3:01 out of everyone in stray kids Lee know is probably the one who cares about honorifics the most, and even then he doesn’t care about it that much he’ll just randomly bring it up to be funny and the only time Chan uses that card(in a serious manner/not joking) is when the members are getting a bit out of control in a professional setting. but other than that, Chan is the oldest and he told the members they don’t have to use it, therefore honorifics aren’t really a thing in the group unless they’re joking around with each other.

3:27 Chan has said that the kids only talk formally to him but amongst themselves they all talk casually. I do think Han still calls Lee Know hyung tho but I don’t think he’s as “respectful” in private

The yellow thing in the beginning was Felix’s skzoo, Bbokari Given the fact the han has called Lee know jagi/jagiya (honey) a couple of times, I doubt Han calls him hyung behind closed doors 😂😂

in that outdoors clip, they were carrying around the yellow skzoo, bbokari, bc felix couldn’t be there for that shoot. they always do that when someone is sick or busy elsewhere. it’s so cute!

0:55 yup it is pronounced that way, it's "한" in korean if you want to look up the pronunciation. any time you see an "A" in a korean word it's pronounced that way unless it's followed by an "E"
@jamieislazy3 ай бұрын
Gonna try using the correct pronunciation, although I’ve said it how I do for quite a while now so we’ll see how it goes lol

You see, there are two different things. First is calling someone older by name. Here I think even in private they tend to say “hyung” (not always, but hyung often replaces the name itself, so they still probably use it a lot). But another thing is the actual formal speech. There’s a slightly different grammar and some words you say differently in formal speech - here I think the rules just go out the window with them (not even just only in private, but in public as well - they barely speak formally at all)

close friends don’t usually use honorifics, but some do. It’s kinda like a preference thing, and it’s usually discussed among ppl first! “hyung” is more of a name for a male friend that’s older rather than an actual honorific bc hyung is used for friends as far as I know (you wouldn’t rlly call someone you didn’t know hyung i don’t think) honorific endings like -ssi are for equals (one year apart in age or closer, but not friends) etc basically It’s really complicated and watching a vid might be a good idea! Ps. I’m not korean but my boyfriend is and he is currently teaching me korean so korean speakers if u notice something pls correct me if im wrong- I certainly could be wrong lol

Lee Know's cat-like behavior also includes slower blinking at Han, especially. Be careful with your remote. If you have cats and they are anything like my cats, you won't have the remote for long. ;) One of my cats likes to chew on power cords and will steal remotes to either hide them or eat them. Little brat. 🤣

3:45 in Korean culture, it's not that official to use honorifics (there are different ones for different situations, but I am talking about the hyeong thing). Korean guys love to hear their girlfriends calling them oppa, even tho it technically is an honorific. I feel like it's not really that similar to English honorifics, whereas it would be seen as something distancing in a relationship.

You are pronouncing Han correctly. 'Hon' is only used because Americans insist on pronouncing 'a' as an 'o', and unfortunately it's filtered through into Korea because they (and many other countries) are taught English by Americans.
