Agreed, the lack of people keeping their memories is likely related to the lack of Leylines which is directly connected to the irminsul. I wonder if this will play a part in some sort of revelation when we find out something big that everyone just "forgot". We recently got hints with the dainslief quest on memory editing so maybe it'll be used here? Who knows but so far natlan has been such a fun place to explore.

Theory: The Ode of Resurrection is a pseudo loom of fate and is a double-edged sword for Natlan. Mavuika mentions that Natlan's leylines are weakening which was why the abyss took more of a foothold on Natlan than other nations. The reason why the leylines are weak is that the primal flame along with the ode of resurrection is a device created by the powers of Xbalanque, the Pyro Authority, the Gnosis and the Shade of Death, thus it can resurrect people by directly changing fate using Natlan's leylines. The primordial flame was eating Natlan's leylines, thus weakening it, in order to change fate and resurrect warriors and keep making new human Archons. Now that the leylines are exhausted, the primordial flame is starving, the pyro Archon now has to surrender her own power to it to keep it going, and the abyss is taking over a weakened land. Skirk says that the Gnosis and the what's left behind by the dead only bring misfortune, thus both the Wayob, the ancient names and the primordial flame are objects of misfortune for Natlan and will spell it's doom rather than save it. It's where Captain comes in, it's pretty obvious that he's deeply invested into Natlan. He's probably a warrior of Natlan that left and lost most of his memories, there's a mention of a boy who was cursed by the sun in one of the books from 4.6 and got shunned by others. He could also be the Pyro Sovereign reincarnation like Neuvillette, using a cryo delusion. Captain wants to establish new rules for Natlan, and I think it concerns destroying Xbalanque's cursed system that created this cycle in the first place.

I think the resurrection system in Natlan is definitely going to be destroyed, yeah. It parallels Simulanka, in Constellation Metropole, where the little toy soldiers could just rewind time to give themselves a redo if they fell over. The system in Simulanka was breaking down just like the resurrection system is in Natlan, and in the end they chose to end their ability to revive/redo. Also, just from a meta storytelling perspective, it's too powerful. I wonder what that will look like... maybe separating their connection to the Night Kingdom? Perhaps the Abyss is successful in completely overtaking the Night Kingdom, and to prevent it from creeping into the overworld, they have no choice but to cut off that connection, and their resurrection ability along with it.

The Pilgrimage has to happen more than once a year, Kachina had a lose streak of 7 (if she's like 12 then yearly competitions would mean they sent her into combat at 5 yo 💀). Also Mavuika announcing that the next competition will be postponed wouldn't have been neccessary if the next one would happen next year - the nation would be either destroyed or already saved by then. They probably happen every couple months, maybe even more often than that.

During the Xbalanque quest, the ending about the dragons eye being split in two. I feel like that hints that Xbalanque had a twin. When we look at the first mural with the pryo dragon (sage) and the tree, we see two figures underneath, same size compared to the smaller ones. The only difference is one seemed to reach Divinity and the other didn’t. The other mural shows a person coming out of the dragon. So this brings me to the ending of the quest, splitting the eye in two. One was gifted resurrection, and the other was eaten by the dragon. We know later they emerged from the dragon. So first twin could be Xbalanque as the first Pyro Archon and his twin later emerges from the dragon, and sees his brother had ascended to Godhood while everyone forgetting who he is. Hint why Capitano doesn’t have an identity or people remember his heroic deeds in Natlan.

So! With Natlan here, it’s time to see if Bennett has any potential connection to this nation! Right away, I went to the People of the Springs Tribe to do their tribe quests, no spoilers about those quests is needed, because the one thing that caught my attention immediately, was the repetitive mention of luck. (Plus, Mualani and white hair, Bennett has white hair … it’d be rather crazy if they turn out to be related) Now, considering that the Wayob chose Kachina her Ancient Name because she was already worthy of it, then considering Bennett’s innate nature with luck, he’d have been born worthy of an Ancient Name connected to Luck. All Ancient Names so far have been Swahili words, and the Swahili word for Luck, is Bahati. Bahati more accurately means the chance of luck occurring. Taking a deeper look into a Swahili Word for Bad Luck, I came across the Swahili words Mbaya (Bad), and Hatari (Dangerous). Now while Bennett is without question very unlucky, we also have to acknowledge that his luck does get life threatening from time to time. With a little more to learn about Ancient Names, I currently do not know if Ancient Names are solely one word, or if there can be multiple in an Ancient Name. So to be on the safe side, if Bennett does have an Ancient Name, it’d be 1 of 3 options! Bahati (Luck), Bahati Mbaya (Bad Luck), Bahati Hatari (Dangerous Luck).

Let's think about what each element has implications with for example: Anemo-Death Cryo-Abandonment Pyro-Something to do with a father figure. Pyro characters that work well with this idea are Bennet, Diluc, Lyney, Dehya, Arlecchino and Gaming. This is pretty speculative but it fits in with the fact that Mavuika father doesn't appear with her mother as she walks through the past at the end of the Natlan archon quest so I'm still a firm beliver of the Capitano = Mavuika father theory. On a kinda unrelated note do we still think that slime theory applies to Mavuika. The pyro slime has a bunch of mini fireballs that it sends out, this could be a part of her kit, also the pyro slime has two state's ignited and unignited just like Mavuika's hair this is a close corelation between the two and it would be fun to see her in two states. Finally the pyro slime explodes on death and since Natlan is all about rebirth part of Mavuika's kit could be and ability that reduces her health but lets her die unlike other characters that deal with life consumption, once she dies she could release a big pyro attack and be revived immediately or at any random point in combat. Wonderful video as always Minsleif, Can't wait for more about Natlan.

Okay. What I feel is that (I dont want this) Mavuika will die, given all her talks about sacrifice and having lost all her power, even the "RESERVED FUEL". in the teyvat chapter storyline video, one of the Acts in Natlan will be ODE OF RESURRECTION. So, what I think is that either Mavuika will die in battle with the abyss and be brought back yet again, or, if Capitano is somehow related to the first pyro archon, he will take on the mantle of the pyro archon, or........ they might resurrect Xabalanque himself, since he is bound to have an ancient name.

36:20, during the natlan teaser trailer we got during 4.8, if u look closely during capitano’s scenes u can see what seems to be an outline of his face (nose). This suggests that he most likely has a physical appearance but chooses to hide it for whatever reason.

Wanted to mention that Capitano wanted to continue his fight with Mavukia but Ororon intervened with fight, Capitano did not retreat on purpose. This is told to us via the last scene of the archon quest. The Chinese translation explained it better than the English translation.

This may be a far stretch of a Theory. But I am speculating that the Wayob is related to the 'Shining Shade of Death'. Since the Night Kingdom oversees the dead. It is also possible that the Night Kingdom is a place where all souls of Teyvat meet their end. If people remember and speculate Hu Tao story quest, where she meets souls of the dead. It is not at all the land of the dead, but more of a bridge for souls to pass. It is there where she comforts souls who have lingering regrets. Each Nation of Teyvat has a bridge to the land of the dead. And it is possible that Natlan Night Kingdom is the main centre point. Though it is just my theory and speculation.

Amazing Video!! Two things that really stuck out to me about Natlan so far: -When the Captain is talking there are the end he’s got quotation marks around his name, a friend of mine said it could be someone impersonating him… maybe Columbina?😂 Also Tenoch’s story from the talking stick. Thanks for making this video! One small thing: there are pyro Natlan visions. Or at least that hotspring auntie that's Mavuika's Hot Spring Buddy has one on her hip. Looking forward to more vids, lore dives and theories! I think we're probably not going to get pyro powers from the Statue. We might get them from the Sacred Flames or the Wayob.

Hmmm i dunno about Pyro Archons borrowing power from super authority or something because it was stated that once someone becomes a Pyro Archon their inner flame awakens or something, this reads to me more as something like awakening true potential of humanity rather than borrowing shade of death gassed up divine authority. the inner flame seems to be innate potential and Mavuika had such a great potential cuz dunno, she's the goat maybe

She became a god after becoming an Archon and the First Land was Natlan, also I believe Natlan gets its power from a Wayob of death, if u glitch under Natlan into The Night Kingdom you will be right under the Natlan Flame, so in the kingdom u will she a giant Wayob that’s have Purple flames going up into the air and it seems like it’s fueling the Pyro Archon and in the Chinese translation in the harbingers the ranking doesn’t mean how powerful you are just like how father got her role by dis replacing the person she killed as a punishment

The Wayob has different meanings for each tribe in Natlan. The Scions of Canopy believe that the Wayob to appear and guides to the kingdom of the night while the People of the Springs believe to be gradually formed from the tribes totems after the people of Natlan began communicating with the kingdom of the Lord of the night. A Saurian crowned warrior said that he fought the Wayob in a trance while practicing his skills and in doing so gained deeper understanding. The Wayob manifests as those angle like beasts in Natlan if you don't know and when you kill them, they like disappear not like the normal enemies you kill all over Teyvat.

I'm sorry for coming here late but I found interesting how you spoke about the Shining Shade of Death, as I went into a bit of rabbit hole about mesoamerican religion and mythology and found something. The Ancient Names are written in Obsidian pieces shaped like a Feather, and the Wayob are made of Obsidian. Obviously they chose Obsidian because it forms inside volcanoes, but also there is an Aztec god called Tezcatl Ipoca who is the god of Obsidian, but also... of the Night Sky, the Invisible and Conflict. He's depicted as a Jaguar with face paint and feathers on his head. Mirrors in mesoamerica used to be made of Obsidian, and it matches with the ongoing visual cues of mirrors and the Abyss which is also interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ruler of the Night Kingdom is Tezcatlipoca also in Genshin, and it would be very cool if it's another name of the Shade of Death. Natlan introduced so much stuff and my god I'm learning so many things thanks to it!
