 2004 to 2008, when kids my age were finishing high school, I feel like we had less knowledge and less resources to understand student debt and were pressured to go to college and given no other options. Over a decade later, I'd assume the kids of today would have learned from our mistakes. So I'm curious what the climate is around college for high schoolers today. Is it still shameful to go to community college or do school counselors now promote it, along with trade schools? Or is it the same bullshit as long ago - where they brainwash you into thinking you can only succeed with a 4 year degree, without acknowledging the long term consequences of debt? That was neverrrrrr discussed in 2006 when I was considering college.
@juanvaldez72793 жыл бұрын
I graduated in 04 and community College was not shamefully even if you were doing 2 years of cc and then you enroll in state four year school for the last 2. I think it was your economic class culture that shamed you. Voting age should be 16. This country says you need to start apply for college at 16-17 to take on the largest debt next to a home in your life but have no Vote no Voice

@susanlippy10093 жыл бұрын
I don't have a hard time believing it. Most of us have zero savings. It's easy to allow your lifestyle to fill the available income. Example being a neighbor of mine, friends, who got an inheritance. What did they do? They bought a new to them home and upgraded their cars. Never mind they were taking on debt here. So he got a 10,000 yes raise, how much of that do you think will be saved? 0 as they now have increased mortgage payments, higher tax burden, higher utility charges for bigger home. How long will that last? This is the mentality of most.

I've been paying my student loans off for 17 years...just 8 more years to go! At least I got a degree...which has made it easier to get crappy jobs that have nothing to do with my degree. I spent 10 years in college, started majoring in guitar performance, had 8 credits left, found out that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't pass their 'ear training/sight singing' class (after 3 tries), and just like that my 5 year degree was over. I started over in psychology, got a degree, realized even though I did well in school, the math would be too much if I pursued a master's degree, and just like that I had a useless Bachelor degree and tens of thousands of dollars in debt. I'm sure I lost years off my life stressing over school/work/volunteering/practicing my guitar for hours a day. College is a huge risk, often for little if any payoff. I should have just gone to the library, and taken guitar lessons. If I'd been financially educated I would have been in a much better position today. I'm grateful to channels like yours that have helped me to finally get the education I should have had in high school. Don't waste your time/money/life, know yourself and your limitations and strengths!

The other issue is society is being built around instant gratification. It’s promoted daily and single clicks and next day delivery with PayPal credit for example. I feel it’s social engineering. I found once you learn to save up cash for things, you generally want less! And it writes off a lot of “luxuries” that are everyday items to those who finance things. This in turn halts their progress. Not only this but it takes patience and sacrifice, something that most aren’t willing or able to try. And also I’ve bumped into a few people in life who have inspired me, one who paid cash for a new car which to me was mind blowing, having only been told that everyone finances them. Same with houses, met a guy who saved 10years to buy a house cash. Changed my perspective of what is possible! I’ve learned loads from this channel, thank you for the effort 🙏. 🇬🇧

The teachers have to stick to a curriculum in K to 12 so even if they have investments on the side, they aren't allowed to impart such knowledge to students. Our government controls our curriculum. When I got to college and was going for my second degree I met my accounting professor and my life was forever changed. . . . . he explained investing to me (on the side after recommending me for tutoring others) and how if I saved and paid cash for my medical needs and only had insurance for hospitals I could actually call around and see what I could get for cash payments and it's actually cheaper than most companies full coverage insurance plans at the time. Invest the difference and you could pay for your own cancer treatments when you are 80 and stuff goes wrong. Would you brush your teeth everyday if you really realized that you paid cash for every cleaning and called around to get cash price checks? You don't think about things when they come out of your paycheck and insurance tells you where you can go. How car payments worked. How the system worked really. He loved teaching and I could sit and have a conversation with him for hours.

Here is the ultimate secret that credit card companies or minority mindset won't tell you, don't go into debt at all then there is no problem paying anything back. Live within your means and stop trying to live the imagined rich lifestyle. Stop making excuses about how hard it is to live when you aren't doing anything to cut spending and too lazy to work more hours.

@@bigcstevens187 true no debt does seem the right course for many. May I ask tho how you are to survive without shelter? A minimum wage job often does not pay for shelter. How will you live without food? Many go into debt trying to feed their families. Many have been through disasters of epic proportions. Think fires in California, tornadoes in Midwest, hurricanes in Louisiana. Not all debt is incurred in effort to "look" rich. Not all choices are as easy as that. Many are far harder. Not getting a cake for your child's birthday because you have no money after fixing your car. Not buying fresh produce for the week because you have to pay for medicine. So I agree with the concept of not taking on debt, I also understand how easy it is to do. Once you learn that it only prolongs the pain, as still you cannot afford basic life yet now you are farther behind you might change, maybe. Most don't or won't. Sadly many are living on wages that make change impossible. No one should need multiple full time jobs to just get by. But in this time many do just that. If tho our children learn to grow wealth, and if they live with wisdom perhaps slowly this will change.
